I pray he does not die a sudden unexpected death like poor Pope John Paul I. Well he will have his hands full anyway poor man. I do not envy him. The Vatican is a vicious, Satanic, homosexual, Globalist, corrupt, swamp that makes even Washington look cool. They drove poor Pope Benedict out. I hope he has what it takes to go to war. If I were him I would sleep with a gun under my pillow, leave a round up the spout and keep the safety catch well off..

    Prayers.

No worries. I believe Al Capone was from Chicago. And I believe Illinois is fighting to bring Bishop Sheen there.

Papa Frankie had a big, big down on the USA. By Electing a Pope from there the Conclave said something in itself. I mean an American while Trump is President? Also he wore traditional dress. He smiles like he means it. He opposed Frankie over the homosexual document publically.

    All good signs.

At the very least he is a good Catholic. It's such a relief to have a Catholic again as Pope.

I just pray to God they do not stiff the poor man. They are perfectly, perfectly capable of it.

    Prayers.

I wish I had your confidence Padraig...
Taylor Marshall doesn't fancy him at all. And John Henry Weston said he was the guy that put the hatchet into the good bishop strictland.
I heard also he was a confidante of pope Francis, an advisor to him.

I hope I'm wrong in these things.

God writes straight in crooked lines. I think the bad ones voted for him hoping he would be another Frankie. I believe they backed the wrong horse.

I believe the good Cardinals voted for him knowing he was in fact good.
I know Frankie appointed him , that does not put me off.

I believe he will make a great Pope.

Anyway time will tell , soon enough.

As far as his politics are concerned, well they are not mine. But you can't have everything, so long as he keeps them quiet.

But all in a all a wonderful pick.

Some interesting things I noticed. He was born on 14 September the feast of the exhalation of the cross. Today, on his election is a feast day of St. Michael the arch angel and the fact he chose the name Leo, harkens back to his predecessor Leo XIII who composed the St. Michael prayer. Also I noticed that shortly before the white smoke emerged the seagulls were beside the chimney with a little chick and I thought this is a sign of hope and new life in this beautiful jubilee year of hope. God bless or new pope and may he be a beacon and light of unity within the Church and to the whole world.

The Catholic Church is universal, made up of liberals, moderates and Conservatives, a pope that can build bridges and find common ground and unity is what we need. We must pray and keep on praying for our holy father, putting personal opinions aside. God bless pope Leo XIV

The reason why he choose the name Pope Leo is that he is into the Social Action thing. Fair enough .

The Cardinals are hoping he will steer a middle way. All I wanted was just a good Catholic. He is a good Catholic. That is enough and more than enough.
A Catholic Pope. Thank God. Even if he were just to do and say nothing I would count it as a bonus. He could hardly help being better than Frankie.

    Thank God.

Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, former prefect of the influential Dicastery for Bishops since April 2023, is a Chicago-born prelate who spent many years as a missionary in Peru before being elected head of the Augustinians for two consecutive terms. Aged 69, he is closely aligned with Pope Francis’ vision regarding the late pope’s pastoral priorities, especially regarding environmentalism, outreach to the poor and migrants, and a pastoral approach that emphasizes meeting people where they are. He has publicly stated that bishops should not act as “little princes sitting in their kingdoms.” Cardinal Prevost's views on allowing divorced and civilly remarried Catholics to receive Holy Communion in certain cases are unknown. He showed mild support for the Vatican’s 2023 document Fiducia Supplicans stressing the role of bishops’ conferences in applying it. The Chicago-born cardinal has faced controversy related to handling of clergy sexual abuse cases, but has been defended in the face of the accusations. He is known for his discreet and thoughtful approach, and has been praised by peers for his attentive listening skills, ability to synthesize complex issues, and judicious questioning. Cardinal Prevost is being promoted as a possible compromise candidate if leading candidates are unable to obtain enough votes. His lengthy missionary service in Peru, first as a priest and later as a bishop over a total of 22 years, allows him to be seen more as an international candidate than an American one, which mitigates choosing a pope from a superpower in his case. However, he might be considered too young and too recently made a cardinal (2023) to be seriously considered papabile with any significant chance of being elected.

It was lovely hearing Pope Leo speaking in Spanish. I was more than a little surprised though that he did not speak in English:

I see John Henry Weston is taking what seems like a nervous breakdown about him.:) (He repeated about ten times that Pope Leo does not like Trump)

He has a beautiful kind smile and seemed quite angelic. Give him a chance. I am hopeful. I will pray for him. If he is a man of goodwill he will be guided on the right path.

I always liked John Henry, but I think he is shooting from the hip here. Give the guy a chance. He is the Pope After all. Any remarks about Trump one way or the other came when he was Cardinal. Even if I had thought there was a problem , which I don't really, I would have kept quiet for a few months, at least, maybe a year or two, to stew over it. But John Henry has come out with all guns blazing right away. He gave the new Pope, what, minutes, before laying into him with a hatchet? I mean how wise is this? How prudent? How charitable? Where is the love?

This is very unwise and uncharitable I think. To attack a new Pope like this right away?

Give him a few months John Henry, better a year or two.. Put the guns away. He is your Pope, your Spiritual Father. Attacking him like this so furiously in public, right away..I mean is this wise? Is it prudent? Is it charitable?

Give the poor guy a break!

The feast day today and his birthday are significant i believe. Leo XIII fought modernism fiercely and gave us the powerful St Michael prayer.
