Some of these mystics are what I would call Paramount mystics. They ar ekind of mystics of mystics. A breed apart. I am open to new phenomena surrounding them. Especially considering the times we are in.
I never heard of her before. I'm finding out about all sorts of visionaries, etc. since I joined this site. I have a particular aversion to people who claim to speak to the dead since my sister died. My sister was a staunch Catholic. One of her colleagues always appeared to be very pious, but for some reason my sister didn't like her. Well, within weeks of my sister's death, the colleague contacted her grieving husband suggesting the name of some kind of spiritualist who could put him in touch with my dear sister. That taught me a lesson about people not always being as holy as they appear to be.
I think there is a difference between the summoning the dead and the dead turning up. Padre Pio at one point said he was visited by more Holy Souls than live ones . They used to form queques to see him apparently.
I have met with and communicated with members of my own family who died...and others. They came to me , I didn't call them. I think there is a difference betweent them kind of turning up on your doorstep and asking them to come. One the shortest verses in the bible ,shortly after the death of Christ is, 'The dead arose and appeared to many'. My spiritual director told me one time that priests think it quite common for the recently dead to return and communicate with their family. Folks just don't like talking about it in case they are thought to be nuts. I'm past caring.

Yes, I also believe that they appear unsolicited. My grandmother died leaving a young family, my father being the eldest. To the day he died, he maintained that he saw his mother shortly afterwards in the field behind their house. It was a comfort to him at that time. My father wasn't given to exaggerating or "seeing" things. Your own experiences are probably similar to his. The problem is when a third party is involved.
I think Doloures one of the things I have learnt about Mystical phenomena is never to say never. As a matte rof fact some Mystical Theologians have a kind of pyrmid of certainty which goes, the more people who whe see it , the more sure we can be. So if many , many people see things they call it a 'Theophany'..an appearance to many. For instance after the death of Jesus He appeared to many,many people. In modern times the best example of a Theophany is when the sun danced at Fatima in 1917.
But yes it is possible for a kind of outflow of things. God permits others to see what omne person sees..and really who knows where the Wind of the Hoy Spirit will blow or what the explanation might be? Many year ago in Cyprus I was in a hotel room in the island of Cyprus, I was talking to a friend about God when suddenly right out of the blue there came an appearance of the Shekinah, the appearance of the Glory of God. I thought I was going to die. I fell on my face on the ground. But my friend who was with me experienced it too. He fell down too. It was quite terrifying but joyful. Years later in Jerusalem I experienced it again. With another witness. Who knows?
Many, many purgatorial souls have appeared to mystics. This is NOT some evil thing. If that soul appeared to an Atheist in Maria's presence---THAT IS WONDERFUL! Especially if that person was converted. The 'conjuring of dead souls' is TOTALLY DIFFERENT than what Maria did. Maria is a true mystic, suffered terribly for JPII and is compared to Padre Pio in the mystical phenomena dept. Incredible things happened to her, including roses grew out of her chest without hurting her. One of the greatest saints of the 20th Century! She spoke frankly and came to the U.S. many, many times. She was in NJ when the twin towers fell and PROPHESIED their falling. So many things. Her books are worth reading.
Padraig, I believe my mummy came to me in a dream shortly after she passed away. It was so very vivid and so real I have absolutely no doubt it was really her. I have had other dreams of her since but they were just that- "dreams". That initial dream wasnt a dream but a visit from her to let me know she was still with me. We hugged and hugged and it left me feeling high for quite some time. I got greedy though, I want her to come to me again in a dream- I want/need another one!!
I see now from what people are posting that she wasn't some fruitcake or charlatan psychic. I certainly had never heard of her before I joined this forum, and if I saw her name elsewhere on the forum it didn't register with me. It was seeing her name and Christina Gallagher's in the same post, followed by the link where I only read as far as her having spoken to somebody's dead relative. Between the incident after my sister's death and one or two others since then, anything that smacks of people communicating with others' dead relatives gives me the creeps. I intend to read up on this lady.
I ask for your prayers in this situation. My daughter Rachel and her family visited during the Christmas holy days. Rachel had a mild flu the week before which included pink eye. When she was visiting, all symptoms but the pink eye had ended. What makes us nervous with all this talk of zika is the fact that she's pregnant with our third grandchild. In the Los Angeles area of California where they live there are at least five confirmed cases. I'm not sure what diagnostic test is available. It's time for much trust and prayer. Lord have mercy!
