From Totus Tuus page: "On the night of June 15–16, 2026, thieves broke into the chapel of Aurelia Hospital, a busy private polyclinic on Rome’s Via Aurelia. They forcibly ripped the heavy tabernacle — anchored to its pedestal — from its place, stealing it along with the consecrated Hosts inside and the offerings left by the faithful at the votive candle stands. The hospital chaplain discovered the shocking scene around 10 a.m. the following morning. The Vicariate of Rome and Auxiliary Bishop Monsignor Stefano Sparapani have expressed profound sorrow, describing this as yet another grave sacrilege against the Most Blessed Sacrament and the Church. The chapel serves patients, families, and medical staff who turn to the Eucharist for comfort, strength, and hope amid illness and suffering. Cardinal Vicar Baldassare Reina and the Diocese have called on all parishes and communities in Rome to offer prayers and acts of reparation. A special penitential rite and Holy Mass will be celebrated in the hospital chapel once a new tabernacle is installed. This incident reminds us of the profound reality of Christ’s Real Presence in the Eucharist. As St. Thomas Aquinas taught, the Blessed Sacrament is “the source and summit of the Christian life.” In the face of such desecration, our response must be greater love, adoration, and reverence for Jesus truly present in every tabernacle. Let us pray together: Lord Jesus, present in the Holy Eucharist, forgive this offense against Your love. Heal the wounds of Your Church, convert the hearts of those responsible, and increase our faith and devotion to Your Sacred Body and Blood. Amen. Join the Diocese of Rome in prayer and reparation this Sunday."
St Catherine of Sienna one time asked God the Father how come Evil people appeared to get away with things. God answered that sometimes God permitted this so He could punish them by sending them even deeper to hell that He might have if they had been stopped. In other words He let them away with it as a worse punishment. Satanists go to the very deepest part of hell.
Thanks HH, it's a dreadful thing to have happened. It doesn't bear thinking about what might be done to the Tabernacle and Consecrated Hosts. "O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, Save us from the Fires of Hell and Lead all souls to Heaven, especially Those who are most in need of Your Mercy"
