I suppose it's coming for all of us. We were struck with a severe storm on Christmas eve over 20 years ago. We lost half of our roof and our power was gone for a week. We went to my mother's house on Christmas day and cooked the turkey in her gas oven. Ever since I have a fully gas cooker as I never want to be caught like that again.
We had to cover the roof with plastic we got from a local farmer which he had for silage. We had to wait for at least a month before roof was repaired.
I learnt lessons from it and I always have a supply of candles

I was at Adoration tonight at Marian Shrine and I was a bit disappointed when walking in. There was scaffolding up all around the main Sanctuary area as well as tabernacle and altar. They had moved a temporary altar forward and are reserving the Eucharist in a side area. I found out it’s part of a repair and beautification that they hope to complete before Easter.

Adoration was still beautiful! And I believe the Lord spoke to my heart. I “heard” (not audible) - “ you should also assemble scaffold around your heart. Use these 40 days to chisel and scrub your stony heart to expose your real heart of flesh to Me. Yes, it will be painful and hard, but I promise it will lead to Resurrection and peace”.

i know I did not “think” this - it came out of blue. Thought I’d share - I think perhaps this is what Lent is all about for all of us.

“Rend your heart and not your garments”. I pray I can walk this Lent in this way. I hope and pray you all also have a beautiful Lent.

Electric came back on last night. Still lots of people out, the ice storm was wide spread. We are fine tuning our response it was a good trial run. Using candles and an oil lamp was a challenge. My husband broke one chimney and I broke the other one slipped right off the oil lamp and we only had two. But have lots of candles and flashlights. We are getting old and clumsy. The little Buddy kerosene heater worked great glad we had them. And my warm Irish sweater! You don’t get cold in an Irish sweater ☺️

It's not all gloom-it'll be very hard for our masters to make vegans out of us without vegetables.

If we run out of vegetables, spare a thought for the poor vegans-what will they eat? As the vegans have a well known propensity to describe their foods in terms of the meat they don't contain, for example 'vegiburgers' and 'tofu sausages', I suggest we help them out by offering them treats such as 'steak avocados', 'duck tofu' and 'bluecheese asparagus strings'.

What on earth? This was published a few days ago about "US Hegemony and Its Perils" on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC
    https://www.fmprc.gov.cn/mfa_eng/wjbxw/202302/t20230220_11027664.html

It lists US bad behavior: bullying, meddling, instigating revolutions, wanton use of force, looting, exploitation, monopoly, propaganda etc.

What it says may be true, but why now? The paragraph below is the conclusion:

While a just cause wins its champion wide support, an unjust one condemns its pursuer to be an outcast. The hegemonic, domineering, and bullying practices of using strength to intimidate the weak, taking from others by force and subterfuge, and playing zero-sum games are exerting grave harm. The historical trends of peace, development, cooperation, and mutual benefit are unstoppable. The United States has been overriding truth with its power and trampling justice to serve self-interest. These unilateral, egoistic and regressive hegemonic practices have drawn growing, intense criticism and opposition from the international community.

Countries need to respect each other and treat each other as equals. Big countries should behave in a manner befitting their status and take the lead in pursuing a new model of state-to-state relations featuring dialogue and partnership, not confrontation or alliance. China opposes all forms of hegemonism and power politics, and rejects interference in other countries' internal affairs. The United States must conduct serious soul-searching. It must critically examine what it has done, let go of its arrogance and prejudice, and quit its hegemonic, domineering and bullying practices.

"They" have been given the go ahead I expect. To start revealing these egregious things. To what end I don't know but the Trump years revealed a lot of skullduggary going back several years. Since WWII. All countries do these things--the Soviets may have been the worst but the US always pretended the moral high ground. I love the ideals of my country and the good patriotic citizens who do their duty and keep us going but I fear it has been a captured operation for awhile.
The question is--have the elites decided to hang the US out to dry so to speak?

China must 'let go of its arrogance and prejudice, and quit its hegemonic, domineering and bullying practices' over global and domestic Catholicism.

I saw and experienced a extraordinary sign of faith today at my Church. I arrived a bit early as I was assigned to assist as an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister at Mass. a woman who is also a EEM arrived and placed Pyx on altar as she was bringing Communion to a sick person.

This woman buried her daughter just yesterday (from an overdose). I sat in my pew as she came up to altar- I could see tiredness and grief on her face. But, I also saw hope. And I thought, how easily she could be in her bed, in tears or in Anger at God. But, yet here she was, coming to worship God and more, bring Jesus Christ, the Divine Healer to a person in the parish in need and who may not have received Him today other than through this woman. I thought and thanked God that He allowed me to witness this act of love and faith. What a sign for me and so I share with you. God is love… no matter what we suffer.

please pray for thus young woman who passed and her mom in her grief.
