Sometimes the most obvious answer is staring us in the face. We have an expression in Ireland when someone does something wrong or unpredictable: "what possessed him?" It's usually said in the context of minor actions, but seems very apt in this situation.

We've had psychiatry and psychology going up blind alleys for far too long trying to explain so-called 'mental illness'. It isn't working. Whatever prompted this man to premeditatedly and deliberately expedite this terrible massacre doesn't really seem explicable by a cerebral chemical imbalance or a childhood trauma.

Our Lord spent much of His time on Earth expelling demons from disturbed individuals. Why should anything have changed? Unbelief in these evil beings only further facilitates them.

I'm not sure if this was already posted, but people on Youtube are claiming that the Mississippi River is drying up, even though the area is not in a drought (apparently there was flooding recently). The running hypothesis is that a crack has opened up in the New Madrid fault and the water is sinking in, and that this may lead to the long-awaited New Madrid earthquake. Does anyone know if there's any validity to this? Is it actually drying up? Would this hypothesis even lead to an earthquake? It seems to me that a crack would normally follow an earthquake, not precede it.

Virtue, I found the following by doing a quick search, https://ascendingstarseed.wordpress...g-dry-above-new-madrid-fault-crack-in-ground/ I wonder if someone here can verify this. I mean maybe we have a member in the area of where this is occurring.

This is the first I've heard of it, and I'd like to take the time to investigate, but I don't see that happening any time soon.

To review: Millions and millions of years ago, the North American plate started breaking up, with the eastern portion starting to move out. Things got patched up, and they stayed together, but it left a serious weak spot up and down where the split was starting to occur. The Mississippi River started there, simply because it was easier to carve a course out of the weakened stone.

The area where the greatest stretching occurred is now called the New Madrid Seismic Zone (NMSZ). Unlike the strike-slip plate boundaries that you see on the West Coast, the NMSZ is basically a section of stone where for miles underneath it, the stone is honeycombed and weaker than the surrounding stone. Every so often the honeycombed area collapses in on itself, compressing the underlying structure just a little bit and causing earthquakes to form. (FWIW, there's a similar areas underneath Lake Michigan and along the Niagara River.)

Because the area is honeycombed, it's not a question of one crack. It's hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, of tiny cracks throughout the region. Over the years, these microscopic cracks let microscopic amounts of water into the honeycombed region, where it's trapped. Water is pretty much incompressible and if for any reason the area starts warming up the water is going to start expanding. This is going to start cracking the supporting rock even more, letting more microscopic amounts of water in, and so on.

So, yes, it's possible. Is this what's happening? I don't know.

All good except I am one of those people who do not believe the earth is millions and millions of years old
But I am probably in the minority
That's a topic for another thread

I can't imagine the Mississippi going dry. It makes our rivers look like ditches. It's so wide that the enormous barges look like litte tug boats on it. Parts of it approaching New Orleans looked more like a sea than a river.

  12. And we all know a prior NMF quake made the bells ring in Boston and the Mississippi River "run backwards"!

Perhaps a blessing IF such a quake occurred w/o as much water....for the surrounding states.

It is not hard to figure out, these days, that the same folks who overtly & covertly, support, defend and partake in AntiFa, BLM, Occupy and NFL "Protests" are the very same folks that despise Traditional Christians/Jews, Constitution/Bill of Rights and the Founders who left us with those Documents and their Faith in The Almighty. These "Protestors" want the Power to Rule and the Power to Oppress/Suppress those that would stand in the way of their hedonist pro-Abortion/Perversion lifestyles and godless Socialist BigBro Gubermint.

I'll Say-Again! Election 16 was a Ft Sumter Moment and the Signs of Civil War II become more frenzied and apparent daily. The age of instant communication and "Social Media", Demoralized/Demonized Police, Just in Time Delivery Systems and Urban Areas that form the transportation/electrical/energy crossroads for our Just in Time Economy can make for a Perfect Storm of serious unpleasantness in short order ...... and those once productive/prosperous Urban Areas now filled with the misled angry-n-ignorant-n-poor citizenry, demoralized Cops along with a surplus of the worst criminal and corrupt political classes ........ all connected with Made in China devices seemingly attached to their left hands ;-( .... and it's World-Wide!!

  18. Rep. Trent Franks Pens Op-Ed Urging McConnell and Others to Pass Pain-Capable Bill

Wednesday, Representative Trent Franks (R-AZ) penned an opinion piece for Fox News urging GOP figures like Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Children Protection Act.

The powerful piece details the President’s steadfast commitment during the presidential election to the pro-life cause, with Franks noting that the President denounced the “torturous and horrifying practice of partial-birth abortion,” going on to explain the gruesome details while Hillary Clinton defended aborting the child in the ninth-month.

......Rep. Franks details the Pain-Capable Act and the struggle of getting McConnell and others to be more aggressive with this legislation:

.......Senator Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has stunningly allowed Democrats to use arcane Senate rules to gridlock this incredibly reasonable pro-life bill just as they were determined to gridlock a pro-life justice like Neil Gorsuch.
