    Jimmyz,

My temptation comes from the fact that I am a creature in time and see things from a linear and sequential perspective. God dwells in eternity and perceives all reality simultaneously! One fact that helped me understand this is God's judgment against the fallen angels. They dwell in eternity also, and so their decision to rebel is an eternal choice with no opportunity for repentance. We are temporal creatures with opportunities to repent. So the realm of the eternal is something this mortal cannot easily grasp and the concept of a predestination which does not conflict with free will is a mind-blower!

I went to the Book shop by Westminster Cathedral on Friday and they didn't have any books in stock. :(

However, I have found something on line which I am going to post here for others who have not got a copy, maybe some of you who do have a copy would have a little flick through, make sure it is kosha :cautious:;)

    Mary's Child,

What a treasure! Thank you so very much for thinking of us! Alleluia! So much to read. So much to learn. So much yet to experience! O Mary, Seat of Wisdom and so rich in humility, by your prayers, may our minds and hearts expand to take in all we need, and by our flimsy efforts joined with your purity of intention, may the love of Christ impact the hearts of all we meet! You are so blessed, for through you the Almighty continues to do great things! Holy is His Name!

Safe in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary!

Your response and seeing your love for Our Blessed Mother express itself in this prayer has made me very happy. You reminded me of Mother Mary when she prayed the Magnificat when she visited Elizabeth. How lovely. :)

I have come across de Montfort's use of predestinate soul in the following passage....the third devotion to our Lady, known and practiced by very few persons, is this I am about to disclose to you, predestinate soul. It consists in giving one's self entirely and as a slave to Mary, and to Jesus through Mary, and after that, to do all that we do, through Mary, with Mary, in Mary and for Mary....
In the times I have made and renewed this consecration, I have not thought that to mean that I was assured salvation, mainly because I know that I am still not living the consecration perfectly. Rather, to me, it means, "favored" to a small degree because by consecrating my actions to Jesus through Mary, I have accepted an invitation to a great grace. So for me, predestinate soul means a favored soul (but not assured of salvation) that St. de Monfort uses as an encouragement to the person performing the consecration, but realizing that propensity to sin from free will may always enter into the picture.

When we offer things through the Immaculate Heart with Mary. Our offerings are made through Her pefect will and Love. They become of much greater value as her love united to ours makes up for all that we are lacking and Christ is loved back perfectly.

It also makes us or should make us more humble in the process, being fully aware of our own shortcomings and less judgmental of the shortcomings of others.

It should also help us to be more compassionate and as we grow closer to Christ to love His people more with His love and to feel a compassion for them rather than a judgement when they fall out of grace.

To try to explain this simpler terms also.. Although we don't have to do this with God, but it might help our understanding..

Have you ever really wanted something and you know that your dad would say no or if you have done something wrong you know the punishment will be great so you send your mother in as mediator?

Now can you imagine bringing him a gift after you have done something wrong, and your mother takes it from you and speaks on your behalf and says look how sorry she/he is.

I am not saying for one moment that we have to pacify God and that isn't what I meant, but sometimes, if we do look at the goings on in a functioning family on a very human level, they can help us to grasp things on a spiritual level..

Jesus and Mary are the new Adam and Eve. When we fallen humanity offer things through her immaculate heart it becomes an offering that is lifted up to the same merits as if we had never fallen.

    These are my thoughts..

I glanced at the link. It looks to be the same book for the most part except it does not include the actual 33-day consecration itself. So, it is the exact parts of the book I am reading before switching to the 33 Days to Morning Glory. Even if you are not doing the consecration, I recommend reading it. It reads like a prayer book, and he also talks a lot about the saints of the latter days, which could be the times we are living in right now!

Tomorrow, April 10th, begins our 33 days of preparation for Consecration to Our Lady. My one-and-only Geralyn and I are excited!:D I'd like to be able to pray for all who are joining in. Now I believe there's PotatoSack, Freedom, Mary Ann, and Mary's Child. Is that right? Anyone else?

Safe in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary!
