So saddened and sickened by this. Every time you think nothing else can bother you, it hits you again. Prayers for eternal rest for Charlie and his family.

 

My heart is broken for this dear family. Prayers for Charlie's soul. Another violent and tragic day for America.

From our friend, Jesse Romero: I’ve met Charlie Kirk a few years ago, he gave me a tour of TPUSA in Phoenix. I gave him my book: “A Catholic Vote for Trump.' He invited 'Catholics for Catholics' to have a break out room at the TPUSA AMFest last year (which is the largest conservative political conference in the country). I spoke at a packed Catholic Break out session along with Jack Posobiec. I mailed Charlie Kirk my other book: "One Lord, One Faith, One Church" about a 1 1/2 year ago, this book sets out and proves that Jesus Christ started the Catholic Church. Charlie would attend Saint Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Scottsdale with his wife and two kids at least once maybe twice a month. He never received Holy Communion when he went because he knew the teachings of the Church, he was very much drawn to Catholicism. He mentioned on social media that he was drawn to the reverence piety and elegance of the Catholic Mass. St Bernadette is a traditional Novus Ordo parish (ad orientem, altar rails, Gregorian chant). Charlie saw the shortcomings of evangelical worship services. He was a young evangelical that was searching for the fullness of truth and he was very close to coming into the Catholic Church. On social media, he would boldly and openly defend the honor and devotion of the Virgin Mary amidst his protestant followers. He was 31 years old and wise beyond his years. RIP young man, your life made a difference.

ETA: I have heard that Charlie Kirk’s wife is a devout Catholic and takes the children to daily Mass at St. Bernadette Church. Charlie had started to attend with her over the past few months.

Many comments on social media about some similarities between this assassination and the assassination attempt on President Trump in Butler. Apparently the suspect is believed to have fired a single shot from a nearby rooftop. Under the circumstances it's difficult to understand why these rooftops were not under surveillance by Charlie's security team.

 

These words put him squarely in the devil's cross hairs. God reward this courageous young man! I think he died a martyr's death and is with Our Lady right now. But his poor wife and children. It is unbearable to contemplate.

 

So so sad firstly for his family then for
America and the world.
How long Lord? How long?

 

I remember seeing him speak occasionally on cable news.... If anything, his death is horrifying and a reminder to myself about mortality, given that I am a tiny bit younger than he was and I have faults and failings I still have to rectify. None of us knew when or how we will be taken.

I just hope that his wife or someone else gave him an emergency Catholic baptism before he died....

Bishop Barron

I first met Charlie Kirk about four years ago when I was in Phoenix for a speaking engagement. He reached out and invited me to breakfast. I was deeply impressed by him that day. He was a man of great intelligence, considerable charm, and real goodness of heart. I reconnected with him just last year, after I saw him debate twenty-five young people who were, to put it mildly, hostile to his views. I texted him that I was so struck by how he kept his cool and his charitable attitude in the face of some pretty obnoxious opposition. I then asked him to appear as a guest on my interview program, “Bishop Barron Presents,” and he eagerly accepted my invitation. He was scheduled to come to Rochester, Minnesota in about ten days. The last contact we had was two nights ago. After I appeared on one of the evening news shows to talk about the Religious Liberty Commission, he texted me and told me how much he appreciated what I said and then added, “I’m excited to join you on your show soon. God bless you.” That last sentence shows what was most important to Charlie. He was indeed a great debater and also one of the best advocates in our country for civil discourse, but he was, first and last, a passionate Christian. In fact, when we had that breakfast in Phoenix, we didn’t talk much about politics. We talked about theology, in which he had a deep interest, and about Christ. I know I’m joining millions of people around the world in praying that he rests now in the peace of the Lord.

I woke up this morning to the terrible news of his death.

This seems very much like a moment that will be remembered in history, like the rape of Lucretia

 

I had the worst night's sleep so ended up saying the 5 Joyful mysteries in the awakened moments for the soul of Charlie Kirk.

I don't understand why this assassination has impacted me so hard but it has. I think it is a revelation that we are facing an absolutely evil monster that the woke mentality is not only a mental illness but a demonic force.
