AMERICA/COLOMBIA - Pope Leo XIV: May Jesus Christ be announced with clarity and immense charity among the inhabitants of the Amazon
Monday, 18 August 2025 amazon mission safeguarding creation justice bishops

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – "It is necessary that Jesus Christ, in whom all things are recapulated, be announced with clarity and immense charity among the inhabitants of the Amazon," said Pope Leo XIV in a telegram to the bishops participating in the assembly of the Ecclesiastical Conference of the Amazon, currently underway in Bogota, Colombia, from August 17 to 20.

The Ecclesiastical Conference of the Amazon (CEAMA) is the regional ecclesiastical body established at the request of the bishops of the Amazon region following the Special Assembly of the Synod of Bishops for the Pan-Amazon Region (October 2019) and canonically erected by Pope Francis on October 9, 2021. The Conference is chaired by Peruvian Jesuit Cardinal Pedro Ricardo Barreto Jimeno, Archbishop Emeritus of Huancayo.

In a telegram signed by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State, Pope Leo thanks the bishops for "their efforts made to promote the greater good of the Church in favor of the faithful of the beloved Amazonian territory" and exhorts them "on the bases of the unity and collegiality proper to an 'episcopal body,' ways to help diocesan bishops and apostolic vicars concretely and effectively carry out their mission."

In the telegram, the Successor of Peter calls on the bishops of the Amazon region to take into account, in their mission, "three dimensions that are interconnected in the pastoral work of this region: the mission of the Church to proclaim the Gospel to all" (cf decree "Ad Gentes, 1"), "the just treatment of the peoples who dwell there, and the care of the common home."

It is "essential," the Pope emphasizes, referring to St. Paul's Letter to the Ephesians, "that Jesus Christ, in whom all things are recapulate, be announced with clarity and immense charity among the inhabitants of the Amazon, so that we may strive to give them fresh and pure the bread of the Good News and the heavenly food of the Eucharist, the only means to be truly the People of God and the Body of Christ." And "wherever the name of Christ is preached," Pope Leo continues, referring to the second of the "three dimensions interconnected" and citing St. Paul's Letter to Philemon, "injustice recedes proportionally," for "all
exploitation of man by man disappears if we are able to receive one another as brothers and sisters."

Within this "perennial doctrine," the Pope also sees "the right and the duty to care for the 'home' that God the Father has entrusted to us as diligent stewards, so that no one irresponsibly destroys the natural goods that speak of the goodness and beauty of the Creator," for these things, the Bishop of Rome explained, referring to number 23 ("Principle and Foundation") of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, "have been given to us in order to attain our end of praising God and thus obtaining the salvation of our souls." I would be concerned at this Amazon thing. Papa Frankie used this as a major vehicle to foster his diabolical agenda. It is a Trojan Horse.

Amazing how much more than his predecessor Pope Leo stresses belief in Jesus Christ. It is encouraging.

It encourages me like seeing a policeman gently requesting a serial killer to behave himself. This rather than taking a head shot.

The same thing with the German Bishops except they have not even had as mild rebuke as to the Amazon.

We got the exact same deal under Papa Frankie with mild murmerings of behave yourself, take your time, get in line, to German heretical Cardinals and Bishops.

A Shepherd has a staff to kill wolves. A Bishop has a Crozier to strike heretics. So go, do some striking.

    Take the head shot.

Papa Frankie was able to take nothing but head shots at the Trads. There's nothing stopping Pope Leo aiming the same kind of way. This time at the real enemy, not the supposed one.
Tut, tut, tutting won't cut it.
    He's Pope , not a cheer leader.

It's certainly frustrating when we wish something would get taken care of in a certain way... but God didn’t choose us to do it so we can't make that decision! Lol. I feel like that a lot. Maybe humbling reminders from God.

Also, you know...Mary is the one God has placed in charge of these times, to try to bring us back to God before it's too late. And she doesn't take head shots; she tries to prevent them! She constantly pleads and exhorts...and she sure is trying for a whole lot longer than any of us ever thought. We were sure God would have thrown in the towel by now. But here He is, still sending His mother, still extending mercy, still delaying punishment...

Our Lady taking a head shot.

My own impression of Jesus and Mary is that they were and are not nice people; quite the opposite in fact, they would have been very, very hard to live with.

Thank God. I am so sick to death of nice.

The Holy Spirit comforts the afflicted

    ..and afflicts the comfortable.

A mother or father who cannot chastise their children is not doing their job.

God is not a pussy cat. He does not want to climb up on your lap to be petted.

When Our Lady of Fatima showed Hell in all its horror to small children she could have been arrested for child abuse. A really, really, horrible thing to do. But good parents very often need to be horrible to get things done.

Why do you think God hasn't afflicted us yet? I'm curious to hear your take on it.

God was already terribly offended in 1917 when Mary appeared in Fatima, and we have become so far gone since then... I too wonder sometimes why God hasn't just obliterated most of us. He was ready to...but then, He decided to send Mary. It was His love and mercy that made her in the first place, and His love and mercy is personified in her. She is the one who holds back his arm, who reaches out and touches the fiery tip of the angel's sword as he prepares to strike the world, and the flames die at her touch...because God wants them to. God wants mercy to prevail over justice. If He didn't, He wouldn't have sent His Son to meekly die on the cross for all of us sinful, undeserving people. He let His beloved Son satisfy His justice so that we wouldn't have to.

God's ways are not our ways. I don't know why He has allowed such soft popes to govern our Church for the last long while. I don't know why He allowed the mess that was Vatican II and the fallout from it. I don't know why He didn't work a miracle and put a pope in place that would immediately clean house and put out a decree for all Catholics to fast on bread and water and cry out to God for mercy. That's the kind of pope I wanted. But God almost never does what I want. So it may be that my ideas aren't as great as I always think they are. :p Maybe He sees the whole picture and knows exactly what will lead to the greatest number of souls being saved or the greatest good for all of us, and the best thing we can do is trust Him, pray, and sacrifice, to help His Will be done.

Apparently, from what I have read , the Good Lord puts of immediate Chastisement as a further punishment. In other words God is so offended that He lets us fall even deeper into sin so that when the ax finally does fall we will get hit even worse.

The scariest thing I have read in Catholic Prophecy is that things will reach a point when even Our Lady will not intercede for us to stop the arm of Justice Falling, when she herself will demand Justice (just before the Three Days of Darkness).

It is a grave mistake for our Spiritual Leaders to believe that good and evil can live side by side with no consequences for as St Paul said:

    2 Corinthians 6:14

Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?

There are many examples of this yoking good with evil and one that comes to mind is homosexual clergy. Priests Bishops, Cardinals, nuns. I mean people who not simply only have homosexual inclinations but are engaging actively in perversions. We seem to have reached a point where, effectively this is not a problem. We simply go along get along who cares attitude.

To be honest we have reached a point where I don't think any Pope no matter how holy and wise could stop this. But he should at least do the best he can to try.

    This is simply not happening.

I watched the most wonderful video yesterday that cheered me up about all this. It reminded me that there is hope, there is always always hope.

The Mass for this group will be celebrated inside the Church of the Gesù by Bishop Francesco Savino, vice president of the Italian Bishops’ Conference. Savino himself called the event, “[an] irreversible sign reminding us that the Gospel is not a manifesto for chosen few, but a love letter addressed to the whole human family.”

I like what I see of Pope Leo. He hasn't taken up residence in the Vatican yet because the apostolic palace needs some renovating after being vacant during the Francis papacy. He has also resumed the papal tradition of taking a summer break in Castelgandolfo.
