Please pray for Alyce and I as we are about to meet with my brothers adult kids. He is suffering from worsening dementia and my sister in law is overwhelmed with physical, mental and emotional issues herself. As only family, they have asked fir guidance. This all needs help from above . Its above my pay grade asking Holy Spirit to Give us wisdom to understand what is truly needed, compassion to listen without judgment, courage to speak honestly, and patience with one another. We need protection any from fear or anger. And I need the desire to control or fix everything ourselves. Thank you
The Lord has certainly granted you a deeper experience of ordeals among your family relations, of late. Dementia is a most difficult cross. These children are hurting! Perhaps your own recent painful journey encourages them to seek you out more readily, for you and Alyce have demonstrated a combo of perseverance and trust in God. May Our Lady and the wisdom of the Holy Spirit sustain you all. O God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful. Grant that in the same Spirit we may be truly wise and ever rejoice in his consolation. Through Christ our Lord.
Sending prayers your way. Prayers for all during this difficult time. I love the surrender novena..so many things seem so impossible. I'm putting this right into my Divine Mercy chaplet before 4 o clock!! God bless you and yours.
This suffering is so sad, in a number of ways. Medical advancements are such that those suffering with dementia can linger in such a state for a long time, and such a burdensome load weighs heavily on the remaining loved ones. In such a "hell" on earth, the health culture increasingly looks to euthanasia as a sympathetic solution. It reminds me in an offbeat way of the difference between the guillotine and and the Cross. The first seems obviously kinder and more efficient, one could say more "loving". But God is ultimately the Author of human life, determining when which sperm unites with the egg, and so too He ought to determine the moment of death. He alone is Lord.
Thank you all for prayers. My niece abd nephew shared a lot of deep and long wounds. Besides counseling we asked and offered to connect them to a wonderful priest... they need healing that only can come from Christ. They both are many years of not going to Church and Sacraments. We told them this is only way back...faith and trust. This is going to be a journey. But some immediate issues with my brother and his wife need to be addressed. It will not be comfortable nor easy. There are many wounds that were uncovered tonight. But when the light shines in these eventhough it's painful, the healing can begin. Thanks for the prayers and we appreciate your continued prayers
Prayers for all. You show great courage and love in facing all this. I remember reading a book that spoke of how St Therese of Liseaux handled her father had dementia. Apparently she first found out through a dream. She dreamt she saw her father with a veil over his face. She seems to have suffered a real agony over all this. She adored her father but being in Carmel she was very limited in what she could do. Poor Therese.
Prayes to St Dymphna. Good Saint Dymphna, great wonder-worker in every affliction of mind and body, I humbly implore your powerful intercession with Jesus through Mary, the Health of the Sick, in my present need. Assist Mike and family. Saint Dymphna, martyr of purity, patroness of those who suffer with nervous and mental afflictions, beloved child of Jesus and Mary, pray to Them for me and obtain my request. (Pray one Our Father, one Hail Mary and one Glory Be.) Saint Dymphna, Virgin and Martyr, pray for us.
