I'm guessing mayo is a treatment? I'll have to try to remember that. Tea tree oil is a repellant. I know some folks who have their kids use it "religiously"!
I just tried Mayo as a treatment... didnt work, I ate two jars. Lice are still there and I think im going to get sick.... Seriously though tea tree oil is the best! I dont like socks and wear sneakers without socks often. Tea Tree oil is the best foot odor cure in the world!

The only way to get rid of lice is fine tooth combing together with a good natural repellent, a product called nitty gritty is very good. it's not a once off treatment but has to be done often over the course of a few weeks. I have battled them long and hard, they adore the head of one of my daughters.
Thanks for the tree oil advise Dean, Maybe it is the present day lice. I used the mayo treatment one time on my children years ago, it worked. Ha, my daughter won't eat mayo to this day.
I heard that when you wash the children's hair use hair conditioner afterwards. It is supposed to make the hair so the nits can't stick to it. By the time I heard this all my children had already grown up, so did not get the chance to experiment and see if it works. I used to use whatever the chemist had when the school letters came. All parents would get the letters whither it was our kid or not. loved the idea of using mayo, never heard that one before. LOL
I never heard of the mayo tip either. Sounds gross. So many different solutions. A woman I know does her daughter's hair in a tight braid and then sprays it with normal hairspray because she was told that they like clean silky hair. Don't know whether it's the hairspray, but so far her child has escaped infestation.
I had heard of this this thing in Scotland before. I also heard it is done somewhere on the Continent, and some parents lost their children because it was claimed their religious beliefs were harmful to their children. So pray it is just nonsense.
Please don't think that I thought that the article was untrue. I meant nonsense in that it doesn't make sense for the government to do such a thing. Sadly, with the way that our society--world--is going, it's not surprising. Everything is getting turned upside down. Right has become wrong and vice versa. It's all so sad--and scary. I feel for the families that have been torn apart. Sometimes I wish that I could wisk my family away a hide somewhere. Then I realize that the whole world is going nuts and that there's no where else to go. That is about the time that I remind myself to surrender myself and family to God's will and trust in Him.
My seven kids have had lice many times during the years. Schools are getting it more and more. I take pure mayo, not 'salad dressing' like miracle whip, and put it all over their hair. Then put a shower cap on them or wrap their head in saran wrap for an hour and park them in from of a video or tv. When an hour is up you wash their hair and comb it out with a nit comb. The girls's long hair was time consuming one way or another, the boys always opted to get their hair cut military style, which was fine. One way or another, its a great hair conditioner and not toxic. The products at Walgreens/walmart are ok for adults, but are expensive and HIGHLY TOXIC. Do not put them on little children or sick children. Do not get it in your eyes either! Every time my husband goes to a hotel, he brings home the shower caps. I use them for bowl covers for leftovers, which are great! And I save a few for emergencies like lice....
Try the hairspray as a preventative measure and see if it works. The woman I mentioned does her daughter's hair in a French plait and then sprays it. It keeps her hair tidy all day with no stray locks to brush up against other kids' hair. With seven kids maybe French plaits would be too time consuming in the mornings unless one or two of your girls are old enough to help out.
The real reason for the Lice Problem will never be made public 'cause it is Politically Incorrect to do so! Lice is just one of the recent infestations that, I have no doubt, can be "laid at the the feet" of uncontrolled Borders, Immigrants and poorly controlled/checked Trade Goods. In the USA we have Lice, Bed Bugs, Scabies, Zitka, killer Wasps from Asia and the list goes on & on if one would care to do the net-search. Oh! Not to mention diseases that were long thought to be "under-control". Throw in AIDS, Ebola and any number of STDs and you have one of The Horsemen of the Apocalypse already in place ... but Ya can't talk about it 'cause you would be called Racist, ANTI- Gay, Women or Progressive!
