A "misunderstanding" within a structure of definite channels to go through? So then they should welcome an objective look at just why there was that "misunderstanding"!

Von Boeselager has said he was asked to resign Dec. 6 during a meeting with Burke and the order's leader during which he was told that the Holy See wanted him to step down. He said he subsequently learned that the Holy See had made no such request.

    ....
During the meeting, the order’s grand master indicated that the request to resign “was in accordance with the wishes of the Holy See.”

However, no such request was ever made. Von Boeselager said since his ouster, the Holy See has written to the order “confirming that such a wish was never raised.”

After 3 decades of service with apparently no need to suddenly fire the man....until, um, recently....yes, in fairness there should be an investigation...unless that might make someone take a look at all feet that are made of clay!

Santa Reassigns “Rigid” Elf On The Shelf To Malta

Santa Claus has reassigned a conservative “scout elf” from a key post in a home near Farmington Hills, Michigan to one that is mostly symbolic.

Ray, the Elf on the Shelf in question, has been a leading stickler for those being naughty or nice, and has been vocal in his criticism of the direction that Santa has been leading Christmas in.

Ray was one of the highest ranking scout elves in the North Pole hierarchy in his position on the Arctic Circle supreme court. But he was reassigned to the position of Chief Elf of the Order of Malta, the North Pole announced this morning. The Noel Times pointed out that Ray’s new post is a job that “has almost no spying responsibilities.”

Ray has been outspoken about his opposition to Claus’ move toward more openness and inclusiveness of disobedient children.

“Kringle is not free to change Christmas’ teachings with regard to the naughty behavior of children or any other doctrine of the Yuletide,” Ray recently told EOTT.

When a recent draft from Santa asked for scout elves to be more welcoming to children who were mean to their siblings and disrespectful to their parents, Ray said that the report “lacks a solid foundation in the sacred naughty or nice list.”

"In an extraordinary rebuke of the pontiff, the group said late Friday that the replacement of its grand chancellor was an “act of internal governmental administration of the Sovereign Order of Malta and consequently falls solely within its competence.”

Pope Francis called for the probe to discredit and intimidate Cardinal Burke. Cardinal Burke, issue the formal act of correction. Do not be afraid!

As has been proven repeatedly, this is not an "attack."

Silence does not serve those whose souls are placed in jeopardy by the pope's material heresy. We have a duty to expose and resist this error, just as St. Paul opposed the first pope, St. Peter, "to his face."

The current situation between the Order of Malta and Albrecht Freiherr von Boeselager
    Rome, 13/12/2016

Because, unfortunately, some details of the events of last week are being circulated and discussed in an unbalanced manner, the Grand Master of the Order, HMEH Fra’ Matthew Festing, would like to communicate the following. On Tuesday, December 6, an extremely grave and untenable situation became apparent concerning Albrecht von Boeselager’s position as Grand Chancellor of the Order of Malta, and the Grand Master called Boeselager for a meeting in presence of the Grand Commander, Fra’ Ludwig Hoffmann von Rumerstein and Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke as the Holy Father’s representative to the Order of Malta.

In the meeting the Grand Master said that the situation called for Albrecht von Boeselager to resign as Grand Chancellor, which is especially regretful because of his service to the Order for so many years. After Boeselager refused this, eventually the Grand Master had no choice but to order him, under the Promise of Obedience, in presence of the Grand Commander and the Cardinal Patronus, to resign. Boeselager refused again. Thus, the Grand Commander, with the backing of the Grand Master and the Sovereign Council and most members of the Order around the world, initiated a disciplinary procedure after which a member can be suspended from membership in the Order, and thus all Offices within the Order.

The reason for his removal as Grand Chancellor was due to severe problems which occurred during Boeselager’s tenure as Grand Hospitaller of the Order of Malta, and his subsequent concealment of these problems from the Grand Magistry, as proved in a report commissioned by the Grand Master last year.

It has to be noted that, for any member of the Order, to refuse a command of the Grand Master – regardless of the reasons behind it – is disgraceful. However, for a member in Obedience to refuse an order under the Promise betrays a disregard for the Order’s spirituality and laws, his Religious Superior and Sovereign, and for the Holy Father’s representative to the Order who was supporting the Grand Master in his decision.

The Grand Master asks all Members of the Order to remain in the ardent desire that the Order stays united. Although some members of the Order have been publically protesting, these claims are erroneous and also illustrate a similar disrespect for the Grand Master.

The Sovereign Council of the Order of Malta will appoint the new Grand Chancellor in the next few days.

De Mattei - The Pope and Malta: A bogus commissioning

    Robert de Mattei

    Corrispondenza Romana

    December 24, 2016

Has the Pope appointed an external commissioner to the Order of Malta? Pope Francis undeniably likes the strategy of appointing external commissioners as he has already adopted this draconian measure against two religious communities considered too “traditional”: the Franciscans of the Immaculate and the religious of the Incarnate Word. Further, it is not by chance that the announcement of a commission to “gather suitable elements to inform the Holy See thoroughly and swiftly with regard to the matter which has recently involved the Grand Chancellor of the Order of Malta, Mr. Albrecht Freiherr von Boeselager”, was given by the Vatican Press Office on December 22nd, precisely while Pope Bergoglio was transforming his traditional Christmas greetings to the Curia into a bitter chiding against those who are resistant to his project of radical change in the Church, with implicit reference to Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke, Patron of the Order of Malta. However, in this case, the appointing of an external commissioner is not at all possible.

As Don Fabrizio Turriziani Colonna explains in a documented study dedicated to the Sovereignty and independence of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (Libreria Editrice Vaticana 2006), the Order of Malta and the Holy See are placed one in front of the other as subjects of International Law and thus are in a position of reciprocal independence. The Order of Malta, has in fact a twofold juridical character; at the level of Canon Law, it is subordinate to the Holy See, but at the level of International Law it is guaranteed independence from it. The fact that the Order of Malta maintains diplomatic relations with 94 states and has an ambassador to the Holy See, confirms that, in a certain sphere, their relations are as equals. The Sovereign Military Order of Malta, is, in short, a sovereign State, even if it has no territory, jealous of its autonomy and privileges. Throughout nine centuries of history, the Knights of Malta have been covered in glory, shedding their blood for the Church, but there have been no want of conflicts between them and the Holy See.

The last one, narrated by Roger Peyrefitte (Chevaliers de Malte, Flammarion, Paris 1957), was after the Second World War, when the Order was able to thwart an attempt to fuse them with the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre. This struggle came to a halt in 1953 with the sentence by a Tribunal of cardinals which recognized the sovereignty of the Order of Malta, but nonetheless affirming its dependence on the Holy See as far as concerned the religious life of the knights. The Order of Malta accepted the sentence, conditioning it on some points: 1) the recognition of the rights due to it as subject of international law; 2) the limitation of religious independence of the Order only to professed knights and Chaplains; 3) the exclusion of subjection to the Vatican Secretary of State.

The Holy See’s competence does not involve then the internal and international governing of the Order, but limits itself to the strictly religious sphere. At this point one could imagine that the Pope, having identified deviations of a moral and doctrinal order among the knights, had thought of intervening to straighten out the situation. What happened instead? It was brought to light that Albrecht von Boeselager, during his time as Grand Hospitaller of the Order, had abused his power. promoting the distribution of tens of thousands of condoms and contraceptives, also abortifacients, (so the reports related to the United Nations’ programme against HIV/AIDS in Myanmar document), [so] the Grand Master Matthew Festing intervened to bring an end to the scandal and asked Boeselager to resign, appealing to the vow of obedience made to him.

The Grand Chancellor, strong in his friendship with the Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin and of his brother George’s recent appointment to the board of the IOR (Institute for the Works of Religion -the Vatican Bank) rejected the request arrogantly, laying claim to his "liberal" Catholic stance. The creation on the part of the Secretary of State of an investigative group of five members, all of them more or less connected to Boeselager, constitutes a serious case of interference in the governing of the Order. The Holy See should limit itself to watching over the religious life through its Cardinal Patron, Cardinal Burke, appointed by Pope Francis himself. The Pope has every right to be informed with regard to the Order’s internal affairs, but it is irregular for this to take place through a commission which bypasses the pontifical representative, unless there is the desire to accuse the latter.

A Cardinal, however, can be judged only by his peers and not by Vatican bureaucrats. Equally improper is entrusting a Vatican Commission with the judgement of matters regarding not the religious life, but the governing of the Order, accusing, in this case, the Grand Master. The latter has done well to reject the bogus actions by the commission. Unfortunately not only is the procedure bogus, but the judgment in particular coming from the Vatican Authorities regarding it. Whoever favours contraception and abortion, disdaining the Church’s Magisterium, and violates their own vows, merits rehabilitation nowadays. Whoever defends the Church’s teachings and the moral integrity of the institutions he belongs to, is, on the other hand, accused of “malevolent resistance” to the Holy Father and ends up in the dock. Let us hope that the Knights react. The sovereignty of the Order of Malta is at stake as well as its uninterrupted tradition in defense of the faith and Catholic morality.

From article referenced in comment above:

The Order of Malta, has in fact a twofold juridical character; at the level of Canon Law, it is subordinate to the Holy See, but at the level of International Law it is guaranteed independence from it.

That's simply a lead up to a certain ability here of being able to have one's cake and eating it too, but without admitting it. If the "ancient Order" wishes in this case to choose the second "character" as its protective umbrella, of International Law, after using rather deceitfully the Holy See to back up its rather sudden action NOW after years of same knowledge and not finding the necessity before to act....well, that is very dangerous territory for the faithful to include itself. If any religious order declares, by its actions, a greater loyalty, for utilitarian purposes, to the state....or, International Law, .... then it would be better for the Church to cut itself free of such a two way institution which is religious and obedient with Canon Law only when it's convenient. People of the U.S. have been rightly concerned about having its Supreme Court usurped by non-Patriots who would sell out to international law over the Constitution. The Body of Christ cannot have such a dualism to choose from either when it effects decisions over individuals.

The Holy See should limit itself to watching over the religious life through its Cardinal Patron, Cardinal Burke, appointed by Pope Francis himself.

....um, to the former "chief/overseer of distribution of Canon Law decisions" who, in this case, doesn't seem too interested in "subordinating" his current position to the written "juridical character" of that "level of Canon Law"? IOW, humility seems to be the real "character" that is missing.

This important emphasis is made in the last sentence given above: The sovereignty of the Order of Malta is at stake.... a bit scary!!

    It doesn't work that way.

There are religious brothers associated with the Order. The Holy See obviously has a role in their formation and care.

Otherwise it's a lay run institution and the Holy See has no role whatsoever in its governance.

Thank you for this thread and forgotten Priceless Messages!

The situation cannot be closer to that, with the order of Malta going into open rebellion. As they are souvereign country having relations with over 100 countries Vatican included. They are the perfect place to elect an antipope. Be on guard watch! Burke is going into schism under pretext to keeping morals in the name of self appointed moral authority.... As if all the rest cardinals and bishops who do not agree with his drive, are sinful and support adultery life. And not giving mersy that our Lord showed to the most sinful persons in his time and continues to show it thru his real pastors...

Whoever denies to enter the door of mersy will enter the door of justice, said our Lord to st. Faustina. And the holy scripture prophet said, I want mersy not sacrifice.

'Burke is going into schism' - solemn nonsense - asking for clarity on teaching and doctrine is not in schism.

Amazing how orthodox cardinals are treated with such disrespect.

He is not just asking. He said pope would stop being pope automatically if he talks heresy. There isn't such thing in Catholic history, not even the quoted by Burke John xxii. It is pope not cardinal to determine what heresy. It is majority of bishops on council to say who is heretic as it happened in the past. Otherwise we rewrite church history canon law everything. Questions discussed of marriage etc are not dogmatic. They saw change in history, incl in our sister churches the orthodox. If Rome fails to conservatives it would be better to shelter in the orthodox then? I do not support second and third marriage and would think twice before ordain any married priest? But that is to be decided by pope. Peter was married too. Enough examples in gospels. The marriage and even sex are temporal, not dogmatic. It is majisterium leaded by pope to decide, not single cardinal who pretend to lead crusade on sanctity for unknown motives. He may mean well, but he is wrong. And is about to break up with the church on Jan 1 .I'm not his supporter and hope a billion more Catholics leaded by many holy bishops, are not his supporters either

Then this "lay" group cannot use the Holy See to otherwise justify their actions which is what they did. Again, they're trying to have their cake and eat it too. Beware, for such is more than likely how any AC or NWO "church" will attempt to sway the weak....you can follow the state's ways while still pretending you are only subject to God.

After years of knowledge about this particular situation...."On Tuesday, December 6, an extremely grave and untenable situation [suddenly, (my word)] became apparent".....but only after the arrival of the new and rather (from media reports of years of publicly objecting to Pope Francis, offering "clarifications" of what he said..or, what he REALLY meant to say....even during the Rome gathering which discussions were ordered NOT to be spoken about to the media) controversial head of this "lay" organization!

It has to be noted that, for any member of the Order, to refuse a command of the Grand Master – regardless of the reasons behind it – is disgraceful.

And yet it's not "disgraceful" for the group to obstinately refuse an objective review by the Holy See to which, by Canon Law, they are subordinate! Their leaders here are making the choice to order all members to choose the "way" of international law. Uh oh!

One might even suggest that in placing C. Burke in this type of situation Pope Francis was knowingly offering the man a setting where he would be tested and actually given enough rope to "hang" himself...or where at least his true motivations would be exposed.....as so many other underlying or hidden motivations are being forced into the light these days, both within the Church AND in the world!
