They would definitely be advised to object to the attempted ground war. It’s hard to see it being anything other than carnage. And the main driver seems to be people expecting ‘Rapture’. What dark recess of Hell did that heresy crawl out from?

Actually, Pope Leo has been one of the few voices for peace during these recent conflicts. Here's his not so veiled response to Hegsdeath's war prayer:

I wonder does it ever occur to devotees of Trump and his regime that bombs can't move people back to the stone age. Trump and his Secretary of War are living proof of this. They claim to live in a jungle and that their big clubs and arrows make them jungle kings. They don't pierce their noses with bone fragments but they sure revel in death and destruction. Trump probably has already hand picked the sculptor to carve his image on Mount Rushmore. When your measure of greatness is how many people you can kill, it won't be long before the stone age will be no more than a milestone on your regressive path. It's all very sad - the saddest part being leaders of former Christian nations bowing and scraping before him - calling him "daddy" like a house slave calling his white owner "master".

Good point. This is completely absent from Christian tradition and literature.

It makes absolutely no sense. It belongs in bad science fiction novels.

And yet it seems to be the driving force behind the dark forces pushing the world to the brink of world war 3.

Thanks Whatever, I hadn't seen what the Pope said, though I knew he had called for Peace in his homily.

    From the article linked above:

"Near the end of his homily, the pope entrusted his plea for peace to the intercession of Mary, quoting the Servant of God Bishop Tonino Bello and praying that “the tears of all the victims of violence and pain will soon be dried up.”

He concluded the Angelus by asking the Virgin Mary to accompany the faithful through the days ahead.

“May she guide us during these holy days, so that we may follow Jesus, our Savior, with faith and love,” he said."

    Amen!

Some of the stories going about are bizarre. Two helicopters sent in to try and rescue the pilots from the F-15 shot down today in South-West Iran were themselves shot down by small-arms fire from traffic police. The US is claiming that both crews are ok! Presumably, they miraculously escaped relatively unhurt and managed to evade capture. The Iranians have at least one POW from the F-15. They have a reputation for treating POW’s quite well.

I don't think it is confirmed that the Iranians have captured the second F-15 pilot. They have offered a reward for information leading to his capture. According to some pundits, he could be in the Baluchistan region which is an area of Iran bordering Pakistan. There are a lot of Arabs in that area and there is a paramilitary group of Baluchis at odds with both the Iranian and Pakistani governments. They could be one of the groups the US was hoping to help overthrow the Iranian government. The pilot's safety may depend on who finds him first.

These times must be very difficult for Pope Leo.

Very difficult, too, for Christians in majority Muslim countries especially Iran. The US/Israeli zionist alliance has assassinated every leader trying to make peace with the West, giving hardliners plenty of reason to clamp down hard on non-Muslims in their countries when this war is over. Also, I'm surprised that Western Jews haven't protested the Israelis closing non Jewish places of worship in Jerusalem. Security is the excuse used by the Israelis. What's to stop governments in other countries where there are claims of a rise in anti-semitisim shutting synagogues as a security measure?

    From news online
"Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf took a sharp jab at the United States (on X/Twitter) following reports of a downed fighter jet, using sarcasm to question Washington’s strategy.

"After defeating Iran 37 times in a row, this brilliant no-strategy war they started has now been downgraded from “regime change” to “Hey! Can anyone find our pilots? Please?” Wow. What incredible progress. Absolute geniuses," he said."

Looks like they're not quite in the Stone Age yet.

I couldn’t help but notice that, if the possible schism of the FSSPX occurs on July 1st, it will coincide with global turmoil, when European countries’ fuel reserves are at critically low levels. As you once said, if I’m not mistaken, the state of the world reflects the state of the Church. Leo has been steering the ship well in recent months, but the consequences of Traditionis Custodes may come due for him to face in the coming months.

I would have thought that Iran wouldn’t play that card this early. They usually signal things well in advance, but have made no strong hints about this.

Of course, it would bring things very much to a head, but surely wiping out a US ground assault could achieve much the same, while leaving this ‘nuclear’ one still in their hands?

Perhaps Russian intelligence will warn Iran of the imminent invasion of Kharg Island and, in turn, the country will activate this "emergency protocol" hours in advance. This would trigger internal unrest against Trump: disobedience to military call-ups and protests in the face of the severe energy and economic crisis that would result from it.
