TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 1961: KING BAUDOIN AGAIN AT SAN SEBASTIAN DE GARABANDAL The Belgian sovereign had already visited San Sebastian de Garabandal several times. Taking advantage of holidays he was spending in Spain with his wife of Spanish origin, Queen Fabiola, he returned to this village on September 12, 1961. He thus attended the ecstasies of that day and even found himself "bound" to one of the visionaries in a particular way. One of them made a step backward and stepped on his foot, to the point of keeping him rooted to the spot! At the funeral Mass for King Baudoin (d. July 31, 1993), Cardinal Daneels (Malines - Brussels) dwelt at length on the "secret" of the deceased man. Under the cover of the monarch's public activities, flowed a calm and hidden spring: his life in God, to the rhythm of prayer and penance with a great devotion to the Blessed Virgin, whom he venerated very particularly as "Our Lady of Mount Carmel," and to the Eucharist. "The day will come when the Sovereign's 'secret' will be revealed, and the world will then be in amazement," explained Cardinal Daneels. Excerpted from 'Garabandal' Book J. According to the Belgian constitution, all laws passed by the legislature had to be signed by the king in order to become law. - Glenn
TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY: SEPTEMBER 13, 1961: THE NIGHT OF THE FIFTY ECSTASIES! (AND LOLI TAKES MARY'S PICTURE ). From midnight to 4 A.M., Loli and Conchita had close to fifty ecstasies at Conchita's home. Taking advantage of a moment of intermission, Reverend Ramon de la Riva, handed Conchita his old camera equipped with bellows and suggested that she take a photo of the Blessed Virgin. The girl rather handed the camera to Mari-Loli, then in ecstasy; she, not knowing anything about operating this camera, nevertheless went through the five steps needed to take a picture. The photos were failures . . . The Blessed Virgin explained through the intermediary Mari-Loli to the good pastor of Barro, that "even if these photos had been better, he would not in any way have believed more than he already did." Two other attempts, also by Mari-Loli, to "photograph" the Virgin of Mount Carmel (on March 12, 1962 and January 1, 1963) apparently did not come out any better. Excerpted from 'Garabandal' Book, J. THE WARNING Conchita September 14, 1965 Q. Will the Warning be a visible thing or an interior thing or both? A. The Warning is a thing that comes directly from God and will be visible throughout the entire world, in whatever place anyone might be. Q. Will the Warning reveal personal sins to every person in the world and to persons of all faith, including atheists? A. Yes, the Warning will be like a revelation of our sins, and it will be seen and experienced equally by believers and non-believers and people of any religion whatsoever. Q. Will the Warning be recognized and accepted by the world as a direct sign from God?. A. Warning in an "Even Year". Here's how that came about. In the book, “Suddenly & Unexpectedly, The end of our Times” by Tom Fahy .pg .93 (Published November 11, 2012 ) “ I have been informed more than once that Mari Loli has said to some persons that the Warning will come in an even numbered year.” EMAIL: Thomas Fahy to Glenn Hudson 3-20-15 Dear Glenn, In the late 1980´s or early 1990´s, two Priests, whom I knew personally at that time, visited Mari Loli in Massachusetts. On their return one of the Priests told me that Mari Loli disclosed to them, when they were leaving, that the Warning would be in an even-numbered year. Several years later I asked the same Priest if Mari Loli said even numbered year. He said, "Yes". I have also read about or heard the same from other sources, which I do not recall now. In another situation, I was told by a man in Massachussets, who knows the Pastor of the Church that Mari Loli attended, that Mari Loli was speaking to her Pastor in Massachusetts one day, after he came to know about her relation with Garabandal, and told him that she could not remember whether the Blessed Virgin told her that it was 3 weeks or 3 months that the Warning would precede the Miracle. That would confirm that the Warning and Miracle are in the same year, as she said in her July 27, 1975 publicized interview. I take the same year to be the same calendar year. TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY : SEPTEMBER 15, 1961: The "film of sinners" unfolds before the eyes of Mari-Cruz and Conchita! THE "FILM OF SINNERS" In the two Messages of Garabandal, the prediction of the Chastisement that will strike the entire human race, if the latter persists in its immoral behavior, strongly expresses what Msgr. Beitia Aldazabal, the principle titular bishop of Santander at the time of the apparitions and locutions, called "the doctrine of God offended by our sins." This expression occurs eight hundred times in the Bible. In the Old Covenant, it is already associated with the holiness of God. Horror of sin was instilled in the girls from the beginning of the apparitions by a Marian catechesis sustained and, at times, even highlighted with very painful ecstasies bearing on the iniquity of the world and the ordeals it would create. While awaiting original complementary documents, we set this terrifying vision, during which the Blessed Virgin showed the "film of sinners" to the visionaries, on September 15, Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. Then the terrified protestations of the children were heard: "No, no! , , , What horror! How hideous! Take that away (from our sight) . . . Yes, sacrifices (for sinners)! . . ." September 16, 1962 :EXPRESSIONS OF CHARITY Of the many teachings Our Lady gave at Garabandal to the visionaries and all of us, were lessons in charity. On one occasion, the Blessed Virgin gave a very pointed lesson on charity that would not be easily forgotten by those in the village. Father Valentin Marichalar, the pastor, made the following entry in his journal for September 16, 1962, a Sunday: There is a man in the village who is half crazy and does stupid things that could be very wrongly interpreted by the visitors who don't know his mental condition. He had been in an insane asylum for a year and now has decided to stay here. This is causing trouble and annoyance, and he will have to be sent away. During the ecstasy on this day, Loli and Conchita went to the house where this disturbed man, Alfonso, was staying and, with a crucifix, they made the sign of the cross there on the pillow of his bed. And while passing by him, they gave him the crucifix to kiss several times. The disturbed man froze on his knees. That night Father Anzizu commented: "What a lesson in charity the girls have given us." Conchita was asked why she had gone to the place where the deranged man was and had repeatedly given him the crucifix to kiss. She answered, "The Virgin told us: 'You despise him, but I love him.' TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY September 17, 1962 Conchita and (Mari) Loli received Communion from the Angel in the morning at the door of the Church. Loli had an apparition alone at 1. It lasted 15 minutes. She gave medals, rings, and rosaries to the Virgin to kiss. She didn’t leave the house. A widow gave me her wedding rings that day; since she was a widow she had her husband’s ring as well. I put the 6 rings that were given to me on my finger, and without explanation I asked for Loli’s finger and put them on hers. She had 10 wedding rings on her fingers. TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY SEPTEMBER 18, 1962: "September 18, 1962, Tuesday. In the morning Loli and Conchita received Communion from the Angel at the door of the Church. In the afternoon the other two girls had an apparition at 5:30. It lasted an hour and a half. They met in the street and ran throughout the village, praying the rosary. They went up to the Pines and descended backwards. It ended at the door of the Church, and they lifted each other to kiss and be kissed by the Virgin. " Fr. Valentin Marichalar Torres , Notebook #2 , September 18, 1962 * An important fact here is that while in ecstasy, the girls could not be picked by grown men, but could easily pick each other up, to kiss our Lady.
TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY SEPTEMBER 19, 1962: "COMMUNISM" IS MENTIONED AGAIN . . . Mari-Loli and Jacinta again mentioned the theme of communism. A theme suited to the occasion on this anniversary of the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary at La Salette, on September 19, 1846. We know that certain elements of Melanie's famous secret indeed concerned the great evil of communism that was then soon to begin to spread more and more throughout the world . . . As they came out of their ecstasy, the two visionaries did not want to disclose Our Lady's words: these were certainly related to the very difficult period of time of the Pre-Aviso ( pre-warning) . It was only in 1978 that Mari-Loli and Jacinta confirmed the fact that Mary had really spoken to them of communism and had done so on more than one occasion. From 'Garabandal' Book, J. With today's press conference the Dicastery made mention of Garabandal as falling more in the category of Curator. This was not a formal declaration on Garabandal but a side comment to a question. "Curatur – While various or significant critical elements are noted, at the same time, the phenomenon has already spread widely, and there are verifiable spiritual fruits connected to it. In this situation, a ban that could upset the People of God is not recommended. Nevertheless, the Diocesan Bishop is asked not to encourage this phenomenon but to seek out alternative expressions of devotion and possibly reorient its spiritual and pastoral aspects." We will have to wait for a more formal assessment of Garabandal in the future.
The "assessment " from Saint Padre Pio, Saint Mother Tteresa, Saint Pope John Paul II, Saint Pope Paul VI, Saint (Fr. ) Jose Maria Escriva, and a host of others , and countless documented miracles, is all I need.
Don't try to test our Blessed Mother ! September 20, 1962 Loli had an apparition at 3 in the morning. It lasted half an hour. She gave the cross for everyone to kiss and gave cards to the Virgen to kiss. A man put something on the table that had already been kissed as a test. The girl lifted it up with the other things to be kissed, and we heard her say: “Oh! It has already been kissed!” One of the rosaries that she gave the Virgin fell to the ground, and it was the rosary that the man had put on the table. Fr. Valentin Marichalar Torres , Notebook #2 , September 20, 1962 - ------------------------------------------------------------ Two couples approached Conchita and gave her four wedding rings, so that in her next ecstasy she would give them to be kissed by the Virgin. As Conchita offered the rings to Our Lady, she was heard to say: "You don't want to kiss them? But I don't understand. Ah! So I have to tell them to straighten out their lives and be good?" After the ecstasy, Conchita returned the rings to the man who had given them to her and told him and his companions what the Virgin had said. He was very embarrassed and said, "We came here to prove Garabandal was false if the girls gave us back the rings on our fingers, because none of us are married and we only bought the rings for this occasion." I love this story, Glenn. It reminds me of our duty to call people on, and even challenge them to repent, if their lives don't conform to the Gospel, including my own.
In the recent Vatican news about apparitions, some were disappointed that Garabandal has not received the attention it is due by the Vatican. The Vatican feels that it would be prudent to wait until the Miracle date is fulfilled before approving the apparitions. So, you can honestly say that it is “awaiting approval”. THIS IS WHY THEY CAN NOT APPROVE IT YET. There has been no official Vatican ruling yet because in 1966 Conchita was summoned by the Vatican and questioned by Cardinal Alfredo Ottaviani and his staff (which included the Pope’s Personal Secretary) for over 2 hours, convinced or her story, they requested a meeting with Pope Paul VI. Conchita and her Mother, and Dr. Medi met the Pope in a private meeting the next day. At the end of that meeting, Conchita revealed the date of the Miracle. The Holy Father came to her and announced joyfully in a clear voice, "Conchita, I, the Pope, bless you and with me the whole Church blesses you." In December of 1975 Garabandal Visionary Jacinta Gonzalez Monahan visited Rome to commemorate the Holy year and while there, was summoned for questioning by Vatican officials in regard to the Spanish apparitions which lasted from 1961 through 1965. Details of the meeting, other than the fact that Jacinta’s integrity left a very favorable impression, are confidential at this time. One thing however, was clearly demonstrated, the investigative authority of the church is still actively interested in the events of Garabandal. " “Needles” magazine, Summer issue 1976, page 23 Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XVI) wrote a letter on November 28, 1992 (in response to the latest commission/investigation) saying that there will be no promulgation from Rome for the time being and that the case continues to be open (in the event that more evidence wants to be submitted in the future regarding fruits /miracles / etc). Garabandal has never been condemned as is clearly stated in the nota of Bishop Eugenio Beitia Aldazabal dated 8 July 1965 -- "we have found no grounds for an ecclesiastical condemnation" (And this has been specifically confirmed by Bishop del Val Gallo in the video entitled Garabandal - the Eyewitnesses.) So everyone can relax, our day will come after the Warning and Miracle, in God’s time.
