Yes, Peter denied being a follower of Christ and that he knew him and then wept bitterly over his denial. But, once the church was founded on Pentecost and he and the other disciples received the out pouring of the Holy Spirit{which priests and bishops receive in a special way too}he never renounced his declaration-"You are the Christ, the Son of the living God". We need a clear declaration from this "Peter".
I am afraid if a person does not believe that Jesus is Son of God he is no longer a Christian. He is Apostate. An Arian heretic.
I just saw this news tonight and I almost cried. This is such huge news that the Vatican's "side-step" is not at all adequate. This is a well known journalist who has just made worldwide headlines accusing the Pope of striking at the very heart of his own Church. Saying that those were not the Pope's exact words is not even close to sufficient. Nothing short of a full blown denial of the truth of the story, followed by an affirmation of the Pope's belief in the Divinity of Christ and a cessation of all future interviews with Scalfari will suffice. NOTHING.
Unfortunately none of that is going to happen. We have a heretic/apostate man sitting in the See of St. Peter, calling himself the pope. I owe him NO obedience WHATSOEVER. And I do so with a COMPLETELY clear conscience! So we ask ourselves, what do we do now?
We have to wait and see and pray the Rosary, stay in the state of grace, go to Confession. As events unfold, we will know. Happening fast now. Jesus, I trust in You. Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity, of Your dearly beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins, and those of the whole world. We are being led. We can’t get ahead of His leading.
There’s a reason this man refuses to genuflect for the Consecration or kneel for Adoration. He has no supernatural Faith. It’s been apparent since the first year of his papacy.
No I don't think it really will happen. So we will be left to twist in the wind. I very much understand how you feel, but we don't have the authority as individuals to separate from the Pope. That only hurts our own souls. Someone in authority needs to stand up and handle this. Whatever happened to that Fraternal Correction? Did they decide not to do it because they were afraid of a schism? As Dr. Phil says "How's that workin' out for ya?"
I'm not. Not expecting that at all. I was just saying that would be the "normal" response to a charge by a close personal friend that you have betrayed your own Church and all of the faithful. The Church you are the leader of and the God who is supposed to be the center of your life. Scalfari is described as Pope Francis' friend. If he is making this up then what kind of friend is he? If this is a lie then he has just portrayed Pope Francis as the worst Pope in history. Scalfari has portrayed the Pope as an apostate, heretic, fraud, liar and deceiver all at once. You would think that would deserve a very strong worded denial and rebuttal. And for the Vatican to come back and merely say "Well those were not the Pope's exact words..." What kind of a non-denial is that? Do they think we're morons? In fact the machiavellian side of me wonders if this is an intentional poke in the eye to provoke a schism.
This is all planned to the last move. However there is an additional thing. The devil and the devils children love to have a sneering laugh. It is a gesture to say,' I've won. I've Peter's Chair for myself. You're all finished'. he couldn't resist it. Typical. As I siad, a nasty bad lot. Truly the children of thier Father the Devil.
Exactly right. Let’s think and pray our way through this and not react like they hoped we would. The only other option is to in essence become a sede. And that is not what we are being led to be right now.
I have a real problem with this. Can an apostate be Pope? And what does a Pope have to do for his apostasy to be recognised for what it is? Stand at the altar in St. Peter's at the Consecration and say "This is the body of a good man who was crucified but he wasn't God"? Unless the Pope only speaks to liars, he has described the Eucharist as a "little bread and wine". That quote came from the Argentinian remarried divorcee whose letter he miraculously pulled out of the Vatican's postbag just before he gifted us Amoris Laetitia. He has also gifted the "power of the keys" to a previously laicised homosexual priest whom he reinstated two years ago: https://www.churchmilitant.com/news/article/pope-restores-lgbt-activist-through-phone-call That report is in Church Militant but Alison tells the story here: https://www.thetablet.co.uk/features/2/16788/-this-is-pope-francis-calling- There are other reports such as the gay rights activists in Argentina who said that Cardinal Bergoglio told them that he didn't believe his own public statements but that he had to make those statements. Added to his non-denials of what he told Scalfari, his own questionable statements about marriage and Grace and his promoting pastoral practices contrary to the Faith, the evidence that he is not a believing Catholic is about as overwhelming as it can be for a man who wants to hold on to a position he would automatically lose if he were to put his beliefs on the record. He has also told bare faced lies about when he received the Dubia and what he knew about McCarrick. We can't go anywhere because there is only one true Church, but when do we reach the stage where we stop ignoring the reason God gave us to assist in determining right from wrong and truth from falsehood?
I have a real problem with the situation too, but the fact is we're stuck in a bad place right now. The only way at all out of it might be the Fraternal Correction, which if Pope Francis rejects it could prove him a pertinacious heretic. Cardinal Burke laid this out years ago following the thoughts of St. Bellarmine on the subject. Why he hasn't acted yet is anybody's guess. Or perhaps he has done this in private, but it takes about a year for the whole process to work through as the recipient of the correction must be warned twice with a 6 month grace period to answer each warning.
I remember Fr. Malachi Martin was asked once if there were any condition under which he might reveal the Third Secret. He thought for a moment and said yes, if there were a total collapse at the center. I think that is what we are wintessing now. A total collapse of the Church structure. Perhaps he knew this was coming.
If the bishops and cardinals were believers they would force the Pope to recant or 'drive' him out of the Vatican because we cannot have someone in the office who has denied the divinity of our Lord. I hope he comes out and makes it clear Scalfari is wrong but I won't hold my breath. Terrible, terrible times -
Into the bargain Francis has a duty to clarify what he said to Scalfari for the sake of Scalfaris's soul and salvation. He has a duty to Scalfari to proclaim the truth of the Gospel that Christ is the Incarnate Word of God both human and Divine. Scalfari deserves like every man to hear and understand the truth of salvation. He deserves a proper explanation. A teacher has a duty to clarify! But the salvation of souls appears to be last on the list under this 'pontificate'.
This 'Pope' needs corrected and now!! http://www.correctiofilialis.org/ http://www.correctiofilialis.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Correctio-filialis_English_1.pdf Not only corrected but he should be made to sign a declaration of faith that contains the Nicene Crede!
I hope people like Michael Voris do not fall into the trap that is being laid for them and declare the Seat of Peter Vacant. That would be a horrible mistake. Just what the Vatican is hoping for.
What an absurd situation to waken up to as if from some mad dream. We have a destroyer at the top of the Church!
Interesting that this Scalfari thing was thrown into the ring at the same time as this Sham Synod of the Amazing Amazon. It appears to have been designed to provoke schism.
