I would be wary of drinking milk that hasn't been pasteurised. It's probably fine nowadays especially if you know and trust the farmer but pasteurised milk is safer. Not knowing any farmers, I'm going to try freezing milk. I can use ice cube trays and store the cubes in freezer bags. I didn't realise that it's safe to freeze dairy produce like milk, butter and cheese. There's lots of info and how-to videos online about it. Even eggs can be frozen - just break them into a cup or plastic container and beat them a little with a fork before storing them in the freezer. Think I'll put a proper freezer on my shopping list.
Good tip about freezing milk in ice cube trays, I will definitely try this. I have two refrigerator/freezers, but with many mouths to feed freezer space is at a premium. I am still chipping away at my supply list. I found some N95 masks at the hardware store today. It feels so weird, like some kind of undercover operation. The CDC did a press conference today. They feel confident the US is safe for now but they didnt rule out extreme measures if necessary. They were very helpful and informative. I think you can find it on you tube.
I hate to say this but I think that the USA and other countries should not allow travel from and to Italy until things are more under control there. In addition, to an Italian in Brazil testing positive for the virus and Italian who traveled to one of the Canary Islands has tested positive also, I believe. I think that it would be best to air on the side of caution. I hope that the president makes this decision soon. I don't like that the CDC announced today that it is not a matter of if but a matter of when the US will experience an outbreak. I mean I can't help but wonder if they sort of gave up in a sense or maybe they are too concerned about the stock market and such.

I have a technical question about how Doctors are determining who has COVID-19. I am wondering how little villages in Italy are determining this diagnosis. Are they set up with reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction assay equipment? Are the technicians trained so as to perform the tests without error? According to the wikipedia page on COVID-19 : Chinese pulmonologist Wang Chen reported that this method of RT-PCR testing would give false positive in 50-70% of cases. (That is MAJOR) What I am trying to express is that testing for COVID-19 should be much more extensive than say testing for strep throat because testing requires reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction assays so how are we to know that these people have COVID-19 or are just sick with a different strain of corona virus? It doesn't add up does it? I have to wonder then why are some officials going full blown panic mode over it. Is there a reason people would specifically want to spread panic and stall the economy? Here in the US, the mayor of San Francisco declared an emergency over the virus although there is not a single confirmed case in the city.
Sorry, I think it is being hyped to suppress the Mass. That is what I originally thought and that is what I think now. I will not follow this thread any longer. No virus is going to steal my peace and suppress my freedoms.
