  1. Message from the parish priest in Lodi, Italy to his parishioners
    taken from Medjugorjetuttiigiorni
translated from Italian using an online translator
Dear brothers and sisters, none of us, perhaps, would have thought to be in the situation where, we came to see this outbreak. Our mind is bewildered, the emergency seemed so far away. But it is here, in our house.
This fact leads us to consider how in the world we have become one big family. Now we have to follow the indications that the authorities have established, including the cessation of the celebration of Mass. It is easy, in this situation, let go spiritually, becoming apathetic towards prayer.
I invite you, however, dear brothers and sisters, to increase the prayer, which always opens the situations to God. We realize, in junctures like the present, of our helplessness, so we cry to God, to our surprise, our suffering, our fear. I was reminded yesterday, the track that is read on Ash Wednesday, taken from the prophet Joel, where it is said: "Between the porch and the altar let the priests, ministers of the Lord, and say:" Forgive, Lord, your people. ' " I am not ashamed to tell you that yesterday, before the tabernacle and the statue of the Assumption, I cried too. And I ask you to raise with me to the Lord, the cry of our prayer. To pray means to have hope. I remember you all in the daily Eucharist with me and Don Manuel, Don Gino and Don Abel.
When you hear ringing bells of the Mass, join the priest who offers the sacrifice of the Lord for all. Tomorrow morning, after Mass to celebrate at 11.00, I will go out in the churchyard of the parish blessing with the Blessed Sacrament throughout the parish and throughout the country. We remember especially those who have been infected with corona virus and their families, lest they be discouraged, but also all health care workers who are spending to cope with contagion. We are united in prayer. Your parish priest, Father Gabriel.
(Father celebrated mass at 11:00, just himself and the other resident priests. He then went in the church courtyard and beyond holding the Blessed Sacrament and processed throughout the village praying and holding the Blessed Sacrament.

Sobering, but critical information from the recent videos, which are becoming more urgent by the day. Like Italy, most people will wait until the virus is on their doorstep before they realize they should have been prepared. I read another report today indicating that China is rushing to reopen factories thus taking a big risk of reinfection.
So sad about the cessation of Mass in Lodi, Italy. :(

We are being humbled. Thank you for posting this from the priest in Italy. Terrifying.

President Trump is in India. My understanding is that India is also being affected by shortages from lack of trade with China. Medicines were mentioned in a recent video from Steve Bannon. Perhaps our President can work something out with India for mutual benefit during this very grave crisis.

I wish our Bishops would lead us in prayers, fasting and reparation to alleviate this plague, the Bishop of Rome being first.

Why am I not holding my breath?

So interesting that this has come upon us at the very start of Lent. A Sign?

(Or maybe another result of Global Warming, over population, Under Globalisation or whatever the now buzz word is)

It ties in with Sister Sasagawa. The angel told her to wear ashes and pray penitential Rosaries.sounds very Lenten to me--and a definite warning.
I thought that priest in Lodi was wonderful. His words were uplifting and hopeful.

Today, I did my first emergency shop. It’s not much, tinned food, water, batteries, paracetamol. I’ll do more tomorrow. It’s small, but it’s something. I just can’t face panic buying and long queues of panicking shoppers, some of whom may be unknowingly infecting people around them. It’s a just in case measure, and, if nothing happens, no big deal, I love corned beef and tinned fruit anyway lol.
Also, I’ve a huge back yard. Im taking Thursday and Friday off work to make a long weekend, to start work on sowing food. I’m never gonna let myself depend on supermarkets for food again.
Im not sure what to make of Medjugorje, but I always thought that returning to nature and growing your own food was great advice from ‘a friend of Medjugorje’.

I'm hitting the stores tomorrow myself.

I feel a little bit foolish for doing so.

    But I am.

It's mind blowing and a revelation to me how governments all over the world can tell us with a straight face total, blatant, outright, outrageous lies about all this and do so for, 'Your own good'. As though lying were aright when Governments do so.

Why should we trust people who lie to us like this be trusted with anything else they say or do?

I shouldn't be surprised, but I am. Maybe I still preserve a little trace of childlike innocence. The continual and never ending steam of lies from the Vatican Press Office and High Ranking Vatican Officials for instance still has the power to startle me.

I wonder if the world has always been like this? Lies, lies and more lies, 'For their own good'.

Well.. don't trouble yourself on my behalf, I never asked or wanted you to tell me lies.

Thank you very much for posting these videos Dolours. I have only watched the short one so far but I like it very much and I plan on forwarding it to family and friends. I like that it is short and informative and my children are more likely to take my advice if they also hear it from a medical doctor. It is also great that he explains why it is best that we dress appropriately in cold weather. Excellent, such a great find!

In the city, with lots of neighbors, this is just inviting others to steal what you have.
Of course, neighbors can always band together--you'd hope.

Milk in one thing that will be unavailable in shops if things get bad. Panic shoppers always seem to want to buy as much as possible leaving little for others. Does anyone recommend powder milk? I never used it. I just want to make sure I have a reasonably nice cup of tea when the SHTF.

  16. I checked the expiration date on powdered milk. The product on the shelf had an expiration date of November 2020.

A year might be fine, I wouldn't fancy a cup of tea with year old real milk.

You bring up a good point. I do have a few things in mind for Lent but black tea might sneak onto that list. But I am not supposed to mention my lent list, so I wont. Good luck to everyone for Lent, what a great time it is.
