I just received some very sad news this evening that brought me to tears. Our archdiocese here in Santa Fe, NM decided to close all churches and Catholic schools because of this virus. We have six positive cases so far here in New Mexico and they made the decision based on this. They had already implemented communion in the hand only and no holding hands during the Lords prayer. I didn't expect this to happen here so quickly!!
I understand your sorrow. Our Parish has even stopped the Stations of the Cross on Friday evenings as well I found out this evening. For now, the church is open during the day to come and pray with adoration and the Blessed Sacrament. I don't expect this to last long though.
Don_D I pray that this is very short lived. In the words of St. Padre Pio, "Pray, hope and don't worry"
To Denmomof3, I used to live in Santa Fe NM. I now live in New Zealand. While in Santa Fe, I joined the Third Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. But I had to leave Santa Fe to return to NZ before I had made my permanent vows. Now here in NZ I am needing the email address of the President of the Third Order, but I cannot get it. I called the Archdiocese of Santa Fe recently to ask for it, but the person who answered the phone said that there is no Third Order of Carmelites in Santa Fe. I'm wondering if you could obtain the email address for me and post it on here or private message it to me? You may know someone who belongs to the Third Order who could help? It used to be attached to the Cathedral Parish of Saint Francis of Assisi. I lived in the Parish of Christo Rey.

A decision has been made by the Diocese of Meath to suspend all public Masses throughout the diocese for the immediate future. Dr Tom Deenihan, Bishop of Meath, has instructed priests to say Masses only in private because the church cannot guarantee attendances of fewer than 100 people. The new directive is effective immediately. Starting tomorrow morning, Friday, the Cathedral of Christ the King in Mullingar will have its usual schedule of Masses; however, the public will not be admitted. People will be able to view the Masses on the cathedral webcam. That applies to Masses at 7.45am and 10am, and also the 9.15am Mass, normally at St Paul’s Church, will transfer to the cathedral because there is no webcam at St Paul’s. The measure is to apply to all churches across the diocese. Weddings and funerals will still be permitted, but attendance is restricted to family only. The Cathedral will open to the public after the 10am Mass. The church had earlier been confident it would be able to keep Masses going, but became concerned over the practicalities and the danger of breaching the 100-person limit.
http://www.westmeathexaminer.ie/2020/03/12/army-on-alert-and-panic-buying-underway/ Army on alert The Defence Forces has confirmed that all its personnel have been put on alert. Soldiers in Custume Barracks were believed yesterday to have been notified to be prepared from Monday for immediate deployment. In a statement today, the Defence Forces has confirmed that it has “notified our personnel of the impending change to our force posture and all non-essential activities have been suspended. It's believed to be the first time since the Foot and Mouth crisis that the Defence Forces has issued this order. “Our focus now is to maximise our preparedness to respond to requests for assistance from the Civil Authorities. “Protecting our personnel is our priority and is key to maintaining our capability to provide support to communities and civil authorities, when requested. “For operational security reasons, we will not comment on specific dispositions of troops or on internal unit procedures at this time,” the statement concluded.
It's maybe not altogether their fault. They see Rome doing it and they follow on like Lemmings over the cliff.
The Polish bishops decided to dilute the attendance per Mass by offering more of them. I suppose we in Ireland have insufficient numbers of priests.
If only we had more of that kind of spirit around here. So many bishops and priests fall over at the slightest gust of wind. I'm expecting the churches to close down on a massive scale over this stronger than average gust.
poor man, pray for him, to be released of these false revelations. Jennifer? Oh boy... this message of Jennifer even her was embarrassed and stopped posting the locutions on her website. Mark seems to be a parrot of milions of locutionist. This is a grave error. This coronavirus will pass and what will be the next locutions he will repeat saying is the point of no return?
I am shocked at the amount of churches closing their doors. Heaven's tears must be raining down now. I do hope we see Cardinal against Cardinal, Bishop against Bishop and Priests against Priest. Where are the courageous disciples of God who will not allow their church doors be closed to the people who need the sacraments now more than ever? Which is better? Obey the local Bishop or deliver the Mass and places of comfort and prayer to the flock?
Yesterday, Padraig wrote a thought on closing of churches as a husband locking his nurse wife out of the house. It was profound. I wish I could find it. If someone does, can they reprint it?
I am in the North East US. Our schools are shut down. Panic at the shopping centers. Most people are working remotely from home. Nursing homes are not allowing visitors. Everybody is cancelling upcoming travel plans. The market fell dramatically yesterday. With all of this I continue to stay close to God. I hope we will have daily Mass in my diocese for now. It may end soon including all public masses. Thinking of church approved revelations and upcoming chastisements. Wondering if this virus was the chastisement they had been referring to or is this the very beginning to be followed by war, etc..... We need to encourage each other here, pray for each other and lift each other up in difficult times. God bless everyone here.
Sometime ago, someone on the forum mentioned that a Priest they knew of was not making any travel plans or arrangements after February of this year if I remember correctly. Does anyone remember who that is? I can't remember what thread it was on.
At confession this week I was working on forgiveness of someone who really wronged me in a major way. It was a friend who had been having a long term affair with my now ex spouse. I told father that I know I had forgiven my spouse ultimately after a few years now because I could feel it inside but the anger, anxiety and stress I still feel whenever I hear this person's name or see them, I am just not over. He responded to me with a simple prayer to recite whenever I feel these things that I honestly had never heard before but since then has brought so much calm to me in all of this. And by all of this, I mean everything and not just what I was trying to work on as stated in the confessional. I obviously have always known that we are to give to God all our anger and stresses and learn to simply say, Thy Will Be Done, but it is so much more powerful and freeing when we receive such great, simple wisdom in the confessional which I know is directly from our Lord and penetrates our souls. I am sure many of you know this prayer but I will add it here nonetheless because my hope is it brings peace and calm in whatever storms are in your heart to those here as well. Suscipe St. Ignatius of Loyola Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding, and my entire will, All I have and call my own. You have given all to me. To you, Lord, I return it. Everything is yours; do with it what you will. Give me only your love and your grace, that is enough for me.
