  2. Sorry, but you don't have your facts straight. Your chosen "deceased local" Bishop only gave reasons that there was nothing against Church teaching and his personal advocacy for the devotion, having the closest connection to the seer and history of the devotion. That was AB Leibold. He was Sr. Mildred's (the seer) spiritual director. Rather, Bishop Leibold always worked with the Bishop of Toledo who was the true authority over any final approval and Bishop L. always insisted upon that. You have your levels of "approval" confused here. Bishop L. did create the medal that put his personal stamp of approval on the devotion and promised to cause, from heaven after his death, that he would continue bringing the devotion its "future" fulfillment. That of course gave people the confidence to continue to learn more of and to spread the devotion. The Bishop of Toledo has always been the "local" Bishop of authority over the devotion and recognized as so. And while the devotion was going forward and becoming better known the Toledo Bishop at the time, Bishop Blair, chose not to get involved in any formal commission but he refused to grant those who have interfered with the devotion and who have actually set it back their requested involvement in an association of the faithful to further the devotion. They later took it to a civil court to establish just what they could legally get their hands on within the devotion's messages, prayers, etc. in order to gain more personal control beyond what the Center had insisted upon in order to keep the devotion wholly intact and pure as Sr. Mildred had desired and given over to the last remaining sister of the order in her last will and testament. But those who were causing the interruption continued to send out the statement solicited by them from Cardinal Burke in order to indirectly overstep that still needed formal commission that was obviously being delayed.....obviously a bit too long for their purposes! So with their usurped mailing list of the Center they promoted that statement which, as you are unknowingly witnessing to yourself here, was confusing the public as to the correct status of the devotion. As I said before Burke was finally challenged in an interview as to whether he should have allowed this impression to go forward to the faithful and he had to admit that he was not THE Church authority over the devotion which was still awaiting that final Church approval but was just giving his personal stamp of approval as to there being nothing in his estimation and expertise that was against Canon Law.

The Luz de Maria have been given a similar approval by a Bishop which has encouraged the faithful to be able to continue in the devotion. That is within the Church's own permission for PRs while they continue. That is what is happening within other as yet finally approved PRs such as OLOA or Garabandal....where the history is going forth along with what was given within the period of the ongoing apparitions and messages. Same for Medjugorje. You are thus giving false info re: any formal approval by the Church's recognized authority over the OLOA devotion. You have to make sure that you are not reading a corrupted version or divided version of the Diary that is out there today.

In fact there were several Bishops who had supported the little cloister of remaining sisters with whom Sr. Mildred lived until her death.

The best and purest source for the true history and facts for OLOA is https://ourladyofamerica.com:

It is the story of a Mother’s love for her children, especially her children in America, and her mandate from heaven that we in America, in particular, help her renew the face of the earth by assisting her in bringing America, and the whole world, back to Faith and Purity. She herself says she comes to America as a last resort.

    .........
(Note: The Archbishop to whom the messages were first given passed away and Bishop Leibold succeeded him.)

Bishop Paul F. Leibold, V.G. of the Cincinnati Archdiocese where the Sisters of the Precious Blood’s motherhouse is located, personally compiled the handwritten Diary “without direct references” to specific places in which apparitions or spiritual messages had occurred, the only focus of place being the National Shrine. He wrote the foreword and had Sister “type” the handwritten messages as a “private diary,” printed, not published, author anonymous. To protect Sister Mary Ephrem’s identity and hidden life, she remained unnamed. In the Diary Sister is referred to as “a religious Sister,” the “Little White Dove,” or “this Sister.” This Diary existed in handwritten and/or typewritten form only at this time and was given only to the necessary religious superiors and Church officials and several sisters within the cloister, not to the unrestricted general public. It was not “published” in the legal sense of the word to the “unrestricted public” as required by pre-1978 copyright law and is, therefore not bound by the pre-1978 requirements and is not in public domain. It shows created for publication and registered at the Library of Congress in 1984, after the new 1978 law and therefore automatically protected, fully copyrighted in 1989 with the complete Diary including messages after Archbishop Leibold’s death which he, therefore, could not have approved as mistakenly put into the public by others, re- copyrighted in 1993 with a new image and copyright notice posted to protect against infringement well before the current infringements of copyright and false claims the Diary is in public domain. The Diary must be kept whole and entire, free from all contamination, additions and deletions. The current infringements have deleted the messages after Archbishop Leibold’s death

  7. Well, then tell the Bishop who has granted his personal approval of the whole which includes the New Title, Novena, and prayers that he is not permitted to express this permission for the faithful to continue to be involved with the devotion and that he is outside of what the Church permits while a PR continues. Obviously you'd be wrong and against the Church's own allowance. If you feel unsafe by using this backing then simply visit his personal diocese and receive that comfort that you have the Church's approval there, for where the Bishop is is the Church, and you can then freely delve into all things LdM with that Church's rep there's blessing! The same, done by a more recognized "Bishop" of the Church, C. Burke, did nothing different while people are convinced that his personal stamp IS the final approval. There are many many such PRs that have gone forth w/ the history of various bishops' personal approvals that still await something final, if it ever does come, but that are more or less trusted BECAUSE of the persons of just those Church authorities' personal stamps. I have witnessed no such hysterical objections to what is going forth currently w/ Our Lady of America or Medjugorje (in fact the various types of limiting pronouncements re: Medjugorje coming out of the Vatican allow for both camps, for and against, to continue on w/ only their personal opinions). People are coming to think of PRs as written in stone or something when even w/ the proper local authorities over them, at least for a period of time, have differed with one another's prior pronouncements. You have to keep up to date. An Imprimatur is given great weight when coming from a Bishop of the Church. I have seen no other Bishop's objection to same. And even so then you have to weigh the degree of reliability of each.

Italian police close St. Peter's Square to public

Vatican City, Mar 10, 2020 / 06:29 am (CNA).- The Italian police closed St. Peter’s Square Tuesday following the Italian government decree extending quarantine measures to all of Italy to slow the spread of coronavirus.

The Italian authorities have jurisdiction over the square, which they closed shortly before noon on March 10.

Italian police told CNA the square is closed and no one may enter except for work purposes.

Swiss guards at St. Peter’s Square confirmed to CNA that tourists and pilgrims are not allowed to enter the basilica to pray because if the square is closed the basilica is also “automatically” closed. One said they are waiting for more information.

The Vatican City State has its own legal order that is autonomous and separate from the Italian legal system, but the Holy See Press Office director has repeatedly stated that Vatican City is implementing measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus in coordination with the Italian authorities.

The Holy See Press Office said March 10 St. Peter's Basilica and square are closed to tourists and guided visits from today through April 3, in coordination with the measures taken by the Italian authorities.

The Vatican pharmacy and supermarket remain open but with restricted access, whereas the mobile post office, photo service office, and bookstores will be closed.

The employee caffeteria inside the Vatican will be closed from March 11, with the possibility of a meal delivery service, the statement said.

Scheduled Masses in St. Peter’s Basilica and Sant’Anna in the Vatican took place March 9 and 10 before the closure, as did confessions inside of the basilica, following a previous Italian government decree March 8 suspending all public religious ceremonies.

The thousands of priests who currently reside in the Diocese of Rome are still allowed to celebrate Mass privately after the diocese canceled public Masses on March 8 to abide by the government decree.

Churches throughout the city have also remained open for private prayer with some parishes choosing to offer Eucharistic Adoration. Religious communities in Rome have also told CNA that they have continued to attend private Masses in their residences.

Bishops from France offered a private Mass in the crypt chapel of St. Peter’s Basilica at the tomb of St. Peter March 9, and sat one meter apart during their ad limina meeting with Pope Francis later that day.

The nationwide quarantine in Italy restricts movement around the country and between regions. Restaurants and bars must close at 6pm and gathering in groups is forbidden.

People are encouraged to stay home, but may move around the city for work, to go to the grocery store or pharmacy, or for medical care. In public, people are asked to keep one meter of distance from each other.

Several Vatican officials told CNA that work inside Vatican offices continues despite coronavirus.

Employees and officials have been asked to remain one meter away from each other at all times, to restrict visits from guests, and to not gather around the coffee machine, one official said. He also said essential offices are fully staffed and open for the time being.

An official from another office said he “would be very surprised” if he were asked to work from home, as this is never done. He said for him, work “continues as normal,” but there is some uncertainty for the future.

The Holy See press office is open its regular hours with some employees working remotely. The communications office, where Vatican Media employees work, is working out a system for coverage with fewer employees in the office, but remains open.

  9. Another use of the natural fears to cause even more fears:

Earthquake rocks Italy amid coronavirus outbreak: Tremor in country's north sends people running into the streets

    • Magnitude 2.6 quake struck a mile north of Camaiore in Lucca at 2.17pm today
    • No initial reports of damage but people in area noted 'vibrations' from ground
    • Earthquake comes as the coronavirus death toll reached 463 with 9,000 cases
Italians poured out of their homes in the country's north this afternoon after an earthquake shook Tuscany amid the nation's growing coronavirus outbreak.

The 2.6-magnitude quake, which struck around a mile north of Camaiore, was recorded by the Italian Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology at 2.17pm local time.

It had an epicenter in the Lucca province in Tuscany and a depth of around five miles, ANSA reported.

There were initially no reports of damage as a result of the tremor, though people in Camaiore and nearby Viareggio noted feeling 'vibrations from the ground'.

It was also reported people across Versilia had 'poured out of their houses' when the quake struck the area this afternoon.

The earthquake comes as the coronavirus death toll reached 463 in Italy, with more than 9,000 virus cases confirmed across the stricken nation.

Prime minister Giuseppe Conte declared last night that 'everyone must give up something to protect the health of citizens'.

Anyone with a fever has been ordered to stay indoors with travel banned except in emergencies and public gatherings including weddings, funerals and sports fixtures shut down.

The virus is spreading so quickly that doctors are now having to make life-or-death decisions about who gets access to intensive care.

Italian health officials had warned on Saturday that the northern Lombardy region was starting to run out of hospital beds for its intensive care patients.

The government also began to recall retired doctors as part of an effort to quickly bolster the health service with 20,000 staff.

Ethics rules call on doctors to consider a patient's age and their chance of survival when allocating hospital beds.

The Italian society of anesthesiology and intensive care has published 15 ethical recommendations to consider for doctors when deciding on admissions.

The criteria include the patient's age and the likelihood of survival, and not just 'first come first served.'

'It's a reasoning that our colleagues make,' Dr. Guido Giustetto, head of the association of doctors in northern Piedmont, said yesterday.

'It becomes dramatic if, rather than doing it under normal situations, they do it because the beds are so scarce that someone might not have access to medical care.'

Italy expanded its quarantine measures to all 60million people in the country last night after a lockdown in the hardest-hit north, including Milan and Venice, had failed to slow the outbreak.

'Our habits must be changed, changed now. We all have to give up something for the good of Italy,' prime minister Conte said.

'When I speak of Italy, I speak of our dear ones, of our grandparents and of our parents,' he said.

'We will succeed only if we all collaborate and we adapt right away to these more stringent norms.'

Conte also raged at young people who had continued to gather socially as the virus spread, saying 'this night life ... we can't allow this any more.'

The nationwide restrictions mean that all schools and universities will remain closed until April 3, with cafes, pubs and eateries ordered to close until dusk.

Italians have been ordered not to move around the country except for work and emergencies, with public gatherings and football matches cancelled.

I think Padraig is right, if you're over 70, have underlying health issues, live in an area of outbreak, going to the hospital is useless. From what I've read, heavy doses of Vit C, zinc, Vit D3, and chicken soup work wonders. And warmer weather is coming and that should clear it out. I think Italy is in big trouble because of pachamama, that was a game changer. Just my opinion. And we have all summer to get our gardens in order, dehydrate and can and prepare for another outbreak next fall when the temps cool down.

  15. Study: Virus Symptoms Appear5 Days After Infection

Most people who have come down with the coronavirus started showing symptoms about five days after they were infected, a new study reveals.

The study by Johns Hopkins University is said to be the largest one of known cases worldwide. Researchers analyzed the progression of the disease in 181 cases. The study was detailed in a report by The Wall Street Journal Monday.

According to the newspaper, the study’s findings back up estimates of the incubation period before signs of coughing, fever and respiratory distress appear. And they offer support for the recommended 14-day monitoring and quarantine period for people who have been exposed.

“We have a lot of confidence that the incubation period is around five days,” said Justin Lessler, an epidemiologist at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health who led the research team. “Some people will have really short incubation periods and some people will have really long ones. The goal is catching most cases that are infected and have symptoms developed before the deadline.”

The findings showed that scientists calculated that the median incubation period of the virus is 5.1 days, according to the Journal. And 97.5% of those who do develop symptoms will do so within 11.5 days of exposure.

Isolating people who may have been exposed to an infectious disease can limit an epidemic in the early stages of an outbreak, according to the newspaper.

Meanwhile, Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., is one of several members of Congress who have self-quarantined after coming in contact with a person who has coronavirus at the annual CPAC convention.

Indeed. I wonder would there have been a bigger fuss about it had there been a danger of the horses catching the 'flu.

I smiled when I heard an interview with someone from our Health Service. He said that the corporate sector had been consulted about their plans to contain the virus. The first thought to spring into my head was of self-isolation by having my private jet take me to my secluded mansion.

We don't seem to be getting the huge numbers of infections that they had in Italy. Maybe the HSE's track and self-isolate plan is more effective than we had feared?

Coronavirus: Why is Francis's Italian Bishops Community Scared to Death?
Why is it that males are more effected by the Coronavirus than woman?

Why is it that the all male Francis Italian Bishops community (which apparently might include the Vatican Gay Lobby) is so worried about the Coronavirus that they are banning the Mass in Italy?

Might the scientific information, if it is accurate or correct, below point to one of the possible answers to the above two questions?

Apparently, the Coronavirus isn't that new especially to the "male homosexual" community.

In 1986, the Journal of Clinical Pathology had an article titled "Enteric coronavirus in symptomless homosexuals" in which it was found that:

"The prevalence of enteric coronavirus in male homosexuals in our study is very striking, and it is interesting that a recent study by Kern in Germany showed that 50% of patients with AIDS were excreting enteric coronavirus whereas no virus particles were found in 18 control homosexuals."

"Although sera are available from our patients, we have not felt ethically justified in retrospectively testing them for HIV antibody without their consent. It would be speculative to suggest any correlation between the finding of coronavirus in homosexuals and either HIV infection or AIDS. We intend to amplify our study and try to determine the importance of enteric coronavirus in this group of patients."

New York Gov. Cuomo deploys National Guard to New Rochelle, establishes containment center to stem coronavirus
Published Tue, Mar 10 202012:36 PM EDTUpdated Moments Ago

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has deployed the state National Guard to New Rochelle, a coronavirus hot spot just north of New York City, he said Tuesday.

“This is unique in the United States of America, we haven’t seen this anywhere else. Think about it, New Rochelle has double the cases of New York City, it’s true, it’s a phenomenon,” he told reporters at a press conference. Westchester County, where New Rochelle is located, currently has 108 COVID-19 cases out of the 173 confirmed infections across the state, according to state health department data.

Cuomo compared the number of cases in New York to Washington state where an outbreak there has spread to at least 162 people, killing 22 mostly elderly residents, according to the Washington state health department. Across the U.S., at least 25 people have died, but none in New York so far. A man in his 60s has died from COVID-19 in Bergen County, N.J., state officials confirmed Monday.

There are 14 New Yorkers currently hospitalized with COVID-19, Cuomo said, adding “most of the 14 are members of that vulnerable community.”

New York National Guard troops have already been dispatched to a health department command post in New Rochelle “to assist with the outbreak,” according to a slide he presented at the news briefing.

“We have moved from a containment strategy to more of a mitigation strategy,” NY state Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker said.

Cuomo stressed that the state isn’t restricting people from leaving the area. “You’re not containing people, it’s facilities. Somebody who lives in that containment area could be in this room today. There’s nothing you can do about that,” he said.

Cuomo said schools in New Rochelle will be closed for two weeks beginning Thursday and they are adding a satellite testing facility within the containment area to test residents for the virus. Northwell Health received the approval from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last night to run automated testing, Cuomo said.

“This will be a period of disruption for the local community. I understand that,” he added.

Correction: This article was updated to reflect that Cuomo deployed the New York National Guard, not U.S. troops, to New Rochelle.

In fairness, National Hunt racing is not the funny-money sport that flat racing is. It is more a sport of the common man. I don't know whether it ought to have been cancelled, but for many of these racegoers it is their annual holiday, they might go nowhere else the rest of the year.

It has been reported that those here in Ireland dying of corona will be denied a funeral service. This is completely over the top. A corpse is far less likely to spread a respiratory pathogen than a living person. But, think about it. People are going to endure the trauma of losing a loved one, which is bad enough, but to be prevented from having a funeral service? Our caretaker government is out of control.
