So because I don't subscribe to your Sentimental Theology this means I lack mercy and compassion for my neighbors? I'd love for you to talk to my neighbors and see if they agree with you.

No my Sentimental Theology has nothing to do with the real danger you pose your neighbours if you are driving around in a vehicle which is not safe on the public highway. And I am certain you will find somewhere in the Churches teachings, we do have a responsibility in the sight of God to not risk harming our neighbours who also include strangers who may also be driving on the highway should your steering fail.

LOL Julia, my steering wheel is in excellent condition. You mistook my (obviously poor) parable to mean that I literally have a wonky steering wheel.

Whew! That gave me a chuckle, indeed.

Probably the kiss of death for you now, Julia, coming from 'toxic' David but your post here and your understanding of Sparrow's situation will be appreciated and understood by many who will view these posts without contributing or registering on the forum.

  5. Julia's 'theology' is no theology at all. How about you start over Julia and apologize for saying such a stupid thing to Sparrow like, "Hey, why don't you go get sterilized and get some nooky..."
Set the pride aside and put your big girl panties on and just say it was a stupid thing to say. Lets get on with it and lets quit beating a dead horse. I cannot imagine you are that dense that you would actually tell someone to do that. I can imagine it being said in jest, like Charlie said.
Say it isn't so and we will be done with this. You wouldn't be the first on this forum to put your foot, hand and elbow in your mouth. I do it all the time...

We are about forgiveness and LEARNING the Faith on this forum. You have been chastised by the best here trying to get it through your head that what you have said is WRONG in ten different ways. Your impression of Sparrow was that she was a meek little soul. I beg to differ. She got on a public CATHOLIC forum and dumped her personal life for the world to see. Waited for those who know the faith to correct her and then cried that we weren't being fair and were being judgmental to her. I know BS when I see it. I'm calling it BS.

INQUISITION is a Julia choice word when something appears to be attracting over reaction.

The Church's teaching can be stated charitably in one or two sentences. Or as an earlier poster kindly posted a link with an article about the topic in discussion relating to 'sterilisation.' The link was informative, courteous and defended our Faith perfectly for those who may not already know. It seemed a perfect response, ruffled no feathers and got the Truth out there.

A couple of posts exchanged in a kindly way but some made me thing INQUISITION mentality. That is all.

Don't forget to get the steering fixed. Peace. :)

Yes, davidtlig. I have known so many women over the years who lived in constant agony. With demanding partners and guilt for not being able to live in their Faith the way they felt they should. These are the people I am most concerned about.

And the hell of it. It is partners who abstain before marriage only find out what demands will be made after the contract is signed and the marriage consummated. Who are we to judge people in difficult situations.

I think I will go and post a marital joke and cheer myself up.

I have to be frank with you here David, effectively you have become a Protestant. You left the Church; the Church did not leave you. Now you can go ahead and form your own little, 'Compassionete', sect with its own man made rules and notions, the same as heretic Luther and co did.

The sin of pride and disobedience, the same sin as Satan, ironically all done in the false name of , 'Compassion'.

    Compassion my posterior

If you think Charlie supports you and other members here in their stance regarding Sparrows then think again. He thought your post, because of its blatant heretical content to be an act of sarcasm my dear.

At the risk of being judged by fellow forum members I would like to say something on behalf of Julia and also Sparrows.

My husband Michael and I have been married for 35 years.

We have been blessed with nine children and practiced NFP.

Our forth daughter Erin was taken to heaven on Christmas day 1987 she was aged 1 month, 1 week and 1 day . She died of SIDs. I have written about this before on the forum. I wrote a book about her life and death. Which I am thinking of asking permission of Padraig to print out on a thread if anyone is interested its only 58 pages (maybe that is a tad too much).

When I was pregnant with my seventh child it was discovered that I had an advanced level 3 stage dysplasia of my cervix. This dysplasia had rapidly grown from a level 1 to a level 3 within a few months, while I was pregnant, the next level 4 stage would be metaplasia otherwise known as cancer.

So after Daniels birth in 1992 I had to undergo a cervical diathermy to rid my cervix of these life threatening cells. I ended up with internal stitches as the growth was so large and I was now required to have 3 monthly PAP smears for the rest of my life.

In 1993 I was expecting our eight child but at mass on Monday 1st of November 1993, I miscarried our baby who died in my womb on the feast of all saints at Mass. At the hospital after the ultrasound, I baptised Him while still in my womb just before the major loss of blood began, which happened as I was being wheeled up to the medical ward to see the doctors.

The next year I was expecting our ninth child and praise God all went well our little daughter Brodie Catherine was born on the 27th November, however around 5 hours after the birth I had a sudden and severe loss of blood and then became unconscious which required medical intervention.

When my cycle returned it was abnormal. This had been happening between pregnancies also. I was only 37 years old at the time.

So I saw the only local OBGYN about what could be done, I was offered a uterine oblation which would fix the problem but this meant that for anywhere up to 2 years after, the lining of my uterus would not support a baby’s life because the baby would have nowhere to implant. So this was out of the question.

As we live in a remote area and about 600 miles from Sydney (which is our States Capital city) I decided there must be Catholic OBGYNs that could offer an acceptable alternative. I don’t know how I did this but I found 3 Catholic OBGYNs in Sydney and I rang these professionals and they all took my calls!

They all stated they never offer, nor perform uterine oblations for the same reason I had refused to entertain the thought. But the only alternative was to have a hysterectomy, that’s why I spoke to three OBGYNs, as I balked at the thought of a hysterectomy as this would render me sterile.

I spoke to my parish priest and he said..... ‘you’ve spoken to 3 Catholic OBGYNs and they have all given you the same medical advice? Well if the doctors believe this is your only option, have the hysterectomy and don’t be thinking it’s a sin of sterilization, because the doctors are looking after your welfare and the welfare of your family!’

Michael and I wanted more children and I called the doctors and spoke to Father numerous times and I know this annoyed them all because they couldn’t understand my hesitation. I did undergo the hysterectomy due to my medical problems but only because my conscience was eventually at peace with the decision, as I had done all in my power to find an alternative and I was assured I was not sinning.

On a different note and in relation to Sparrows our forum sister, my parish priest (who was a living saint), and I used to have many discussions.

I remember one conversation I had with Father regarding how I was to speak with those that were not living in truth.......... was I to rebuke their sin or rebuke them or just forget about it.

Father said something like this...... 'Often times if we admonish people even lovingly, there is a danger of doing more harm than good and we can even push people away from God and risk spoiling Gods work!'

'Pray and trust that God will enlighten them; After all He is master of their journey and loves them more than you do, so leave it to Him, because they will remember the love you show them and that’s probably the part God wants you to play!!'

Personally I don't think about much it at all.when I look at the history, the persecution, and subjugation of my country over this past 800 years by the english then all talk of a storm etc only really matters on the local and immediate situation one is faced with. We live in an age when the mayhem of the world is available on devices we put in our pockets. If such were available in the 1600s in Ireland then talk of a future storm wouldnt matter a damn

Is anyone aware of what we were all taught at school. That the devil and his bad spirits stand before God accusing the brethren day and night. The satan reminds God of all their/our faults and failings.

And if we spend our time searching for reasons to judge and accuse one another we are simply doing the devils job for him now, while we are on earth.

We need to get ready for the Illumination or Warning. I will hold my conscience on the matter in judgement at present, as I have a free will gifted to me by God. He is my judge, not every Tom, Dick and Harry on the internet.

And lets face it Charity covers a multitude of sins. Oh sorry, Charity, Mercy, Compassion is sentimental. Keep firing. And I will keep digging my heels in.

I wonder why Jesus said Tax collectors and Prostitutes would be getting into Heaven before many of the so called chosen ones.

This is not scriptural advice. Neither is it prudent or wise.

    Teresa of Avila (1515–1582)

    Christ Has No Body

Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
    Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,

Well Malachi, I am born and bred and educated in Ireland. live in the UK for many years now. But you mentioning how the Irish were subjugated for so many years. I read on this site that Irish people were sold as slaves in the past by the English. I had always wondered how Irish names got to so many far away places. I thought it can't be the missionaries.

Anyway, I wonder if you remember over 5 years ago here in UK, there was a phase of 'Oh we have to apologise to the black people for the slave trade.' Well now how does one nation the Irish need to apologise to another nation who were in the same boat. Funny old world we live in.

Padraig, there is a scriptural quote I will find when I can and share; why we should not be so harsh. I believe it may be where Holy Father Francis is coming from. For the times we are living.

I have so many people to bring to the Doors of Mercy this year. Nearly 20 pilgrimages so far.
I may write Sparrow on my list. Because all that matters is we help Jesus save souls. He has eternity to correct all the mistakes and failures. And purify His precious treasures -all our souls. Just trust Jesus to show Mercy if the Warning comes, for as many souls as we can bring to Holy Doors. I feel Jesus will save souls from hell if we honour Him in this Year of Mercy.

If it is any consolation to you, I will pray about my digging my heels in against the tide here on the sore topic. And will let you know how the Lord deals with me. I never held the view as right in the first place, but the sanctimonious attack brought out the fight in me.

There is not enough time to convert the vast numbers of souls in peril now if things are going to happen within a couple of years. I feel the only way is Mercy, Compassion, Understanding; while sharing the Faith. Like Holy Father is saying. I feel in my heart with a passion Jesus wants us to beg Him to save souls any way we can. He can do the rest; but we can't be judgemental. Or Jesus will not believe us when we ask for Divine Mercy for souls.

Each time I make the Pilgrimage I get the most unusual joy. I doubted that it was right to make pilgrimages for others. But the Mass readings were like a confirmation to my amazement. Then the joy after each pilgrimage is almost out of this world. I have only felt this in the past when God is very pleased to grant a grace.

Our Lady at Fatima said many souls are lost because there is no one to pray for them. We can't scare poor souls away from our Saviour, He died for them. And we might only have Months to reach as many as possible. From what some are saying.

Padraig I work in a hospital like you do and I am sourounded by co workers that are non practising christians and Catholics although a few do attend some services, I also know that some of them hold very wrong beliefs. So many are worldly and are living lives in mortal sin, like living together without marriage and having children, many blaspheme, gossip, are bad tempered, lazy, many tell distasteful jokes and the list goes on.
Do you admonish your co workers?
Because all I do is pray for them unless someone specifically asks for advice.

I know that most of them know that I have different standards to them but very rarely do I ever admonish them. Because if I was to do that without prudence, I would be firstly talking my head off non stop as the sins are numerous but also I believe it would do no good, it may even cause them to sin more.
So I Pray and trust that God will enlighten them; and I do believe He is master of their journey and loves them more than I do.

So I leave it to Him and try to lead by example most of the time unless someone asks me specifically for advice.

I would love to know how you handle your working life?

And I love St Teresa of Avila.
And working as a nurse the following is what I try to do each day.

Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
    Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
    compassion on this world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.

    Beautiful
