This came out in the news a few days ago: Cardinal Müller: Francis Is "No Heretic" - He Is "Orthodox” Feb 16 https://gloria.tv/article/Qk4hkYs3U9Wc4ueDqRsaLfaYW Cardinal Gerhard Müller has repeated his implausible theory according to which Pope Francis is a victim of those he keeps surrounding himself with. Müller told the anti-Catholic fake-news magazine Spiegel (February 15) that Pope Francis allows himself to be “dependent” upon his counselors who have “base motives”. Müller did not say which counselors he means. According to Müller, Francis “is surrounded” by people who “have little understanding of theology”. The cardinal calls them “courtiers”. Francis' closest collaborator is Cardinal Parolin. Asked whether Francis is a heretic, Müller replied, “No. This Pope is orthodox.” ++++++++++++++++ And this is what Christopher Ferrara had to say about Cardinal Muller's words in an addendum he made to his original piece about Cardinal Muller's manifesto of faith: "NEVER MIND: As reported by Gloria TV, in an interview with Der Spiegel, Cardinal Gerhard Müller has just blamed Bergoglio’s advisers, who have “base motives,” for the torrent of heterodoxy in Bergoglio’s words and deeds. As to Francis, he declared: “This Pope is orthodox.” So, according to Müller, every heterodox thing Francis has said and done over nearly six years of bizarre pronouncements and disastrous decisions is the fault of his bad advisers. Good grief. It is time to give up on Cardinal Müller." https://remnantnewspaper.com/web/index.php/test-article
Strictly speaking, Cardinal Muller is right. Pope Francis makes the balls for others to fire but he is always careful to say something orthodox either before or after he says or writes something which is open to interpretation. He always gives himself plausible deniability. For a Cardinal to accuse a Pope of heresy, he would have to be absolutely certain that the Pope is a material heretic and be able to prove it. Pope Francis has been careful to not leave himself open to that charge. The papacy itself is at stake, and it could well be that Pope Francis and his entourage would be very if he were the last pope with any authority, rendering future Popes powerless to prevent autonomous Bishops spreading heresy. The St. Gallen group spent many years devising a strategy. They would have made sure to work out how their chosen Pope would be able to implement the agenda without risking his removal.
It's one thing for Cardinal Muller to refrain from calling PF a heretic, but to say that he is orthodox??! Sigh.
