Bitterness

  1. I found this lovely prayer in the Curate's Diary

My bitter hour is not complete
    'Till willingly I come
And lay my sorrow at his feet
And say, 'thy will be done
Lord take this bitter heart away,
    Lord bring again the sun,
Lord give me courage yet to pray
    Thy will be done

You should listen to this guy on Desert Island Discs, Jayne.

His name is TIdje Tham and he originally came from the Ivory Coast. He talks a little about his life, especially about his father. His father was imprisoned in an illegal coup out there and he seems to have been a very saintly man. Far from feeling bitter he notes that prison made him a much better person. He told his children that suffering makes us greater. The very opposite of bitterenss.:)
