I was up at Eddie Stones on Saturday and he said that the Emanuel house of Providence, Clonfert and another place in his diocese have been selected by his Bishop as Doors of Mercy for the upcoming Year of Mercy. It commences on 8th December, that's next Tuesday. Most other places commence on 13th Dec. Being in a state of grace (attending confession, receiving Holy Communio, attending Holy Mass, helping the poor) on the day will gain one a plenary indulgence for a soul in purgatory or for themselves. Eddie said we have a chance to release a soul from purgatory every day this year (obviously we won't all be able to go through a 'door of mercy' everyday but it's a great opportunity). Anyway, does anybody know of any 'doors of mercy' in the Limerick area? I believe it's up to local bishops to designate them but i haven't come across anything through Google searches as of yet.
