Sharing some hopeful words my 94 year old friend shared with us in our Legion of Mary meeting last week. He frequently prays before the Blessed Sacrament and told us that in one of his visits, some past sins were surfacing and disturbing him. He said he heard Jesus say to him loud and clear, "don't worry about your sins, my mercy is greater than your sins". It made me feel so hopeful to hear Jesus' words and I thought I would share it with you all.
Thank you so much Shae. I'm sure many of us are afflicted this way from time to time. Many years ago when I first came home to the Church my conscience was ruthless. I would worry about the grave things I had done in pre-converted life. I began to pray " Sacred Heart of Jesus I believe in Your Love for me and in Your mercy which is greater than all the sins I have committed." It helps a lot to pray this at such moments.
I know what you mean AED. I talked to a Priest in Confession about past sins from many years ago that were suddening popping up in my mind and bothering me and he said that was the devil doing that. Now I don't let them trouble me anymore.
