I am reading the diary of St Faustina (Divine Mercy in My Soul). I think she experienced the warning or illumination of conscience. Once she was summoned before the judgement seat of God. 'Suddenly I saw the complete condition of my soul as as God sees it. I could clearly see all that is displeasing to God. I did not know that even the smallest transgressions will have to be accounted for. What a moment! Who can describe it? To stand before the Thrice-Holy God! Jesus asked me, Who are you? I answered, "I am your servant Lord" You are guilty of one day in the fire of purgatory. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think this is a wonderful insight into the coming illumination of conscience. But it may also be an insight into our own personal judgement when we meet Christ upon our death - He will first ask of us 'Who are you'? I am Bobby a sinner and I plead your mercy, I trust your mercy, I rely on your mercy!
Something I pray for often is that I grow each day in my knowledge of, trust in, faith in hope in and love for our lord Jesus Christ. I beg him to never hear those dreaded words, "depart from me for I do not know you!"
