Went to morning Mass today in Glenravel. No mass on Saturday morning and so simply did my devotions.

I felt carried away on waves of peace and joy. Jesus never leaves us short if we but make the effort.

Of course this should not be confused with this today because this was prophesied as a sign.
That it was not an ordinary natural phenomenon and that the scene was spectacular shows that people called the fire department in large numbers. Here are newspaper articles from January 1938 showing that such a phenomenon had never been seen before. You can enlarge the images.

Second part of the Secret of Fatima:

“If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace. The war is going to end; but if people do not cease offending God, a worse one will break out during the reign of Pius XI. When you see a night illumined by an unknown light, know that this is the great sign given you by God that He is about to punish the world for its sins, by means of war, famine, and persecutions against the Church and of the Holy Father.

On the night of January 25-26, 1938 – during the reign of Pope Pius XI (1922-1939) – the sky became a brilliant blood-red. Likened to the blaze of a gigantic fire and filling the evening sky, it was seen across Europe and even in parts of North America and North Africa.

Though it was determined by many to be a most extraordinary aurora borealis, this phenomenon exhibited many characteristics not associated with an aurora borealis. It would appear that many simply assigned it that designation because they had no more appropriate term or explanation.[2] And Sister Lucia expressed reservations about it being referred to as an aurora borealis. She wrote in her third memoir on August 31, 1941 that no matter what cause the light could be attributed to, “God made use of this to make me understand that His justice was about to strike the guilty nations…” This was the sign of the beginning of World War II and the other dire events predicted in the Second Secret.

As Fatima author Mark Fellows writes:

“The blood-red sky lasted for many hours, and was seen around half of the world at the same vivid intensity. Lucy and the Sisters watched the pulsating, violently hued inferno from Tuy. Of all the descriptions of that night, the most precise one had been prophesied over 20 years ago by the beautiful Lady at Cova da Iria. A ‘night illumined by an unknown light’, the Virgin told Lucy, would be ‘the great sign given by God that He is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famine, and persecutions of the Church and the Holy Father…’ … Within two months of the great sign, Hitler’s armies invaded Austria. As the Blessed Virgin had prophesied, the Second World War began ‘in the reign of Pius XI’

The people who saw the Sign in 1938 all knew it was something spectacularly big. Something quite apart from anything else .

    Something totally jawdropping

You can tell this from the contemporary accounts

Below is an eyewitness of a child who also saw that Strange and Unknown Light on Jan. 25, 1938:

"Far away as far as my eyes could see, I saw something coming up from the ground. It went up to the sky and was going up...
Looking out over the surrounding olive trees to the other end of the landscape, they saw the sky burn a vibrant red. "It was as red as red can be ... like in flames," he said. The rest of the sky was completely dark.

"I remember my father saying, 'If this falls on top of us, we all die,'" he said. "It was scary, and I never saw that again in my life." As little Herman shook from fright, his mother took him to her bedroom to calm him down. She told him to look at a picture of Our Lady of Fatima that she had hanging in her room. She told him to pray".

Our Lady of Fatima had told the three shepherd children on July 13, 1917. She said, "When you see a night illuminated by an unknown light, know that it is the great sign that God gives you that He is going to punish the world for its crimes by means of war, famine and persecution of the Church and the Holy Father." Less than a month later, Hitler marched his army into Austria, and in September, he invaded Poland.

It's unclear whether or not St. Faustina saw this light, but in a Diary entry dated Jan. 25, 1938, she wrote, "I saw the anger of God hanging heavy over Poland. And now I see that if God were to visit our country with the greatest chastisements, that would still be great mercy because, for such grave transgressions, He could punish us with eternal annihilation" (1533).

Herman Carvalho of Clinton Corners, New York, didn't know much about Our Lady of Fatima or the mercy of God when he was just 7 years old. But living in a remote village in Portugal, he indeed witnessed this astonishing sight.

At dusk, he was outside playing near his mother who was doing chores. He wandered toward an iron gate leading to the road when he noticed something in the northern part of the sky. "What I saw I can never forget because it was so real," he said. "Far away as far as my eyes could see, I saw something coming up from the ground. It went up to the sky and was going up. But then I didn't look anymore and I started to play." Herman didn't think to tell anyone what he had seen.

About a half an hour later, while the Carvalhos ate dinner together, they heard people outside crying. "We went to the terrace, and we were going to ask the people why they were crying," he said.

She told him to pray.

"I believe it very much because I never forgot. I've told numerous people what happened that it's true," he said. "It was unbelievable."

Now we know Auroras were spotted in Mexico and even Puerto Rico.

“It should take an X20 or more [solar flare] to see an aurora borealis in the Caribbean.”

Everyone today saying, “Move along, nothing to see here. Ho him, big deal, I slept through it,” frankly doesn’t have a clue as to the true nature and actual magnitude of last night’s global solar storm.

We had a totally clear night on Friday here in Minnesota, and I live way out in the country, but I could not see it. People from surrounding towns could, but not here. I too a photo with my phone, and I could faintly see green and purple, but not without my phone.

Some scientists believe in an electromagnetic universe. That the stars are nodes along a path of current through the universe. When this current changes so does the behavior of stars such as our sun. Supposedly the stars and planets around us are getting brighter, along with our sun becoming more active. I have heard that before the three days of darkness there will be large amounts of lightning, which could be a part of this phenomena, IDK. Also if the current were to stop, the light from the sun would stop.

I am not saying I believe in this model, or trying to explain away the prophecies regarding the three days of darkness with this model. I just find it intriguing how such things could happen according to this model.
