At the moment I'm rereading this wonderful book by the Priest-Sculptor who created the statue of Our Lady of Fatima which is in the niche above the entrance to the Basilica there. Originally written in 1947 and published again in 2017, Fr. McGlynn recounts his journey to Portugal and the time he spent there creating the statue under the critical supervision and guidance of Sister Lucia, who was 40 years old at that time. The book contains much about the apparitions too, conversations with people who had been present then and also gives a more 'personal' picture of Sister Lucia or Irma Dores, as she was known in the convent. Well worth reading if you haven't seen it already.
