What a mighty prayer of praise the Gloria of Mass is. It sings the praises of God. Here I reproduce it without the petitions - yesterday at Mass I was filled with such holy zeal & love of God that from within came a holy desire for persecution & martyrdom in His name not in my will but in His holy, divine will. Glory to God in the highest, We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you. We give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, For you alone are the Holy One, You alone are the Lord, You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, With the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.
It is a wonderful prayer of praise--it should be always in the forefront of any prayer time I think. Its very ancient. I used to thrill as a child to hear the opening strains" Gloria in Excelsis Deo..."
I remember that while my two sons received part of their formation as priests while still in Connecticut, I would visit and participate in the Sacred Liturgy. I too loved to join in singing the Gloria in Latin! https://www.google.com/search?clien...ate=ive&vld=cid:bcb19381,vid:2D0ncpEMcGM,st:0
