There are very many great saints from Italy, many holy people. In a movie about the life of St. John Paul II, the saint made a comment to one of his friends during the time of the Nazis (or maybe the communists, my memory may be off) having over run Poland. He said something to the effect that we need not worry ~ as long as one Pole survives, Poland will live on. He was speaking, imho, not just of Poland, but the Catholic faith of Poland as a nation.......of the Polish people and their faith, wherever those people may be. Imho, it's looking beyond what we normally think of in terms of borders and countries........Italian immigrants to America brought great faith with them, for example....
Interesting. I wonder why no mention of Africa? It is there where the Church is growing the most and they hold to orthodoxy
One area that African priests need prayer is in regard to sexual ethics! We rejoice on their Bishops' united stand against homosexual behavior. However, one area of weakness and capitulation is in regard to overlooking sex before marriage and polygamy. A number of African priests have ignored their bishops in this regard and allow scandal.
