With the current Papal visit to Mongolia, a short feature on the history of the Church there.
An article on how a statue of Our Lady with the title Heavenly Mother, which was found in a landfill some years ago, will be blessed by the Pope during the visit to Mongolia.
The statue of Our Lady, Heavenly Mother, now in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Blessed Mother, pray for us.
In the video attached to this article, the Salesian missionary Priest is speaking Chinese but if you watch on YouTube you can switch on transcript and follow text in English.
Praying for the Church in Mongolia. It must nit be easy for them.
Mongolian may seem like a brutal country for some, but under genkis khan\descendants rule they had an ample religious freedom (islam, christian and tengrism all were allowed to preach, have temples etc). However under communist control there happened what we all know. so, it's interesting that the christian roots there are ancient, and christianity was not persecuted such as in japan for example. I think there was a muslim warlord fighting Mao even, or something like that
