A Thousand Likes! And to answer Garabandals original question.....What is the best Ave Maria ever sung? I believe we have a winner!
I never knew Our Holy Father Pope Saint John Paul II had such a beautiful singing voice! I love Him and I miss him. Dear St John Paul pray for us.
My favorite Ave Maria is an instrumental version by YO YO MA. I am not computer savvy enough to post it here but it is on YouTube. It is wonderful to listen to in meditation.
While this video and Ave Maria is absolutely awesome. It was already make public that it is not Pope John Paul singing. Sorry, I can't remember the name of the singer; it did come up on the Forum quite some time ago, and the real singer was identified at the time. My favourite from the versions posted however is Bocelli singing the Ave Maria. Bless him.
Wellllll.......... if that is not Our wonderful Saint JPII singing the Ave Maria, then we must defer to the absolute best sung Ave Maria, which I believe is by Mr Perry Como
One of my most favorite hymns ever...straight from heaven itself! With this beauty, who could deny God’s wonderous hand ! I want to hear this played as I’m dying....prelude to heaven....
Maybe it's not the best Ave Maria, or video, but such a beautiful spontaneous moment in the most unexpected location ...Disney World. The expression on the little girl's face is priceless. https://chipandco.com/beautiful-performance-by-a-guest-singing-ave-maria-at-grand-floridian-346801/
Yes, your right. You would never have expected to see this at disney world. He does have a beautiful voice and that little girl was very much enjoying that. A memory never to forget. That was very nice. God bless......
I love this... I was going to post Deanna Durbin's rendition of Ave Maria but I just noticed that Padraig has already posted it here. (Thank you Padraig.) I never knew of Deanna Durbin until a few months ago and she does have a very interesting story imo. She was signed by Universal Studios at the same time that Judy Garland was signed and they were about the same age, only about 6 months apart. Most people are familiar with Judy Garland but I think that many are not familiar with Deanna Durbin because unlike Judy Garland Deanna chose to retire from Hollywood before her 28th birthday. The following is from her wikipedia page: In 1946, Durbin was the second-highest-paid woman in the United States, just behind Bette Davis,[6] and in 1947, she was the top-salaried woman in the United States. Her fan club ranked as the world's largest during her active years.[12] and Durbin retired from acting and singing in 1949, and withdrew from public life, granting no interviews for the remainder of her life, except for one in 1983. She married film producer-director Charles Henri David in 1950, and the couple moved to a farmhouse near Paris. [She married David after 2 failed marriages but stayed married to him until his death in 1999 and Deanna, herself, died at the age of 91 in 2013]. There is a lot more to her story and if you are interested you can read about her here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deanna_Durbin .
I got lost in the forest in the dark there for a few hours so it was funny and touching watching this. Thank you.
