    • Let others tell of storms and showers, I tell of sunny morning hours.
    • The kiss of the Sun for pardon, the song of the birds for mirth; one is nearer God’s heart in a garden than anywhere else on earth.
    • I am silent without the Sun.

Adjacent to the Wojtyla apartment in Wadowice is the town church, and on its side, which you can almost touch if you hang out of the apartment window, is a sundial. The young Karol must have seen it every day of his life until he moved to Krakow as a young student. It reads, Tempus fugit, aeternitas manet. Time flies, eternity remains. I can't help but wonder if this was part of the reason he filled every day so carefully. Never a person to waste time.
