Dear forum members, I cannot free myself from an impure addiction, and from other addictions such as gluttony and surfing the web. I humbly ask for your prayers to be set free. May God bless you all!
Hi Michael Pio. I suffer from Impure thoughts. Sometimes very distressing, and hard to deflect. Frequent confession is a great help. You get supernatural graces and help from confession. One Priest told me lately that it is temptation more than sin and comes from the fellow down below. Spiritual attack in other words. A week later I was in the confessional again with a different Priest and the same stuff to confess. I find that if I don't get confession for a prolonged period my anxiety levels rise and temptations attack me worse.
Hi Michael. Here is something that my be helpful; Matt Frad has instigated a session/group for men suffering with SA (I think that means sexual addiction) It apparently affects many people today. Below is a long interview with a women who suffers from the same addition as well as many others. It is an interesting interview. Go to the 2 hour 12 minute mark for one of Matt's talk on his therapy for men with SA; My prayers are with you. Jesus says.....Be not afraid for I have conquered the world!
https://www.catholicexorcism.org/about every month Msgr Rossetti does an online prayer deliverance session. It begins with the rosary and then Msgr prays deliverance prayers for all spiritual maladies and generational healing. You can go to the website and sign up. Since you are in another time zone, you do not have to participate at the time. You can access the prayer session any time as long as you are registered. It’s extremely beneficial and it gives great peace of soul. I highly recommend it. I think the next session is this Monday, June 17. I’m registered and they will send me a reminder email.
Prayers to Our Blessed Mother. I think some struggles take a lifetime. I like to believe God makes allowances. There was a cowboy one time called John Green Harding who entered Gethsemane Abbey in Kentucky as a lay brother who had the most shocking bad temper. He struggled for years and years to overcome it. The Abbot one time tested John while he was shaving him with a cut throat razor. Poor John came within inches of cutting the Abbot's throat. The Abbot did not test John by ever insulting him again. John wound up a saint. My Spiritual Director used to tell me life is a marathon , not a sprint. Sometimes we need to be a little patient with ourselves. It can be some sins are very, very deep rooted indeed. Some are even past on from generation to generation. My six brothers and myself had bad tempers. My father had a very bad temper and both my grandfathers had the most horrendous tempers. It is said Irish people generally can have foul tempers when started. Many, many of the monks at Gethsemani had Irish backgrounds, which tended to make them good soldiers or policemen. https://vocationblog.com/2015/10/from-cowboy-to-contemplative/
Thank you so much for all your responses. I will carefully listen to the videos posted here. Also, I will join the online deliverance group. My hope is great, because I was freed by a deliverance prayer at Hearts Aflame in 2013, being able to finally get over a relationship that had ended in the 1990ies. After I was freed by a deliverance prayer, I was able to move on, and I got married in 2015. I have read your responses thoroughly. It gives me great encouragement that we are all brothers and sisters in this forum, carrying one another. Most of all, I am grateful for your prayers. Maybe our Good Lord and His Blessed Mother will hear you guys when you pray, because I am sure you are close to their hearts. As for me, I went to confession (again) today. I will keep all forum members and all your families in our family Rosaries.
Keep up the good fight, never give up, always rise when you fall, go to confession as you have been doing, beg God for the grace to be victorious and have a special devotion to our Lady, the Virgin most pure - eventually you will get there.
Thank you so very very much. Thank you, all of you here! Matt's therapy program Strive 21 is mentioned during the video, at 1h 29 min. I have signed up for the program now.
Apparently, it’s pretty successful. I will be praying for you. You definitely need the support in this fight. God bless you
Prayers from here as well. When I am troubled by thoughts, I plead the Precious Blood of Jesus on all the thoughts in my mind, entering my mind and on every fibre of my being, body, mind and soul. Maybe something to try, especially as we're coming into July, the month of the Precious Blood.
Michael, you are very courageous to admit your weakness and your failings. This is a very good sign that you are close to the Lord and he loves you very much. He will help you. Peace. 18:9 He spoke the following parable to some people who prided themselves on being upright and despised everyone else, 18:10 'Two men went up to the Temple to pray, one a Pharisee, the other a tax collector. 18:11 The Pharisee stood there and said this prayer to himself, "I thank you, God, that I am not grasping, unjust, adulterous like everyone else, and particularly that I am not like this tax collector here. 18:12 I fast twice a week; I pay tithes on all I get." 18:13 The tax collector stood some distance away, not daring even to raise his eyes to heaven; but he beat his breast and said, "God, be merciful to me, a sinner." 18:14 This man, I tell you, went home again justified; the other did not. For everyone who raises himself up will be humbled, but anyone who humbles himself will be raised up.'
Confession is such a gift Today I by accident went to a very holy old Priest . I was walking along the river there now saying the rosary when I thought of all the Confessions in my life All the falls, all the picking myself up and starting again. But really what else can we do ? It. is a very humbling experience, but that is no bad thing really. Offered up my rosary for you.
I am on day 2 of the program. Thank you so very much for your prayers. Yes, I need support, so am grateful for your prayers. I am leaning on Our Lord and His Most Blessed Mother, and so the prayers of you are very helpful. I am now going to sign up to the online deliverance prayer group mentioned by HeavenlyHost. Based on an idea by Padraig et al, unrelated to this thread, our family has started a nine-day traditional Catholic novena to our Lady, Queen of Peace - to pray for peace in the world. We also keep this forum, all members, and all your loved ones in our family prayer. God bless!
