Our Blessed Mother never wastes a word. I was struck reading the message from Jan 1997 of the prophetic quality of our Lady's words - that man is building an athiestic civilization and she outlined that this would lead to despair, hopelessness and
dissatisfaction. How true as we now live in a culture of death and despair. But our Lady has come to give us hope <imagine the world without Medjugorje  > and she declares 'this time is my time' - wonderful - we live in a blessed time too because God has sent his mother to heal this sick generation. In other times God has sent his prophets, Abraham, Moses, Isaiah, and then his dearest Son. But man has forgotten the Son of God so the Father has allowed Mary, the New Eve to come to us with great graces to help us get out of the mire of sin and turn back to God. There is a lovely motherly phrase at the end 'I repeat to yoou that I am with you' - beautiful!

    January 25, 1997
"Dear children! I invite you to reflect about your future. You are creating a new world without God, only with your own strength and that is why you are unsatisfied and without joy in the heart. This time is my time and that is why, little children, I invite you again to pray. When you find unity with God, you will feel hunger for the Word of God and your heart, little children, will overflow with joy. You will witness God’s love wherever you are. I bless you and I repeat to you that I am with you to help you. Thank you for having responded to my call."

There is a lady at work whom I am fond of and I pray for who reminds me of this. There is a huge quality of restlessness about her as though she has no inner reserves at all. Everything that happens frightens her and she is constantly worried about even the littlest things. She reminds me of a little bird that flys from tree to tree trying to find a place to settle down but can never do so.

I think those who pray are like the tree that is planted by the waterside, as the psalm and the hymn say. Or again as the story Jesus told of the house that was built on good foundations that survived the storm. We are facing the greatest stroms in human history, so our foundations must be very deep indeed.

I think in order to accept prophecy we must be little prophets ourselves and do as Mary said and read the Signs of the TImes.

We hear rumours at work that we might be placed on a four day week and there will be strikes and redundancies. There is great unease and worry especially for the little bird I told you about....

I suppose as Jesus said we must not worry about tomorrow, that if Jesus can take care of the flowers and deck them out like little Princesses He can well take care of us. But we must do as Mary says and pray, pray, pray...

I see this morning that Ireland's FInance Minister has said in an interview that Ireland might be facing the, '..financial end of the World'. Cheerful stuff.

I admit sometimes I feel more than a little unnerved myself and have to relearn the lesson taught by Padre Pio; that we must, 'Pray and trust'....

The word I got Padraig upon reading your post - that what is coming is 'a perfect storm' - a rare combination of unique events:

My interpretation would be that the whole system of western democracy/capitalism is on the precipice of a huge economic collapse which will have enormous political, social and religious consequences and subsequent chaos. This is the calm before the storm. The economic chastisement has begun although in it's early stages - the idols of materialism and consumerism will come tumbling down as a result.

But we put our faith in the living God who is to be praised and worshipped in spirit and truth - faith and grace are the 'pearls of great price' bought with the precious blood of the Lamb, the eternal Word, Jesus Christ.

I read this after posting above - Ireland is on the brink of economic ruin.

What is interesting is that right now, the economic atmosphere here in the US feels a little better...people are spending, jobs are being filled - my son in fact just got a new job, and so did my brother, and my sister-in-law (both have been out of work all summer), and my sales are up with my lights. The calm before the storm, perhaps?

I think this relates to what Our Lady asks, MC; that we should, 'Read the Signs of the Times'. I don't think this relates in a particular way to foretelling what the future means (though it may touch on this) but to prophecy in a Sciptural sense in that we should attempt to be open to the way the Holy Spirit is working in the world. Notably the great Apoclptic battle between good and evil. Otherwise everything would become just a mad chaos of unrelated to anything and terrifying. I think it s a biot like having a TV set and no ariel, the picture we would get would just be a fuzz, but if we tune into the SIgns of the TImes we get a clear picture of what is going on. Part of this for instance being who and what to trust and who and what not to trust.

I noticed lately a survey showing a high percentage, a very high percentage of Catholics support homosexual , 'Marriage' ....well this is a straw blowing in the wind a Sign of the Times and Mary wants us to take such things away and pray over them, to store them in our hearts...........

I think whaen we read the Signs of the TImes (and open ourselves to the grace of Prohesy and Discernment) we are like Captains of ships at sea in a storm ,we have an inner spiritual compass to guide us home; so many , many of our fellow sister and brother Catholics and Christians have no such compass and are heading for the rocks...

Our Lady reminds me of a great light house at the minute, Queen of Prophets.

You picked a lovely name ,Sacred. I see this section has been posted elsewhere on the internet. I was just curious at the mention of the 'God-man'. I was wondering if this might have been written by Maria Valtorta ('Poem of the God-man' , whose writing had been placed on the (now defunct) index of Forbidden Books and condemned by the (then) Cardinal Ratzinger, our present Holy Father?
