How do we know that this isn't what God wants for the Church? We see things in the short term. God see further than our time frame. Leaving aside the looney brigade that Pope Francis seems to favour, perhaps some lay involvement would be an improvement. It was those octogenarian Cardinals who chose Pope Francis. Why would ensuring their inclusion in the lead up to the next Conclave be something to wish for? They had plenty of experience before the last Conclave, yet look what it produced. I won't be cheering them on if they throw a hissy fit about their own exclusion considering how silent most have been at the treatment meted out to others.

The difficulty with, 'Pope' Frankie is that he has become a little like a dog that bites you. Once bitten twice shy. Frankie has bitten on many occasions and so quite literally people have become distrustful of every his every word and action. If he told me I had won the lottery and had a cheque in his hand I would examine it with a microscope.
It is the same thinking that lies behind the abomination they termed , 'The Synod on Synodalities'. To Democatise the Church , removing the Supernatural Dimension turning the Conclaves, like the Synods, into into some kind of Congress or Parliament. Brian. Thank you. I find this question (of to speak or not to speak) so personal. For all the muster I can gather to myself to proclaim the truth to my family , I remain in peril! Why? Because for the majority of my family (my children included) , believe this invented notion that truth is fluid and that there is no demarcation of truth, as if truth differs from reality; they state that truth differs from individual to individual which boils down to mean that opposing truths are equal!? So now truth is subjective, which means reality is dependent upon the individuals prospective of the stated truth! I understand your point of view, Brian, but it is entirely possible to lead others to Christ and the Catholic Church still, whether this pope is pope or heretic or not. It's actually completely unnecessary for us to know the answer. And the reason we can know that is....God hasn't revealed it to us. My family has experienced more conversions and reversions to the Faith in this past year than in many, many years of perfectly good and holy popes in the past. God's grace is moving in a powerful way, through prayer, hope, and endurance. If we know our Faith, we can still pass it on to those around us, no matter what is going on in the Vatican. And we keep respecting the Chair of St. Peter, because one day a good and holy pope will sit there, and we don't want to be one of the people who seriously undermined his authority by slamming a previous pope every chance we could get.
Years and years ago I met a very holy English priest ,we talked about prayer and got on like a house on fire. But one thing he said to me and kept repeating, that I should buy a Catechism of the Catholic Church and really read it well and use it for prayer. Only now I understand what he meant. We need to know the Teachings of the Church as well as we know ourselves in order to navigate our way through all this. Not one of the modern ones that already have been changed by these wicked people but a good old one. I was praying to Our Lord about the Church and its future the other night and it seemed I was praying to a black hole. But the next day at Mass the Lord said to me clearly and firmly as could be, 'I heard your prayer last night'. Jesus knows what is going on with His Bride , the Church. He might appear to be sleeping, but He is wide awake. Mark 4:38-40 38 Jesus was inside the boat, sleeping with his head on a pillow. The followers went and woke him. They said, “Teacher, don’t you care about us? We are going to drown!” 39 Jesus stood up and gave a command to the wind and the water. He said, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind stopped, and the lake became calm. 40 He said to his followers, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
