As you likely know, today is these great Solemnity of Christ the King, it’s the end of the Church liturgical year…. Advent is upon us. But with all going on in the world, it’s a great time to stop and reflect as the year closes. And to really reflect that Christ is The King. At Mass this morning , our priest gave a very moving homily. And he said to us…. Jesus’ question to Pilate after Pilate asks Jesus , “are you King of the Jews”? Should be a cause of great reflection for us. Jesus responded to Pilates question with his own question… “ do you say this on your own or have others told you about me?” Father said we need to answer this for ourselves. Do we come to Mass, listen to the Bible and kind of yea, yea…Jesus is the King because that’s what I’ve been taught. OR, is Jesus your King because you believe it truly in your own soul? Do we say everyday… Lord, your servant is here, I bow to you today, please my King, how can I serve you today. Do we serve the King of the Universe or the kings in this world? Wow…a great reflection but even if we fall a bit short in the answer, thanks be to God there is time…. In fact the time is now, change… serve the true King. He also added … think about how hard it is to legally become a citizen in most countries. You need to show proof of “worthiness” - you can support yourself, you have no criminal record etc. But think of now claiming your citizenship in God’s kingdom. Your last record of sin and guilt wiped away, there is no price for us, we can’t “earn” by . No, rather, our Admittance to the citizenship of Heaven is a free gift, given to us by our King, who climb the Cross of Calvary. Accept the gift. Bow to our King. Praise be Jesus Christ now and forever!
