What a beautiful collect for the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. I treasure the Collects at Holy Mass for their richness, but this one is a true treasure! The Collect for the Feast of the Sorrows of Mary V. The Lord be with you. R. And with thy spirit. Let us pray. O God, in Whose Passion the sword, according to the prophecy of blessed Simeon, pierced through the soul of Mary, the glorious Virgin and Mother, mercifully grant that we, who reverently commemorate her piercing through and her suffering, may, by the interceding glorious merits of all the saints faithfully standing by the Cross, obtain the abundant fruit of Your passion. Who livest and reignest with God the Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. R. Amen May I also willingly stand by and even embrace the Cross.
This was my favourite. I used to pray the 7 Sorrows Rosary but I stopped some time ago. I used to pray for as long as I could on my knees with my arms outstretched - which wasn't very long. Then after a rest (but still continuing the Rosary) I would start again. Good old-fashioned penance. I hope my love is not growing cold. I also saved these: Wow! If anyone needs this promise I do. I must resume this Rosary of the Seven Sorrows of Our Lady.
I'm saying it everyday now for - I don't know, maybe 12 - even 15 years.. one of the promises of it's daily recitation is that 'you will be taken directly to heaven - at the instant of death you will will see the face of your mother...'. There are other promises associated with its daily recitation too but the above sold it to me. I think its an absolute no-brainer! I am assured of heaven. No purgatory fer me! And remember, there's no purgatory for anyone at the end of the world because purgatory is abolished at that point. The options get even more limited then... I highly recommend this prayer.
