That's my sister's desire. Anthony is 38, with the mind of a 12-year-old and other issues besides. Sister believes Anthony coming here (my repeated offer) isn't advisable; he needs daily supervision. They reside in Iowa. Its former Governor nixed a lot of programs for special needs people. I suggested to sister that Minnesota might be an option. She's only 40 minutes from the State line. I've written a longtime friend who works in a group/care home in Owatonna, Minnesota; do they accept out-of-State persons? Please pray.
It's a facility similar to a nursing home, but in nephew's situation he'll be among fellow disabled people who aren't senior citizens. They are housed in units, sometimes with a roommate or their own room. Common dining area, recreational activities (games, crafts), etc. It's a structured, supervised setting.
A group home is a placement into a group setting of a person with disabilities that will help with daily life skills. Usually people with disabilities that need 24 hour care and/or supervision to live.
Anthony is one whom the Two Hearts love so much. High achievers are always at risk of succumbing to pride and success. Heavenly Father, open the doors for your child, that Anthony will have adequate care. Provide him with faith-filled staff who will minister Your Love to him, yet close enough that family can visit. O Mary conceived without sin, pray for Anthony, who has recourse to thee!
I'm going to ask for the special intercession of St Faustina.....Saint of Mercy....whose feast day is October 5, tomorrow. Please St Faustina, may you intercede before the throne of God on behalf of dear Anthony for answers for his housing arrangements.....a child of God
