Are there any martyrs of the Unification of Italy? I heard someone say that there were, but that they hadn't been canonized, does anyone know who these people were?

Can someone please provide me with pro-Papal States websites and resources?

For some reason, the conquest of the Papal States by Garibaldi's beasts just really angers me.

We can't change the past. Channel your anger into saying a prayer for the repose of Garibaldi's soul. He probably needs it and if he's beyond redemption it will help some other poor soul.

Over 1,000 of the Papal Zouaves were Irish volunteers only the Dutch sent more which I think is cool as Holand is predominantly protestant. There were also vols from US

I read that there was a Belgian Zouave who was executed for refusing to give up his sword; does anyone know the name and account of that man? Was there anything heroic and martyr-like about his actions and death?

Found an article here on the very disturbing account of the razing of Pontelandolfo and Casalduni, very disturbing stuff, but perhaps there are potential candidates for Martyrdom among them?

I've heard of French Canadian, I think brothers who Papal Zouaves, they survived and returned, but perhaps there's more information about them and a possible cause for the canonization, I'll look into it.

The above atrocities are reminiscent of those committed against French Catholics in the Vendee

Here's a Wikipedia article on Hermann Kanzler the General of the Papal Army and the Zouaves, he seems like an upright and honourable man; I'll stick to focusing on Canadian Zouaves for now, but I'll pray that is he is canonization-worthy, he gets canonized (y): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermann_Kanzler
