    Of course.

A good example was St Benedict the father of Western Monasticism. He started out as a hermit. He was asked to take over a group of monks. They were resolute and tried to poison him when he tried to fix things.

    You're welcome.

Great book, lots of historical information, and really easy to read.

This is one of the witnesses right in the video. I already put it before. I don't know if it was filmed as part of the book, maybe there are more video testimonials.

When he speaks and when you look at him, you get an even different impression. You can see in his eyes that he is saying something that has remained with him some 40 years later as if it happened yesterday and that deeply shook him.

If the Order of St Gregory is heavy maybe she could do is all a favour and pick it up and hit him with it.

On his Woke wicked old head hard as she could. Maybe it might make him a tiny bit Catholic.

All this talk of music, good (Dana) and bad (our current Eurovision entry) makes it topical to talk of my day out last Thursday. The wife and I went up to Dublin to see Eric Clapton. We had a wonderful time. On the (slow) way to the concert, we wandered into a lovely pub, The Ferryman, on the Quays and had a drink. It was busy, so we had to head down towards its basement bar. We found an empty table and sat down. On the wall opposite was a lovely picture of the Sacred Heart and beside it, one of Our Lady and the Infant Jesus. Also, on a shelf, a Child of Praque. Gave me a great boost. Unfortunately, the wife isn't into all that, yet, but I intend to win her over...eventually.

On to the concert. Apart from the music being great, Clapton I know to be religious and he's been a fairly devout Christian for a long time, even during his wild(!) youth. He sang an old song of his, 'Presence of The Lord', which is about what it sounds like it might be about and a poignant song 'Tears In Heaven' about the tragic death of his little son Conor.

Also, I noticed his bass player, a black man called Nathan East, wearing a Rosary beads around his neck. I looked him up afterwards. He's a Catholic and has a brother a priest. A very successful musician in his own right, is Nathan, and it was great to see him making this statement. Made my day.

Thanks for sharing that. Sounds like a lovely pub. And hard to beat a bit of the blues.

I had a drink in a bar in Belfast last weekend called the Spaniard beneath a picture of Padre Pio. The upstairs bar was full of holy pictures and statues.

I have always wanted to hear Eric Clapton live. I didn’t know he was a Christian. Have been a big fan since my student days in the 70s. God bless him

I only heard about the concert afterwards but with Dublin Hotel prices it's nearly cheaper to catch artists elsewhere on their European tours and make a weekend of it.

At the risk of annoying people with something I have posted before:

Cops are openly protecting transgender demons, parents have no clue what world they are opening up their children to. I hope the Sacred Heart prayer rallies start up in Ireland.

I chose to post this on this thread, because it is in the sad context of a fallen Ireland.

However, Irish unity is always something I have cherished in my heart and this has certainly not been lessened by my wife being a Catholic from the North of Ireland.

It is certainly apt to now declare Unionism as a decisive political force on this island as dead.

Unionists still remain and are a very important part of the population of the island, but their veto is defunct. They cannot stop the seemingly inevitable movement towards unity, but I hope and pray that many of them finally see the writing on the wall and embrace the prospect of a unified Ireland in which they have the opportunity to play a far more influential role than their tiny part of the UK offered them, with the exception of those transient occasions when they held the balance of power. I think that the genuine conservatism and religiosity of many of them could be very helpful in putting this country back on a more Christian track. We've lost a Catholic country, may we look forward to a Christian country, with the help of God.

The land of Saints and Scholars turned to a land of Blood and Martyrs. The strength of those Saints and Martyrs is with those who stayed, and supports the descendants of those who left. The Irish will rise again in the Faith that has kept them strong all these years ~ The seeds are there; they will sprout in God's time.

A delicious irony in the elections in Northern Ireland. Aontu are a party consisting of pro-life people who were cast out by Sinn Fein when the latter grew very hungry to murder babies. SF would have won Gregory Campbell's seat today but for the votes lost to the Aontu candidate. Actions have consequences.

There is much to ponder in this post Bobby. We are in big bother here in Ireland - of that there is no doubt. I kind of feel like the 'untied Ireland' thing is being used to entice us - no, to distract us - from the reality of what they're doing to our land, to our country, to our people - behind our backs.
They are flooding us with foreign, undocumented, unvetted fighting-age single males; whilst we are in awe of this 'united Ireland' mirage.
As I say to my brother's - who are mesmerised at the thought of it, 'what will we be united to?'
The masses, like my brothers, are transfixed at the idea of a united Ireland..
Whilst we are distracted, they have eradicated our faith. They attack it at every turn. They butcher our babies in the womb and promote the attack on marriage and on the family. They increase taxes. Increase food and fuel prices. They hate Ireland. They hate the Irish people.
Our only hope I fear is that, for the sake of our ancestors, who remained steadfast in the faith in the face of overwhelming violence etc, our lord will take pity on this generation. And mitigate what's coming. What we deserve...

I absolutely detest Sinn Fein. They didn't come to the front doors this year. I wonder why!?! I used to shout and roar at them to get off my property (not unlike a Karen, I suppose). My wife would be embarrassed. But I never relented. So many people are now kopping onto them. They daren't darken peoples doors anymore.
