When I was young I used to love to daydream. I was very solitary , loved to read , had a great imagination and so had loads to dream about. Being a star ship Captain, a General in a war, a great wizard, whatever.
It was only much later in life when I had walked some way in prayer that the Lord showed me that He wanted me to have these too. He wanted all my thoughts to be off Him and for Him and about Him.

This seemed such a big ask. Anyway it sounded impossible. How could this be. But God , Christ wishes to put all things under His feet, even out thoughts.

For someone living in great place solitude, retired, rarely speaking or meeting other people this might seem relatively easy. But what of busy people with a family and a tasking job? I believe even if we try, we accomplish. We try to do the best we can. In other words if we try to do it , we fulfill it we do all that is asked of us.

But God does really ask for 100 per cent, yes even our thoughts.

One way I notice this a lot is at nightimes when I awake. It is the perfect place for prayer. The perfect place to turn thoughts to God.

Out hearts are tabernacles of the Holy Spirit. Jesus lives within. May we always kneel before the indwelling Christ in prayer.

One of the things I love best about the Spiritual Life is that it is full of surprises and such an adventure! For instance those at the meditative stage can have no idea what contemplative prayer is like, no matter how much they read about it until they experience it. No one in contemplative prayer can know what the prayer of Union is like until they soar like a little bird to the skies.

In a billion years no one who has not experienced the Dark Night can have any understanding of how terrible and wonderful it really, really is.
