As you can see I have created a new Category called, 'Church Critique'. I have moved several threads that may fall into this category into it.

I suggest if people do not like this stuff to stay clear of it. Those who do like to discuss it then can carry on.

If anyone is starting a thread on any hot button issues like this please start them here or I will slide them over.

I may put a little disclaimer up on these threads from time to time if they get a little hot that folks should stay away from this category if it winds them up. No one has to read anything or discuss anything they don't want to.

Padraig, thanks for trying to do something, but (there's always a but, isn't there :) ) this doesn't accomplish the intended purpose. I, and I would hazard to guess the vast majority of the people who post and read the forum, use the "new posts" lists on the right hand side of the main page to find what's going on. Not the Category list. And right now I just looked and of course BrianK is continuing on posting with his agenda which is going after Pope Francis (why does he never post prayers for Pope Francis which is what Our Lady has constantly called for us to do?) so the hot topics remain front and center at the top of that list.

Not sure what you can do, if anything, to fix that, but the fire will continue to rage until all those are chased off who prefer to pray for our church and it's Pope, Cardinal, Bishops, and Priests rather then read one sided attacks on them all day long (and many have already been chased off, more yesterday so we're already close to that point) or some other reasonable alternative is implemented that allows peaceful people to share their faith in this forum without constant agitation from those with an agenda to post day after day, hour after hour, ad infinitum...

Also, is BrianK going to remain a "moderator" on your forum? Do you feel that is wise seeing how he is a divisive person on the forum? A moderator should be what the name means: "an arbitrator or mediator" and by definition should be someone that is a peacemaker, not someone with an agenda that has already publicly threatened as a moderator to silence and ban those that do not conform to his ideas of how things should be.

"Everything before 'but' is BS." ;-)

I think your agenda lost more than 2 to 1, remember? View attachment 6117
And not to put too fine a point on it, but I did not threaten to silence and ban "those that do not conform to his ideas of how things should be."

    Crossposting this for clarity:

I never said to ban those who disagree. I said to cease branding people Pharisees simply for defending the clear words of Christ in scripture and the unanimous 2000 year teaching of the Church on admission of those in manifest grave sin to the Eucharist. It was the Pharisees who pushed divorce in Jesus' time, and it's the modern Pharisees pushing the corollary Kasper agenda. To call the orthodox defenders of the faith Pharisees is pure demonic propaganda and not to be tolerated on a Catholic forum.

Likewise those trying to prevent the faithful from "eating and drinking damnation upon themselves" by preventing sacrilege of the Eucharist are being truly merciful while those pushing Communion for those in manifest grave sin are being demonically unmerciful. To call those defending the Faith in this regard "unmerciful" or "rigid" or legalistic" is demonic propaganda purely designed and employed to break down resistance to sacrilegious Communion and places eternal souls at risk. As such it it cannot be tolerated on a properly moderated Catholic forum.

Likewise those simply defending the continual teaching of Christ and His Church are neither "attacking" nor "hating" this pope. To accuse them of such is a demonic inversion of reality that confuses the unsuspecting and endangers their souls and thus is not to be tolerated on a properly moderated Catholic forum.

Again error has no rights in the Catholic world, and there's no such thing as "free speech" because eternal souls are at stake and a truly Catholic forum requires vigilance and back bone in the face or error and propaganda.

FP, just don't click on the threads - even if they show up on the "new posts" list. It's not really that hard. There are threads I don't venture into myself i.e. Divine Will. Why would not reading topics you don't want to read chase you off the forum... unless it is a veiled stab at trying to silence certain viewpoints... :sneaky:

Thank you for the charitable loving reply, Brian, but I was asking Padraig. By the way, that vote tally is interesting. When I signed off yesterday it was 12 to 2 in favor of shutting down the nonsense, wonder how those numbers changed so dramatically?

But thank you for providing such a loving peaceful reply Brian, and you as a moderator no less, such a shining example of Christ's loving peace. Surely you'll do well to moderate a Catholic forum with your loving peaceful demeanor :)

You used to be able to see who voted. The website is able to show that. The votes changed 10 votes within hours.

But as long as people do not try to spam every thread...then I am happy.

It might be time for the ignore button.

Done, and just adding him to the list really cleaned things up :)

So sad, but I'll still be praying for you BrianK :)

So now the people who didn't get their way are insinuating voter fraud?

    Please get serious.

When I signed off yesterday the vote had been up an hour or two and it was 12 in favor of taking a sabbatical from the divisive talk that has created the turmoil on the forum and 2 against.

the current vote is 13 in favor of shutting it down and 28 against.

Meaning that initial votes were 12-2 in the first hour or two and in the day since the votes were 1 for and 26 against.

Now that certaintly is possible and you are free to believe whatever you want but that makes me scratch my head as not realistic.

I want to know if IDs were checked when folks entered the polling place or if a bunch of sock monkeys showed up in the dead of night. that's a joke, Praetorian, it's ok to laugh, I think :)

To insinuate Padraig would allow that is an insult to his integrity and our intelligence.

    Patima Pilgrim,

If I may interject, if you go back to the original thread, page two, I read where one person stated that she changed her vote, so that may be why it went from 12 down to 11 yes votes.

I too noticed that in the beginning the Yes votes were quite high, it was 12 yes to 9 No when I voted. But later in the evening, I noticed that the trend shifted. What this probably means is that people were at work during the day, and then later at night they voted. I don't know the statistics for this Board, but usually there are more people active in the evening.

Regardless, Padraig's decision was perfect. In this manner the reader is aware that posts about Church Critiques are listed here, and if one chooses not to participate in these, one can ignore this section. Thanks, Padraig.

    God Bless Everyone.

I could just as easily say that when I first looked at the poll the number 12 in support of shutting down the forum shot up quite rapidly. Almost immediately in fact. That seems a little suspicious too, no? It is just as plausible that number is fraudulent. If you follow the tone of the thread though you can clearly see that many people who voted posted why they wanted the forum kept open and that swayed opinion. I think that is a much more reasonable answer.

Plus a solution was struck that gave some satisfaction to everyone. The threads that deal with Church news are now relegated to a small subforum. I think this is a more than adequate solution regardless of how the vote turned out. The threads are now segregated and people who do not wish to read them can clearly see which ones they are.

Why can't you just ignore the threads that you find offensive? This is just like when people say kids can no longer have Halloween parties at school, because one parent called and was offended by them. Or, banning a book from the library so no one can read it, just because a few people have a problem with it. Or, allowing men into women's bathrooms because a few people with mental illness concerning their gender might be offended by reality. It is a classic liberal tactic.

For some people it is not enough to control their own behavior, they want to control everyone else's too. If the voting had gone against what I wanted I would not be here decrying the voting as potentially fraudulent. I would quietly accept the results and deal with it.

Would that this news were fake, or a giant linguistic misunderstanding, dear Fallen Saint. I want that to be true so very much. But it's not just news we are hearing in the U.S. and Ireland. But I have been following Father Fortea's blog for a long while, and I read there the same types of concerns voiced among his posters, as I read here at MOG. Everyone is in a state of shock and disbelief.

These are very frightening times for us all. :( We can only pray, stay close to Our Mother Mary, and help each other along the way.

    May God Bless you,

Yes the whole world is dividing into two.
It seems it is not just the Church but also in politics and society at large as well.
It feels to me as if a sifting is going on.
