I dont think it's a good movie - it is in fact a missed opportunity.

They get (almost) everything wrong. Starting with the title: "only God knows".

Now what's that supposed to mean?

Besides, how can you make a film about Garabandal without mentioning the warning, the miracle and the chastisement!?

Kind of like making a movie about Fatima without mentioning the conversion of Russia and the miracle of the sun.

But anyway it is now availabe online for free.

You may want to check it out - I did.

I saw it...I felt the same as you. They left out significant events.

Julia Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

I watched the video. Was disappointed. Wondered what happened to the night of screams. The local policeman seemed to be a major part of the movie, which I thought a bit strange. The parish Priest was portrayed as a wimp IMHO, and I am sure that would not have been the case in real life.

The night of screams was critical to garabandal in my opinion. This event had the whole village at confessions the next day. What event did they witness that made such a profound impact on that village? It must have been horrific.

    All very good points imo.

Including the night of screams would mean mentioning the chastisement
and they chose to leave that out.

    Why? Only God knows...

Yes! I would have to check but I seem to remember that the night of screams wasn´t even the chastisement but some other major event that would precede the chastisement.

Don´t know - could be wrong on that one.

Blizzard: At first I heard that all of the actors and actresses in the movie were mediocre at best. In August, a villager who owns a religious goods store in the village, said, "mediocre, no. Bad!" Like others on this forum, I have heard that those who knew little or nothing about the apparitions were impressed. Many who had read or seen movies or videos, or had witnessed the ecstasies, were disappointed. A priest here asked if I thought the movie was authentic. How could any reproduction authentically portray what happened in Garabandal between 1961 and 1965? How could college girls act like the children who had the cultural acumen of a seven to nine year old. Look at Loli who often wears the same sweater with a hole in the elbow. The producers did what they set out to do - make Garabandal known. During Holy week they report the movie seen by two million viewers. They did in a day (maybe in an hour) more than I have done in fifty years of telling people what I saw and heard and felt in Garabandal.
I agree, Blizzard, that "only God knows" well why the chastisement, the worldwide Warning, the official pronouncements of the bishops and much more was left out. But we know some of the reasons. The production company, Mater Spei, had limited resources - not even enough money to put advertisements on the Spanish buses. As far as I know, no one, including the producer, Brian Jackson, was paid. Some, if not all, paid their own way to come from all over Spain including from the Canary Islands.
Very soon after the release, those in charge realized the limitations of the movie, possibly even before they started getting questions, like the one you and others raise, and planned a sequel.
For this, Jackson and a cameraman, also like Jackson, a religious brother in the community of Hogar de la Madre in Presillas, some thirty miles east of Garabandal, interviewed a handful of old people. I suspect that the first speaker is the well-known eye-witness Pepe Diez, who died in 1999. May their work (and ours on this forum) serve for the honor and glory of God and the salvation of souls

Yes, you are right. God was clearly behind this project, flawed though it was.

Hopefully thousands will feel the urge to find out more about the extraordinary events of Garabandal.

    Thanks for your input.
