They do exist , and Garabandal is not "unapproved", that would indicate a ruling and there has been none yet,as a matter of fact it is "awaiting approval" upon the Miracle date coming true ! This was the translated hand written by a Spanish priest of Padre Pios TYPED letter in Italian
PADRE PIO’S LETTER CONFIRMED ! I HAVE FOUND THE PROOF I WAS LOOKING FOR TO VERIFY THIS WAS FROM PADRE PIO ! I have found the proof in the book " SHE CAME IN HASTE TO THE MOUNTAIN " pages 363-365. I was told from friends in Spain that the letter was not signed so that Padre Pio would not be in opposition to the church, so how come so many people were sure it was from him ? These pages tell how Conchita asked the Blessed Mother herself in one of her visits, and she confirmed it was from Padre Pio ! Scroll down on this link to the book, and go to the bottom of page 363 and the story starts there, and ends on the bottom of 365. Q. Conchita, do you remember anything about the letter that you are said to have received from Padre Pio? A. “You know that I have moments in which I remember many things about the apparitions very well, and I have moments in which I hardly remember anything at all . . . Concerning what you now ask me, I do remember that I received in the mail a letter addressed to me and the other three girls: Jacinta, Mari Loli and Mari Cruz. I was surprised by what it said; and as it was unsigned, I kept it in my pocket until the time of the apparition. When the Blessed Mother appeared, I showed her the letter . . . and I asked her whom it was from. The Blessed Mother answered that it came from Padre Pio.”

I don't know. I am no expert, but it seems to me the handwriting on the envelope and the unsigned letter are not the same. The capital "S" for example seems noticeably different. Also, I have never heard, for example, that Pope Benedict believes in the validity of Garabandal (this was claimed in an earlier post). I remain a bit skeptical and continue to think that Garabandal may be dangerous, as it keeps devotees' minds in the future ("the warning"), when the great world war is already on.
Priests were assigned to Padre Pio to help with the amount of correspondence he received ( how else could he say mass, hear confessions, and do 30 rosaries ada y! ) They sent a typed letter for Padre Pio, and sent it, then it was hand written translated in Spain, so the writing would not look the same. I also included Conchita's sworn testimony that the Blessed Mother CONFIRMED it was St. Pio
Pope Benedict XVI & Garabandal Pope Benedict XVI knows all about Garabandal , and been very receptive to learning more about it. Not only has he met and interviewed Conchita, ( When I personally spoke to Conchita about the meeting in the Vatican 1968 , she told me she only met him when he was Cardinal Ratzinger, not as Pope Benedict.) He has all the latest investigation papers, eyewitness testimonies of the miracles, etc. performed through the intercession of Our Lady of Garabandal, sent to him by the well known promoter the late Fr. Francis Benac, S.J. He has also read the Garabandal book “ O Children Listen to Me “ Cardinal Ratzinger became the Prefect (head) of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, on November 25, 1981,the Vatican department in charge of protecting the sacred deposit of the faith handed on from the apostles. Considering how close he was with Pope John Paul II, who was a vocal supporter of Garabandal, him meeting Conchita, reading up on the subject, it’s no surprise to me, that he is a believer too. The reason I say this is I have it on good authority that he has conveyed his belief to a Vatican priest ,who is also a Canon Lawyer (who wishes to remain nameless ). According to journalist John L. Allen Jr.'s 2005 biography entitled: 'Pope Benedict XVI: A Biography of Joseph Ratzinger' (pages 118-119 ) his interest in Garabandal began long before becoming Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. It actually began when he was a professor of theology at the Gustav Siewerth Haus Academy, located in Germany's Black Forest. Every summer he gave a course in dogmatic exegesis at the private academy from 1970 thru 1979. It is said that he knew of and took the Garabandal apparitions seriously even then. Author John Allen, Jr. confirmed this from several of Joseph Ratzinger's former graduate students. Monsignor Juan Antonio del Val, in addition to giving permission for the movie made by BBC, made a personal investigation for several years about the Apparitions of Garabandal and is one of the witnesses on the video, “Garabandal, the Eyewitnesses,” produced by Michael Tubberty and published in more that thirty languages by Monsignor Roman Danylak, titular Bishop of Nyssa, Rome, Italy. (January 24, 2000). 1989 Monsignor del Val finally opens the Second Commission (with the support of Rome) testifies that the findings of the investigation of the Apparitions of the Most Holy Virgin Mary in Garabandal were sent to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith; more specifically, to Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger. ( This led to Pope Benedict XVI confirming belief in Garabandal).

Pope John Paul I died today on September 28,1978. (only 33 days after being installed as Pontiff). Now I mention this with good reason. His passing actually caused one of the prophecy misunderstandings. When Conchita said there would be "3 more popes, until " the end of the times" she was not counting Pope John Paul I because of his short reign. Albrecht Weber, the author of the book “The Finger of God“, had become involved in Garabandal in 1963 and became friendly with Conchita. On November 14, 1965, the day after the last apparition of Our Lady in Garabandal, Mr. Weber interviewed Conchita at her home in the presence of her mother. There was also present with Mr. Weber an interpreter. During that interview, it came out that when Conchita had spoken, on the very day that Pope John XXIII died, of “Three more Popes and then would come "the end of the times,” (NOT the end of all time ) her mother had asked her several questions. In response to one of her mother’s questions, Conchita responded that Our Lady had actually said that there would be FOUR MORE POPES but that She was not counting one of them. When Conchita’s mother heard that she strictly forbade Conchita to repeat that again as her mother feared there would be erroneous interpretations and much gossip. People might wrongly believe that one of the Popes might be false or bad, etc. During that conversation with her mother, Conchita also said that Our Lady had told her that one of the Popes would have a very short reign. Even though his Pontificate was short , he did leave us with a wonderful quote that immediately reminded me of something Mary said at Garabandal. He said: "What a mistake those who do not hope make! Judas made a huge blunder the day in which he sold Christ for 30 denarii, but he made an even bigger one when he thought that his sin was too great to be forgiven. No sin is too big: any wretchedness, however great, can always be enclosed in infinite mercy." Reminds me of a part of Mary's 2nd message at Garabandal: 2nd message:June 18, 1965-- " You should turn the wrath of God away from yourselves by your efforts. If you ask His forgiveness with sincere hearts, He will pardon you. "
TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY: SEPTEMBER 29, 1967: In the evening of the Feast of St. Michael, Conchita, preferring not to join this group in prayer, rather climbed up to the Pines with a few other persons. While the visionary and her friends knelt down in prayer, a star rose and remained above them during their whole prayer! [Excerpt from 'Garabandal' Book, J. Serre, page 214
Since today , September 29th is the feastday of St. Michael ,here are a few stories about him at Garabandal. St. Michael at Garabandal Conchita’s description of St. Michael : “ He looked about 9 years old, but appeared to be very strong. He wore a light blue robe that covered his feet. He had two big wide wings, motionless, pink in color but with a reddish hue, much darker than his face”. July 9, 1961 At 8:30 the girls arrived at the customary place and, after making the Sign of the Cross, I saw them in the same state as always, but this time very happy. I saw them all smile and wave goodbye several times. One could see their lips moving, as if they were speaking and then giving a kiss. This lasted 10 minutes and then we led them to the church. I asked them one by one and they told me that the Angel had said, "Let me see what beautiful teeth you have,” and that he had also shown his teeth to them. Afterwards, I had the priests and the parents come into the sacristy and their account coincided with what [the girls] had told me. I assume there must have been about 1,000 people. They said he had kissed them on the forehead and cheeks, and that they had kissed him. St. Michael taught the girls how to receive communion Throughout the period of the apparitions, Saint Michael brought Holy Communion to the visionaries on days when mass was unavailable in the village. It is worth recalling his instructions on reception of the Eucharist. Before receiving communion he requested of the children to say an Act of Contrition and before thanksgiving after reception he taught them to say the Anima Christi (“Soul of Christ”) of Saint Ignatius Loyola. Why would St. Michael give Communion ? During the whole period of the apparitions, the visionaries received Communion almost every day, either at the Mass in the village, or from the hands of the Angel when there was no priest at Garabandal. [Excerpted from 'Garabandal' Book, J.Serre page 65.] St. Michael took hosts from Tabernacles May 1973 Interview :Where did St. Michael get the Communion hosts from ? Q: Doctor Dominguez: Since only priests can consecrate, did you ever ask the Virgin where the angel got the Hosts? A:Conchita: Yes, we did ask because a priest told us to. The Virgin said that the angel took the already-consecrated Hosts from tabernacles on earth.
UNTANGLED ROSARIES Another interesting miraculous phenomenon was the returning of rosaries. Now that people started to believe the Blessed Mother was actually appearing at Garabandal, they came in the hundreds, and thousands, they would bring their rosaries and medals to be kissed by her. They were all piled on a table for the girls to offer up to her. Entangled when presented by the girls to be venerated by the Blessed Mother, rosaries, medals, and multitude of objects would incredibly untangle smoothly when being returned to their owners. Even without any pre-established order. The Garabandal visionaries also never errored in returning each object to its proper owner, and never actually had to look for the owner, Mary led them to the owner while gazing upward at her. This story is mentioned in the “ Garabandal” book, by J. Serre, pgs 50-54
THIS DAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY : OCTOBER 1, 1961: [Photo] Pastor Don Valentin "THE BLESSED VIRGIN TOLD ME ONE THING . . . MORE IMPORTANT THAN ALL YOU [DON VALENTIN] HAVE WRITTEN UNTIL NOW." First day and also first Sunday of the "month of the Holy Rosary" Conchita, at the end of a nocturnal ecstasy, told Don Valentin that she had just learned something from the Blessed Virgin which was far more important than anything that the pastor of Garabandal had been able to note until now. It dealt almost certainly with the future conversion of Protestants or Anglicans, according to what Conchita herself told Placido Ruiloba at that time: "Why do you criticize the Protestants, since 'soon' [better said 'without delay' ('pronto'), since that Spanish word does not in effect mean necessarily 'soon,' but rather the fact that an event will occur 'fast and unhindered'], we will be reunited (or "ONE" - comunes)". Our Lady would reveal gradually to the visionary the first element of a future "major Church event," that is, "the perfect Unity of all Christians at last being accomplished, the very "reunification of Churches" in the Unique Church of Christ! True she began revealing it, one might reasonably think, through the deceased Padre Luis, from August 15, 1961 on other people there. Kind of a prophetic preview and experience of the future worldwide AVISO? [The Warning]. As to Maximo Foerschler, a German engineer and a fervent Protestant, he went to San Sebastian de Garabandal for the first time on the 13th of October 1961. Later he was to return there many times. The Blessed Virgin said of him to the visionaries, that "he believes in God, but little in Me. He will believe . . .". Effectively, that is what was to happen. Very quickly convinced of the supernatural authenticity of Garabandal when he was still a Protestant, Mr. Foerschler would eventually write his testimony in a remarkable document addressed to Msgr. Beitia Aldazabal. [Excerpted from 'Garabandal' Book, J. Serre, pages 105-106]
IN TIME , MARY REVEALS ALL. I have a rarely heard story of Our Lady kissing a woman's powdercase. We know most of the stories are about kissed religious objects. The reason I post this ( besides being a rarely heard story ) is that it reminds me of we don't always understand everything that happened at Garabandal , until later on. I think this story proves my point. Never question our Blessed Mother's intentions, even if we don’t understand it right away. One day Conchita was in the kitchen of her house surrounded by persons who were waiting for the moment of the apparition. On the simple table that served for the family meals, the objects that she was going to give to be kissed were being gathered. Together with these, someone had put there a stylish woman's powder case. The child and those present wanted this removed. How could the Virgin come to kiss an object so profane and used only for the service of vanity? Nevertheless, the powder case remained there. The ecstasy began and those present saw with astonishment that the visionary's hand, without her looking at it, before going to any other object, went first of all toward the previously discussed powder case. The child raised it toward the invisible Virgin and then set it down with great respect on the table. Among those present, surprise must have been mingled with doubt. Was it really the Virgin who was appearing? It didn't seem that she would kiss such an object . . . As soon as the ecstasy was finished, Conchita was asked for an explanation. And she declared that the Virgin had asked immediately for the powder case in order to kiss it, saying that it was something «belonging to her Son».The girl did not know anything more. But the person who had put the powder case there did know more and revealed the secret. During the terrible Spanish civil war (1936-1939) in the Red Zone when priests were being executed and had to be hidden, the powder case had been used to bring Communion Hosts to various locations and especially to prisoners whom the Reds held captive in order to execute. Thus it had served as a Pyx.
