I picked up Father and we’re staying in a hotel tonight. We need to find him a more permanent place to live. The bishop won’t let him back on diocesan property so he can’t go back to his room at the diocesan retirement residence. They won’t even let him in to pick up his personal belongings. His first hearing is Thursday morning. Thank you for your prayers!
Prayers this morning. The usual thing is to regard a person as innocent until proven guilty. I think the Diocesan authorities are lacking in duty of care in this. The most terrible thing with this is the , 'No smoke without fire attitude'. Mud clings.
I learned an interesting piece of “good” news this morning from Father. The other priest I mentioned in my first post, one of the worst offenders, once tried to get me personally excommunicated. I never knew that! Truly, a badge of honor!
We both got a good nights rest. He’s decompressing and had his usual good spirits and quirky sense of humor. (Is that a hallmark of the highly intelligent/genius level individual?) He was telling funny stories of being in the “tank” (the county prison) for a week. He lost 7 pounds and said he’s giving them a 1 star “do not recommend” rating on Trip Advisor Frankly I think he enjoyed it, in a strange way. While he was there he helped his fellow cell mates and composed a “Rosary of the Imprisoned,” drawing on 15 stories from the OT and NT of biblical saints who spent time being held or imprisoned, starting with Joseph in the well.
How good of you to come to Father's rescue Brian. I will pray for a good outcome in court tomorrow. God bless you both.
Update - our biggest concern has been finding a place for Fr. Tony to live. I just managed to contact an old friend of his who has an apartment in part of his home and he has gladly agreed to let Fr. Tony stay with him as long as needed.
Tonight we had dinner at our friends house who has been working feverishly with me to make all this happen for Fr. Tony. She’s an old friend and fellow culture warrior and homeschooler from my old diocese. A couple months ago I made her a cherry kitchen utensil canister, a large and small Bradford pear spatula and cooking spoon, and three cherry dry goods kitchen scoops on my wood lathe. So part of our visit was her showing off her custom made kitchen stuff to Fr. Tony lol I asked her how she liked cooking with them, puzzled as they have no obvious stains or scratches as you’d expect. “Are you kidding?!? These are too nice to use for cooking! I just sit them on the counter and show them off to everyone!” Then she takes out a spatula and rubs it on Fr. Tony’s cheek and says, “Feel how smooth they are! How did you get them so smooth?!? It must have taken three days!” She’s my biggest fan lol!
