That is a millinariasm description of christ returning and reigning on earth in the flesh during the Era of peace. That is a heresy that has been condemned by the church.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church says, The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.575 575 Cf. 2 Th 2:4-12; I Th 5:2-3; 2 Jn 7; I Jn 2:1 8, 22. Let's analyze this sentence and footnote closely. The "Antichrist" will promote a "religious deception." That deception will deceive "believers" in the Church (meaning the Catholic Church). Said another way, he will "deceive, if possible, even the elect." The Catholic Church is governed by the Pope. The Pope is the only man on earth that can cause Catholic believers ("the elect") to stray from the most fundamental truths of the Catholic faith. We know that a canonically-elected Pope would not do this because the Papacy is protected by the Holy Spirit from substantial error. However, an Antipope is not prevented from such errors. Now, let's look at the footnote, which refers to 2 Thessalonians 2:4-12. Here is that passage (NABRE Translation) about the Antichrist: 4 who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god and object of worship, so as to seat himself in the temple of God, claiming that he is a god— 5 do you not recall that while I was still with you I told you these things? 6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. But the one who restrains is to do so only for the present, until he is removed from the scene.8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord [Jesus] will kill with the breath of his mouth and render powerless by the manifestation of his coming, 9 the one whose coming springs from the power of Satan in every mighty deed and in signs and wonders that lie, 10 and in every wicked deceit for those who are perishing because they have not accepted the love of truth so that they may be saved. 11 Therefore, God is sending them a deceiving power so that they may believe the lie, 12 that all who have not believed the truth but have approved wrongdoing may be condemned. Did you notice how the CCC description of the Antichrist matches the 2Th2 description? Let's compare them side by side: CCC: glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh. 2Th2: exalts himself above every so-called god and object of worship. Clearly this is the same person described in both texts. But let's look at what 2 Thessalonians 2 says in addition about this person, that he will "seat himself in the temple of God, claiming that he is a god." For St. Paul, "the temple of God" is a Catholic Church. He is not referring to some Third Temple that the current Jews will build in the modern nation of Israel. So this Antichrist is "seated," as a Bishop, in the Roman Catholic Church. Which bishop? Well, which bishop is the only bishop with power and influence over the entire Church? The Bishop of Rome. So, the Antichrist is definitely an Antipope because the Catholic believers, "the elect," would not fall for a "religious deception" by anyone except someone who they thought (incorrectly) was a true Pope, a false Bishop of Rome.
EricH, what you are referring to when you say "That is...." Do you mean that CCC Section 676 only describes a heresy related to Christ returning and reigning on earth in the flesh? If so, you are incorrect. CCC 676 is describing the Antichrist's deception: 676 The Antichrist's deception already begins to take shape in the world every time the claim is made to realize within history that messianic hope which can only be realized beyond history through the eschatological judgement. The Church has rejected even modified forms of this falsification of the kingdom to come under the name of millenarianism,576 especially the "intrinsically perverse" political form of a secular messianism.577 576 Cf. DS 3839. 577 Pius XI, Divini Redemptoris, condemning the "false mysticism" of this "counterfeit of the redemption of the lowly"; cf. GS 20-21. Yes, footnote 576 references the Holy Office decree about a particular type of millenarianism called "mitigated Millenarianism," which is the error that you described, but as the sentence says, continuing, there is another form of millenarianism which it describes as "the 'intrinsically perverse' political form of secular messianism." The footnote related to the "secular messianism"part of the sentence is to Pius XI's Divini Redemptoris and Gaudium et spes 20-21. Those texts deal with modern political ideologies that promise a kind of humanistic heaven on earth, through ideologies of "liberation," like Communism or Liberation Theology. Here is part of that section from Gaudium et spes: 20. Modern atheism often takes on a systematic expression which, in addition to other causes, stretches the desires for human independence to such a point that it poses difficulties against any kind of dependence on God. Those who profess atheism of this sort maintain that it gives man freedom to be an end unto himself, the sole artisan and creator of his own history. They claim that this freedom cannot be reconciled with the affirmation of a Lord Who is author and purpose of all things, or at least that this freedom makes such an affirmation altogether superfluous. Favoring this doctrine can be the sense of power which modern technical progress generates in man. Not to be overlooked among the forms of modern atheism is that which anticipates the liberation of man especially through his economic and social emancipation. This form argues that by its nature religion thwarts this liberation by arousing man's hope for a deceptive future life, thereby diverting him from the constructing of the earthly city. Consequently when the proponents of this doctrine gain governmental power they vigorously fight against religion, and promote atheism by using, especially in the education of youth, those means of pressure which public power has at its disposal. ... So, CCC 676 is saying that the Antichrist's deception is going to be a type of "secular messianism," in which the Antichrist promises people "peace and security," which is "an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth." This man, the Antichrist, will preach things like the importance of saving the earth (Laudato Si) and human fraternity (Fratelli Tutti), while ignoring the consequences of individual sin and eternal damnation and the Commandments of God. You might notice that the Antichrist has already published parts of his "secular Messianic" manifesto (linked in the preceding paragraph).
I tend to cringe when well-meaning Catholics seek to decipher the veiled future regarding an eschatological roadmap, PNF. I'm not attacking you personally, but in the end Jesus himself taught how to face uncertain Times. What Christ teaches us is to be prepared and ready at all times for if we are prepared for our own death we will be prepared for the end times. Should accurate calculations alter the path of discipleship we are on? When the Catholic Church, for the most part, capitulated to the USA government's covid-19 regulatory demands, hardships were experienced in regard to attending Holy Mass, receiving Holy Communion, and accessing the confessional. I generally did not falter, but was caught off guard and had to adjust. The times of the AntiChrist will be even more intense. To prepare primarily means inculcating fasting, the Rosary, other family prayers, Scripture, and mutual support among ourselves, with an aim to access Holy Mass when available. Fr. Ripperger explains how we are to spiritually survive and by doing so lead others to God. If we begin to practice these disciplines now, we can be more readily prepared... Look up : What to do when sacraments are not available.
Most parishioners in my little world are not prepared, but with any pile of building blocks, a solid foundation still needs to be laid. I'm striving to help my pastor, Fr. Francis, do this. Who can any of us help in this regard? If who you say is the AntiChrist is true, we best up the ante in preparation. If not, tough times are still on the horizon. Lord have Mercy!
Lord have Mercy, indeed! PNF’s analysis on an antipope is believed by some. Is Francis the “antipope” prophesied by St Francis, and more recently Fr Roux? Every passing day sure looks like it.
I personally believe Pope Francis is the antipope prophesied for the “end of an era,” not the end of the world. That’s where you and I differ.
I am no fan of Papa Frankie but he is not the anti Christ. It is natural to suppose we are entering such a terrible period. Truly as was mentioned the very worst in the history of the World. But all that is happening now is but a pale shadow of what will come at end of time with the anti Christ and Armageddon, the final battle But the world at tgr moment does echo these further dark events that will take place many centuries or millenia from today
We all need to keep this in mind. The ac comes with the major chastisement. That is a long ways off. We are currently nearing the minor chastisement, foretold at Fatima, Akita etc. Prophecy does say that people living through the minor chastisement will think it’s the end of the world, it will be so severe. But immediately on the other side of the minor chastisement is the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart, the era of peace and the restoration and glorious flowering of the Church for the final evangelization. The interpretation that the coming of the ac is imminent is a fundamentalist/ evangelical Protestant error.
Hi Byron, just to clarify my position. I believe what the Catechism says we are required as Catholics to believe (https://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/__P1X.HTM): IN BRIEF 680 Christ the Lord already reigns through the Church, but all the things of this world are not yet subjected to him. the triumph of Christ's kingdom will not come about without one last assault by the powers of evil. 681 On Judgement Day at the end of the world, Christ will come in glory to achieve the definitive triumph of good over evil which, like the wheat and the tares, have grown up together in the course of history. 682 When he comes at the end of time to judge the living and the dead, the glorious Christ will reveal the secret disposition of hearts and will render to each man according to his works, and according to his acceptance or refusal of grace. As you can see, the Catechism uses the phrases "end of time" and "end of the world" synonymously to designate the time of the Second Coming/Final Judgement. In other words, those two phrases refer to the same period, not two different periods. Note also that this part of the Catechism is explaining the Apostle's Creed. All Catholics must believe in that Creed as it has been interpreted by the Church. We cannot have our own ideas that differ from that of the Church in these matters. That would be heresy.
I saw this posted on another site today and it always amazes me how Benedict’s (Card Ratzinger at the time) prophesy is spot on. Not sure when all the details in these timelines come forward but no doubt the Church will be holier as our beloved and late Pope prophesized
There is a difference in saying the “end of the world” or “the end of time.” End of time is about a “period of history (era) marked by a new or distinct order of things.” “Eras and ages are usually made up of more than one century. For example the Roman Empire.” “When a period of time, which is marked by a significant event, comes to an end - implies that there could be another phase yet to come.” So, the Catechism is quite clear. End of the world, is the opposite of end of time. They are two different meanings. We are in the time when a new era is coming, not the end of the world.
This will be the next era: "Soon we will have priests reduced to the role of social workers and the message of faith reduced to a political vision. Everything will seem lost, but at the right time, only in the most dramatic phase of the crisis, the Church will be reborn. It will be smaller, poorer, almost catacumbal, but also holier. For it will no longer be the church of those who seek to please the world, but the church of believers in God and his Eternal Law. The revival will be the work of a small, seemingly insignificant, but indomitable, remnant, undergone a process of purification. Because that's how God works.” A small flock withstands evil.” Pope Benedict.
I believed for a long time that Benedict XVI would become a martyred pope in accordance with the Third Part of the Secret of Fatima. After his death, I am more inclined to understand this vision of the little shepherds of Fatima as something symbolic. I think it refers to the destruction of the Papacy and the Roman Catholic Church.
I sort of agree with your interpretation Garabandal. However I believe there are 2 possible alternative scenarios. Scenario 1) I take into account Our Lady of La Salette and her words to Melanie. Our lady states.... “The righteous will suffer greatly. Their prayers, their penances and their tears will rise up to Heaven and all of God’s people will beg for forgiveness and mercy and will plead for my help and intercession. And then Jesus Christ, in an act of His justice and His great mercy will command His Angels to have all His enemies put to death. Suddenly, the persecutors of the Church of Jesus Christ and all those given over to sin will perish and the earth will become desert-like. And then peace will be made, and man will be reconciled with God. Jesus Christ will be served, worshipped and glorified. Charity will flourish everywhere. The new kings will be the right arm of the holy Church, which will be strong, humble, and pious in Its poor but fervent imitation of the virtues of Jesus Christ. The Gospel will be preached everywhere and mankind will make great progress in its faith, for there will be unity among the workers of Jesus Christ and man will live in fear of God. “This peace among men will be short-lived. Twenty-five years of plentiful harvests will make them forget that the sins of men are the cause of all the troubles on this earth." This above Era of peace of 25 years could be that promised by Our Lady at Fatima! If so, I believe this will happen after the warning and miracle. Its not a long period of peace but hopefully enough time to fortify the faith of all those who recognise truth after the warning and miracle. The conversion of all those of good will including our children and grand children will need the grace of perseverance to remain faithful. The coming of the antichrist after this 25 years of peace will distort and diminish all that God has done, may they all remain faithful. Amen Scenario 2) The possibility that we are now living the end times and the great Monarch and the great pontiff are just an elusion, a figment of pious imagination. Faithful Catholics are called to evangelise now, even though it is hard, because the antichrist is already at hand and he intends to subjugate all humans unto himself. The Evil one may be using the WHO, GAVI, WEF, Blackrock, Rothschilds, the illuminati, the freemasons and many other organisations to influence the governments of all countries at this moment. We now have a global preparedness treaty prepared by the WHO which requires all nations to sign this treaty by May this year 2024. The WHO (as well as all of the above) are an unelected group of Christophobic, satanists that wish to rule the world). The current WHO treaty on the table (if signed by countries) will enable the WHO to govern what medications they must take, how they are to spend their money, what they are allowed to eat, what fuel they are to use, what they are allowed to do and what they must think (very much like China today), it will enforce universal laws to override all national laws. One of these universal laws allows for murder of unborn children no matter the age of their gestation. After this WHO treaty is signed by Nations (this year before May 2024), than the sovereign Constitutional Laws of the nation and its constitution law will be null and void! We will have no recourse to justice or to common sense! Sounds very much like the antichrist era. If this is so, than the words of Our Lady of Fatima.... "that in the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph" may very well mean in the end! Maybe the triumph of our Lady's Immaculate Heart will coincide with the Kingdom of the Sacred Heart of Jesus! Being that of the second coming of Jesus where all shall be judged, with a new and glorious earth descends for all saints and all tears are wiped away. Praise God in His Great Glory! Divine Mercy of Jesus I trust in Thee. Amen
