A voice like Mihalia Jackson only comes around once a century. She has the voice of an angel that dropped from heaven. She sings like she means it as a believer. This song is a tender love song to God. God is so good to me. I look forward to meeting this wonderful lady in heaven should God in his mercy allow me to pass into his heaven
Amazing performance! Note the old-world acoustics while reading music from ipads! Ban guitars from churches - they do not raise the heart to God.
Recently (22 August) we celebrated the Feast of the Queenship of Mary. The elderly organist played 4 traditional hymns. The congregation, average age late sixties, sang with enthusiasm and praise. Modern music does not elicit the same response (nor does it draw significantly more young people) There is nothing worse than a vigorous modern hymn like the Galilee Song, one absolutely devoid of Catholic thought, while trying to offer thanksgiving after Communion!
So uplifting! Gregorian is so prayerful. The words are so much more prayerful than the 'happy' lyrics sung with enthusiasm at many a Sunday mass.
Fr Ripperger claims that playing Gregorian chant in the background through the day literally puts demons to flight.
So now for something completely different…. I’m a big Van the Man fan, and have not heard this one in a long time … popped up on my playlist. Especially Love the lyrics.
I cannot find a previous post with Laura Bretan. Laura came to fame, aged 13, in America's got Talent. Singing in a church choir from childhood , she sings some profoundly religious songs. This rendition of Via Dolerosa is enough to make one cry: VIA DOLEROSA
Song of Angels! Imagine this in one of our modern 'churches'! Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky - Hymn of the Cherubim
Lovely. Big fan too. I'm seeing van the man next Saturday night in Belfast in the Limelight must be about the sixth time I will have seen him live.
