I have a child going in for surgery today and though he knew about this for a couple of months, he avoided the subject completely and today is in panic mode, crying and saying that he is terrified of the pain and the whole procedure! We don't want to cancel this but at the same time, we don't want our child going into surgery in a state of fear. I could use some prayers for everything to work out in peace. Thank you.
Jesus please give peace to the heart and mind of Andree's child and keep the child safe during surgery
Praying,,, Promise the child something special to take their mind of it.. You could also maybe tell them the story of little Nellie.. http://www.mysticsofthechurch.com/2011/03/nellie-organ-little-nellie-of-holy-god.html
St Ann and St Joachim please intercede for this your adopted grand son before your grand son Jesus Christ. Amen!
Precious Lord, please quiet this sweet child's mind, bring him peace, and deliver him safely through surgery. Amen
Thank you all so much for your prayers, which I do believe were answered. The operation was to correct a problem which is not life-threatening, but affects him negatively and has several days of recuperation. But with the surgeon and nurses, we decided to cancel it because there was too much fear in our child. This was a lesson in letting go for me too, since we think at some point, the issue will cause him some pain, which we want to avoid. But he will have to decide on correcting this for himself when he is older. But one thing did happen, which made me so happy and hopeful. When it was time for bed, I told him that I would stay up to say my rosary and he said "I'll say it with you." Although he had me pack his things for the hospital, he brought a few personal things, including his rosary. So last night, he said his first rosary - woohoo! The experience showed us that when in fear, he turned to the right person: Our Lady. God Bless you all.
There is a reason for every season under the Son! First Rosary wow, a good sign. I just had surgery on Wednesday and no matter how old of a child you may be it is still difficult to face surgery! Strength in your faith, growing, loving and deepening our understanding of God and our Holy Mother always helps. I would say he is on the right path to recovery with his first rosary! Prayers for you all.
I'm wondering if this fear might have been a warning that this was not the time for surgery. Especially, as things turned out after so many prayers over this issue. Just a thought...
