It's one of those songs that stays in your head, very catchy. I find myself singing along with it, but then have to stop myself when he gets to the Hare hare, Krishna krishna part!
For some strange, bizarre reason, one song that I make into a prayer when I hear it is George Harrison's Got My Mind Set On You. The chorus about money is unsuitable but the rest for me speaks about taking time, getting to know God; for me it is how contemplation works, seeking God in deep prayer. Yes, I know there is better music out there. But I did say it was a bit random of me for picking this song (minus chorus).
Why is country music from the devil? Some songs I can see why, but there are many country songs with nothing bad about them at all.
This one made me laugh. A priest from Oldcastle, Meath singing Leonard Cohen's Allelulia for a married couple & adapts the words for them. Great
In that priest's radio interview this morning, he said he is a couple of months short of his 25th anniversary of becoming a priest, and he is 60 years old. A late vocation. I can't sing a note and it always takes my breath away to hear someone like him sing so beautifully and apparently so effortlessly. Here's another one I think is suited to this thread:
I know the lead singer recently battled cancer: Too Late for Hallelujah by Aslan What have you got? That you can leave behind If it fits in a box Was it a waste of time? Do you deserve how cold you feel right now? What have you learnt? Did you stop to write it down? You never needed anyone But you need someone today You never needed anyone But you need someone today [Chorus:] When it all breaks down When it all breaks up And it's too late now Too late for Hallelujah When you burn and fall Too late for Hallelujah How did it taste at your table for one? How did you dance if you never held someone? You never asked for anything And that's exactly what you've got Desperately you tried to change But every skins just feels the same [Chorus] I used to hear you say Nothing can change your mind Look how the angels pray Only the truth survive Too late [2x] Whoa, whoa, whoa Too late for Hallelujah
I recently felt that the song "Into the West", from the Lord of the Rings soundtrack, sung by Annie Lennox, is a powerful allegory of the end time battle, and victory of good over evil. So beautiful, it brings tears to my eyes when I listen to it, with this spiritual battle in my mind...
I've always thought this song could have a different meaning when you think of Jesus' love for us. In particukar: "Just remember in the winter, far beneath the bitter snow Lies the seed, that with the sun's ( Son's) love in the spring becomes the rose.
I think this is the right place to post from an American singer, My youngest daughter (24) sent me a text asking if I had heard it yet, when I seen the title I just thought "oh its about Carrie Underwood's pregnancy" I must explain, not knowing if this saying is elsewhere, here in parts of the US when that title is said, it is in reference to many women being with child, in the same location... much to my surprise it is nothing like that! Makes me wonder how many thought the same thing, by the Title...and missed it ~ I just wanted to share it with others ..... This young woman has a powerful voice so, make sure your speakers are adjusted correctly =] although sometimes loud is good ! John 4:14 Jesus answered and said to her, "Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; 14but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.
