My SIL called last night. Her daughter has two good friends who went to law school with her and both work in DC. One in the state dept and one in treasury ( i think) they have very responsible jobs. You are correct. The old world is dying and has been for sometime. It is a world built upon massive country debts and for most that is not sustainable. Even in the US, you just can't keep printing money to pay your debts like we have done for so long now. What you are seeing on the global scale is posturing of nations picking sides. In one camp you have Russia, China, Iran, and then other nations within BRICS and more nations wanting to join. They want to move away from the US $ and have been wanting oil to be allowed to be purchased in sold in anything but US dollars. On the other side, you see the US building a North and South America alliance and control through deals when possible or force. You have especially seen this in Venezuala, attemps in Greenland and the threats to Columbia, Cuba and others. What the US has done has gained control of Venezuela oil and gas and wants to get control of more rare earth materials and resources in Greenland so that they and others on this side of the alliance does not need to rely on China. In the Middle East, the plan is to have all oil and gas control as well as the operation of the Strait of Hormuz be a conglomerate of Muslim nations to run it ultimateley primarily with Saudia Arabia and the UAE. Europe is the mystery here because in this new world they would have a choice in oil and gas purchased to come from Russia, the US or combination of both. Will be interesting to see how all this plays out but the US and Russia for that matter know the old world is dying and in the new world, the more independant you can be the better. China is also the odd nation out. They need so much oil and gas from imports. They can continue to get more from Russia but with the loss of Venezuela oil and now potentially Iran, they will be hurting for sometime and have to deal with the US to get the shortfalls they need outside of Russia. All this is very fragile and at any moment could lead to greater wars but hopefully we don't go that route and all these nations can come to an agreement and peace. In history wars are mostly fought over resources so let's hope and pray a new larger conflict doesn't break out over this power struggle for control of oil and gas globally. What I have left out is also fertilizer control. Whomemver controls fertilizer and shipping lanes controls global food growth as well!
