Today in Garabandal History MARCH 25, 1962: AN OUTSTANDING "FEAST OF THEANNUNCIATION" AT GARABANDAL A sheer wonder as well was this Feast of the "Annunciation" (or "Incarnacion del Senor," as it is still called, and rightly so, in Spain) in the little village of San Sebastian de Garabandal. From 9:30 p.m. until midnight, Conchita, Mari-Loli and Jacinta, in ecstasy, sang the entire Rosary for the first time! They added several verses, that the Blessed Virgin inspired them to sing, to the traditional announcements of the different mysteries, including several short stanzas from the Ave Maria of Fatima. Always in ecstasy, the girls invited the people to join them in their singing. They rejoiced over the number of people accompanying them, and exclaimed: "Ah, how happy the Blessed Virgin is! How she is smiling, and how she is looking at all of us!" Translation of a few stanzas sung by the visionaries in ecstasy: O MOST BLESSED MARY, FLOWERS, WE BRING YOU, THE HOLY ROSARY, TO YOU WE OFFER. (AVE MARIA, AVE MARIA, ETC . . .) O BLESSED MARY, YOUR EYES ARE NOW FIXED . . . ON EACH AND EVERY HEART OF THIS HUMAN WORLD. (AVE MARIA, AVE MARIA, ETC . . .) THE FASHIONS BEAR US TO THE FIRES OF HELL. SO, MODESTY DRESS IF YOU WISH TO BE SAVED. (AVE MARIA, AVE MARIA, ETC . . .) YOU MUST DO PENANCE, AND YOU MUST ALSO PRAY, FOR ALL SINNERS PRAY FOR FORGIVENESS. (AVE MARIA, AVE MARIA, ETC . . .) ON THE THIRTEENTH OF MAY THE VIRGIN MARY CAME DOWN FROM THE HEAVENS TO THE COVA DA IRIA. (AVE MARIA, AVE MARIA, ETC . . .) MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN NOW YOU KNOW OUR MESSAGES; THE VIRGIN MARY WANTS THEM ALL DONE FOR THE GOOD OF ALL HOMES. (AVE MARIA, AVE MARIA, ETC . . .) THE VIRGIN HAS WARNED US: WITH THIS TIME, IT MAKES THREE. OH, SWEET VIRGIN MARY, WHAT GRIEF DEATH GIVES US! (AVE MARIA, AVE MARIA, ETC . . .) MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN, RECITE THE ROSARY, SO IN THE OTHER WORLD, YOU MAY FIND REST. (AVE MARIA, AVE MARIA, ETC . . .) From 'Garabandal' Book, by J. Serre, page 128
Simon González, Jacinta's father, talks about Communion from St. Michael. When the Angel appeared for the first time, Jacinta told us that night. She said that she had seen an Angel, but I didn’t believe her. We didn’t tell anyone at all, but eventually it became common knowledge. Her brother Miguel Ángel said, “It was probably just a big bird. She’s just exaggerating.” And I said, “That’s enough!” But by the way she explained it, I knew that something different was happening. The first day that people from the town went to accompany the girls, I did not go. But when they came down from the calleja (a stone path that leads to the pines), and told me what had happened, I wished I had gone! A few days later, I went for the first time. I had read a little bit about what ecstasies are, but it’s one thing to read it on paper, and it’s quite another to actually see it… It brought me to tears. It took place in the calleja. Whenever I went to accompany the girls, there were always people from the village and from further away. From the beginning, people who had heard about the visions by word-of-mouth came from outside of Garabandal—from different provinces and towns close by. I was especially touched when the Angel gave them communion. Jacinta came and told us that the Angel gave them Communion. They told us about it, and we could see that the Angel would start at one side of the line of the four girls and end on the other side. Each girl put out her tongue and yes, we could see each girl swallow the Host. Once we saw that the Angel didn’t give Jacinta Communion. Apparently, she had quarreled with her mother. The next day, I was working in the fields and I asked, “Where is Jacinta?” I was told that she had left. She had heard the church-bells ring for Mass, and she went to go to confession. When she got to the Church, Father Valentín was already celebrating Mass. After Mass, she went to confession and that afternoon my wife and I spoke, and we said, “Let’s see if the Angel gives her Communion, now that she has gone to confession.” We looked closely and yes, he did give her communion. Sometimes the Angel didn’t give communion to the other girls as well. As for my daughter, I think the reason he didn’t give her communion was because of her disobedience to her mother. So he didn’t give her communion until she went to confession.
March 27, 2016 Mother Angelica dies at age 92. Mother Angelica (Rita Antoinette Rizzo) who started EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network) passed away on this day. She was instrumental in helping making the messages of Garabandal better known in America after she had Joey Lomangino on her “ LIVE” tv program several times, and promoted the video to the point where it had to be made in 26 languages! I had the great honor to meet and spend time with her several times while at EWTN, and when she visited Joey in New York. She promised to cover the great “Miracle” with a live tv crew, so the world could view the Miracle event. I intend to remind EWTN of Mother’s promise when the time comes. You can still find Joey’s video “ The Message of Garabandal” in many languages, on you tube.
Thank you, Glenn, for re-posting the two public messages of Our Lady: They are like a mini-catechism: 1) seek forgiveness 2) make sacrifices 3) perform penance 4) pray sincerely 5) meditate on the Passion 6) visit the Blessed Sacrament 7) amend your lives If we respond accordingly, we will experience the Mercy of God and our requests will be granted. One might say, "I already knew that. But the telling is in our obedience to the above. Thank you for your constant reminders!
Joey Lomangino on Mother Angelica Live -AUGUST 4, 1995 Joey Lomangino's first appearance on "Mother Angelica "LIVE" August 4,1995 *Just so everyone is aware, the NY Garabandal Center (OLMC) is no longer open, so please do not write or call. Thank you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCwIPKEDo08
Mary alludes to “ Hell “. The Blessed Virgin reaffirmed at Garabandal the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church. from “GARABANDAL JOURNAL” Nov-Dec. 2002 While hell is seldom if ever preached today in the majority of churches, the Blessed Virgin did not hesitate to make reference to it at Garabandal. In her second Message of June 18, 1965, delivered by Saint Michael on her behalf to Conchita, Our Lady said: "Many cardinals, many bishops and many priests are on the road to perdition and are taking many souls with them." If there is any doubt that perdition refers to hell, here is the Webster's Unabridged dictionary description: Perdition: 1. a state of final spiritual ruin; loss of the soul; damnation. 2. the future state of the wicked. 3. hell. In that same Message, Our Lady again alluded to hell when she said: "You are now receiving the last warnings. I love you very much and do not want your condemnation."
First sighting of St. Michael. June 18,1961 Except from “Conchita’s Diary”, also found in “ She went in haste to the Mountain”,book1, pages24-27 When we were enjoying ourselves eating the apples, we heard a loud noise, like thunder. And we all shouted out: It seems to be thundering. Oh, what a shame. Now that we have picked the apples, which didn’t belong to us, the devil will be pleased, and the poor Guardian Angel will be unhappy. Then we began to gather stones and threw them with all our strength to the left side, where the devil is said to be. When we got tired of throwing stones, and were more satisfied with ourselves we began to play marbles with little stones on the ground. Suddenly a very beautiful figure appeared to me, shining brilliantly, without hurting my eyes. The other girls, Jacinta, Loli and Mari Cruz, on seeing me in that state, thought I was having an attack, since I was saying with my hands joined together: Oh! . . . Oh! . . . Oh! . . . As they were going to call my mother, they found themselves in the same state as I was. And they exclaimed together: Oh, an Angel! Then there was a short silence among the four of us, and he suddenly dis- appeared And returning to normal, and very frightened, we ran toward the church— on the way passing the dance that was going on in the village. Then a girl named Pili González said to us, How white and frightened you are! Where are you coming from? Very ashamed in confessing the truth, we said to her, From picking apples. And she said: For that . . . you are coming like this? We answered together: IT IS BECAUSE WE HAVE SEEN AN ANGEL. And she said: Is that true? We: Yes, Yes . . . And we continued on our way in the direction of the church; and the girl told this to the others. Once at the door of the church, and thinking it over better, we went behind it to . . . CRY. We met some young girls who were playing, and when they saw us crying, they asked us, Why are you crying? We told them, BECAUSE WE HAVE SEEN AN ANGEL. They ran off to tell the school-mistress. When we had finished praying, we re- turned to the church door and went inside. At the same time the schoolmistress arrived very frightened and said to us at once, My children, have you really seen an Angel? —Yes, Señora. —Could this be your imagination? —No, Señora! We have really seen an Angel! Then the schoolmistress told us, Let us go pray a Station to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament in thanksgiving.
"WINGS ON THEIR FEET" This account from Andrés Otero Lorenzo from Santiago; he was both a witness and a participant in what he described, on July16,1961 "They did not fly as has been said at times by persons who have seen the affair from afar and in the dark. They did not fly; that could easily be determined. Their feet touched on the ground, but in a way that I don't know how to describe. Looking always and only upwards they never stumbled on anything, nor did they slide, nor did they strike against any stones." "They marched as if they were flying, but not flying; while the rest of the people were falling and sliding. But you would have to see what that was like! Above all, the running in the dark and in the dim light." " The girls walked as if their feet had eyes to search for the exact spot where it was best to step, always on top of the rocks and pebbles or away from them, never striking against them. And with a lightness, a grace, and rhythm I could not describe. I fell several times and stumbled many more times; but although perspiring and gasping for breath, I couldn't succeed in keeping up with them. I could never forget those marvelous things." She went in haste to the Mountain”, Book 1,Chapter 6, pgs 111-115
SIN IS AFFIRMED AT GARABANDAL On March 31 1962 Mary loli's Mother Julia gave birth to Lupita ,sister to the Visionary on the Upper Floor Of The Inn which served also as their dwelling. Mary loli entered into ecstasy on the ground floor ,she was heard to say “ah it is a little sister.. what so little and sin already in her? “ She then came out of ecstasy. A priest present at the time asked her what she meant she answered,” I saw original sin in the soul of my little sister” On another occasion, Conchita related the following. a young woman was holding a three-month-old baby in her arms. The Visionary spoke of the baby to the Blessed Virgin who said the infant was in a state of sin. Out of ecstasy Conchita made this comment “ I do not know what it means but if the Blessed Virgin said so it is so.” She came up to the young woman and told her the Virgin told me that the baby is in a state of sin. The mother answered “it is true the baby has not been yet baptized”. Soon afterwards the child did receive the sacrament of baptism. By the examples of love we can see twice the Blessed Virgin confirmed the existence of original sin and reiterated the teaching of the church expressed by Saint Paul Jews and Gentiles are alike convicted of sin all alike have sinned and are Unworthy of God's glory. FALLING ON THEIR KNEES This account from Andrés Otero Lorenzo from Santiago; he was both a witness and a participant in what he described. “Oh! I forgot. Before entering the calleja, at the level of the highest houses of the village, in the middle of the street, closed in by its walls, the girls had one of their falls. It seemed my heart stopped with the noise of the cracking their knees made. Heavens! Those girls have smashed their knees and broken their legs, I said to myself. The people were quietly walking as well as they could manage behind us, when suddenly, there came the fall. I was seeing it for the first time, and it frightened me, for I saw how they plunged suddenly on their bare knees on top of the ground with its rocks and stones. The fall sounded sharp, like the breaking of bones. For a little while they remained on their knees on top of the stones. They fixed their gaze on something that was above and in front of them. They smiled, and what a charming smile! They moved their lips as if to speak or pray, but in a whisper, in such a way that one could hardly tell one word from another. It was impossible to doubt that they were with someone. I had a privileged position, almost leaning against the children, and could observe as I pleased. Thus I could make some tests. I made a motion to stick my fingers in their eyes. Repeatedly I passed my hand in front of them. Not a contraction, not a blinking! They were completely absorbed in something that we could not comprehend, that was totally outside what was happening around them. At my side a doctor — I saw him well, although he tried to hide — dared even more than I myself. With a needle he repeatedly stuck them in the arms. Nevertheless, there did not appear in them the least sign that they had felt anything. I know that these tests were repeated during various other falls that they had during the march on that afternoon. They fell on their knees before the Pines as if someone had placed them carefully there, without scratch marks, without perspiration, without the least sign of fatigue. On the other hand, the rest of us were arriving perspiring, gasping for breath, with the marks of our falls, spills, and scratches. It did not surprise me that so many people had remained along the way. Leaning my ear against their faces, I could catch some of the words from time to time. I think that what they repeated most when they spoke was this, How good, how good! Oh, yes? Oh, how good!» “She went in haste to the Mountain”, Book 1,Chapter 6, pgs 111-115
Dear Gleen How does this actually work when you have to announce the date of Conchita’s miracle? Will you post it here, or make a YouTube video? Would you publish it exactly eight days in advance, down to the hour? Are you prepared? It could be today, April 1, 2026, at 8:00 p.m., for example? Would May 2026 or June 2026 also be possible? Next year isn’t an even-numbered year, so it’s probably not possible? Is that right? Thanks.
There will be no announcements this year or next. I will be posting on all my pages (over 20 on face book, here on MOG, and other places like EWTN) There will be in addition to the written posts, a short video ,explain it. It will be posted as soon as Conchita calls me. I am prepared, so relax.
Thank you for your feedback. Yes, this year and next year would likely be too soon, and certain known conditions would be missing. However, there are supposedly some seers who predict the warning will come in months rather than years.
April 2, 2005 Saint (Pope ) John Paul II passed away. The Pope and Garabandal. There is a book on Garabandal, written by Albrecht Weber in 1993, entitled Garabandal Der Zeigefmger Gottes (Garabandal: The Finger of God), of which a first edition copy was presented to Pope John Paul II. He later asked his secretary, Fr. (now Archbishop) Stanislaus Dziwisz, to write to the author after which the Holy Father adds in his own handwriting at the end a personal greeting and his signature. In the subsequent printing (2000 ,2nd Edition) of the book, on page 19, a portion of the Pope's message is reprinted, as follows: "May God reward you for everything. Especially for the deep love with which you are making the events connected with Garabandal more widely known. May the Message of the Mother of God find an entrance into hearts before it is too late. As an expression of joy and gratitude, the Holy Father gives you his apostolic blessing." Weber writes, "From the attached greeting in the Pope's own handwriting, with his signature, it is clear how deep an interest he has in the events of Garabandal, and how anxious he is that they should be made known in a credible way." * Interesting coincidence: Pope John Paul II's Remains were moved to the Chapel of St. Sebastian, in the Basilica of St. Peter’s. ( The Garabandal apparitions occurred from 1961 to '65 in the rural village of San Sebastián de Garabandal.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aexQDNiZU8
The Last Apparition at Garabandal. November 13, 1965, was a day mixed with joy and sadness for Conchita. The Virgin appeared with her Child to the teenager but it was to be for the last time at Garabandal. Conchita said to the Virgin, "I am so happy when I see both of you. Why don't you take me now to heaven with you?" She replied, "Remember what I told you on your patronal feast day? " When you present yourself before God, your hands must be filled with good deeds done for your brothers and for His glory. At the present time, your hands are empty." Mary said “ Conchita, I am not coming only for you but I am coming for all my children, with a desire to see them closer to our hearts”. From the book: “Garabandal“ by J. Serre -p.201 (Are your hands empty ?)
Anima Christi Throughout the period of the apparitions, Saint Michael brought Holy Communion to the visionaries on days when mass was unavailable in the village. It is worth recalling his instructions on reception of the Eucharist. Before receiving communion he requested of the children to say an Act of Contrition and before thanksgiving after reception he taught them to say the Anima Christi (“Soul of Christ”) of Saint Ignatius Loyola. Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body of Christ, save me. Blood of Christ, inebriate me. Water from the side of Christ, wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me. O Good Jesus, hear me. Within your wounds hide me. Permit me not to be separated from you. From the wicked foe, defend me. At the hour of my death, call me and bid me come to you. That with Thy saints I may be Praising Thee, forever and ever. Amen.
